This Is What Is Wrong With Society!!!!

So on my way to work this morning I heard about a website called SeekingArrangement.com.  In NO way an I endorsing this site or getting paid to write this because to be honest it appears to be WAY creepy and a lot gross.

An MIT graduate  came up with the idea of an online dating service that aims to connect older, wealthy “sugar daddies” with younger, attractive “sugar babies” looking to be pampered in exchange for some affection.

The boom in membership was so high among female students that the website last month released a national ranking of the top 20 colleges and universities whose students joined the website in 2011. Temple was No. 5.  Wade started the website started in 2005, said that the sugar babies usually join in search of a more luxurious lifestyle. Now, the website is being invaded by more pragmatic college students – women, and some guys, looking for a benefactor to pay their student loans, provide start-up capital for their businesses or help them land jobs.

We live close to Philly so hearing Temple was No. 5 was a little disturbing.  This service costs men $50 a month and can upgrade to a premium service for $2,400 per year.  Really men need to pay $2,400 a year to find a women or college age girl.  Pathetic in my opinion.

Each woman’s account requires some basic information (name, location, age) and one piece that’s a little more personal: how much money she expects to receive per date. Prices range from less than $1,000 to more than $20,000. Some women, like Paula, label themselves as being “open for negotiation.”

Trust me I totally understand college is expensive and times are hard but is this kind of service really necessary?  I am assuming yes since so many people use it but my opinion is no.  Women are getting between 1k – 20k per date.  I know they are claiming this site is legal but it seems very close to prostitution if you ask me.

Maybe I am jealous because I am a man but for the last twenty years women always saying they want to be equal with men but then they utilize services like this.  Don’t get me wrong these men are nasty pigs who need to date people their own age or date at least for love and NOT for the possibility of sex in exchange for money.

Before people get all up in arms I am not saying all women are utilizing these serivces and I am not saying that the ones who do are any less of a women but I am saying there has to be a better, safer way than this.

AGAIN THIS IS MY OPINION AND IN NO WAY AM I BACKING OR ENDORSING THIS WEBSITE!!!!!!!!

People Are Down Right Despicable and Shameful

I saw this story on our local news which took place in Philadelphia at an upscale assisted living facility. Care works were taunting a 78 year old elderly patient that was suffering from dementia. The workers were caught on a hidden camera placed in the room by the family who suspected abuse pulling on the patient’s ear and striking them in the face and head.

This story is disgraceful and down right wrong. Why do people think they have the right to do this to someone’s family member? This person is a human being dementia or not. These people are paid to take care of elderly people and to find out they are abusing them is painful. These people should hide their head in shame and be put away in prison for life. People confide in these workers to take care of their loved ones and I can only imagine how the victim and family must feel.

Guardian Angels are looking for new recruits

Camden, NJ police officers are turning in their badges this week. Due to steep budget cuts and reduced state aid the city is facing a huge deficit. The state has approved the layoff of 300 public workers including half of the police force and one-third of the city’s firefighters. Considering its small population of 70,000, Camden City has the 2nd highest crime rate in the US. They come 2nd to Detroit.

Several years ago the State of New Jersey took over running the school district due to corruption, reporting discrepancies and stealing from administrators. The police force already deals with a crime rate 5 times higher than the national average. Criminals taunt them, knowing their presence isn’t intimidating.

The Guardian Angels are putting the word out that they will be present in Camden. The patrols started this weekend and they will be the voice for the people. Members from as far as Chicago and Connecticut traveled to band together and keep the streets safe. The Camden Police have “unofficially” welcomed the support. Hopefully they can ease the burden put on the remaining officers.

Just a few blocks away is Adventure Aquarium, a state of the art aquarium that houses a Stingray Beach, 2 African Hippos, more than 500,000 gallons of shark and much more. I wonder how much state and government aid it took to renovate a couple years back.  $10 billion in equipment, transport, tools and weapons have gone unaccounted for in the Iraq War. Our government is spending money to send our troops to keep citizens of OTHER countries safe.

The city is in trouble and has been for a long time. With a history of corrupt mayors and government officials the rest of the country has turned their back on them. The community is passed the “in danger” title. Camden is crumbling around the people who live there. Streets and streets of boarded up homes and businesses, drug dealers working in plain sight of children and city officials and over 50% of the community living below the poverty level leaves this city with no way out.

We’ve bailed out the banks and auto manufacturers; we’ve given assistance to those unable to make their mortgage payments. When do we save our cities and the people who are struggling to survive in these situations? How do we protect those unable to protect themselves when you chop down the police and fire presence in an already impoverished community?

What’s all the hub-bub about Gisele?

“Some people here (in the US) think they don’t have to breastfeed”. “And I think ‘Are you going to give chemical food to your child when they are so little?’ I think there should be a worldwide law, in my opinion, that mothers should breastfeed their babies for six months.”

The words heard around the world that sent mom’s everywhere into a tizzy. I (as in me) think her statement was made through the pure joy she’s experiencing as a 1st time mother and shouting from the rooftops how wonderful everything is but maybe just not worded quite right and received even worse. Breastfeeding is baby’s most perfect food, we all know this but the act of breastfeeding is such a personal and emotional decision.

I tried, I seriously tried to breastfeed each kid. With Sabreena it lasted a about 3 days, Shaun lasted about 2 days and Shae did it once. The lactation nurse could see the fear on my face and just knew not to push the issue. My problem was me, my anxiety overtook my body. The stress of “doing it right” was too much for me to handle so I just stopped.

That was my decision, and I’m fine with it. My sister breastfed for a little while, it didn’t work out, she stopped and I’m fine with it. I’m in no place to pass my opinion on to anyone else about what is going to work for their life.

Gisele apparently had an easy pregnancy, easy delivery and has been smooth sailing through breastfeeding. Fantastic for her, but don’t make other moms feel bad about our different choices. Come on mommies, let’s support each other!
