Food, Race Day and Nexium 24 #RaceDayRelief

I love sports and I mean all sports like football, racing, bowling, lacrosse and so on and I also love to eat while watching sports. In my opinion you can’t watch sports without some kind of food or snack. During the race season which we are currently in Melinda always makes sure that I have plenty of snacks and my go to snack right now is Buffalo Chick Dip which is awesome. I will share the recipe in a minute but I must admit that I do get heartburn from it but that doesn’t bother me as long as I have my Nexium 24HR that I get at my local Walmart which is 5 minutes away.

Here is the recipe that I promised:

As a chicken wing loving family we take every opportunity to indulge in the spice and creamy flavors in this dip. This recipe is so versatile and easy to customize to your own taste. Not only can you add more buffalo or hot sauce to kick up the heat you can also prepare in advance for an upcoming event, keep it warm in a mini crockpot for grazing or double the entire recipe for big crowd.

When you have a delicious dish like this that just takes 15 minutes to prepare you’ll be the hit of the party or the afternoon of couch surfing watching sports.

Easy Buffalo Chicken Dip

Ingredients

1 lb cooked chopped chicken (with olive oil,salt, pepper, 1/2 tsp garlic & onion powder and 1/2 cup of favorite wing sauce/hot sauce)
1/2 block softened cream cheese
1/2 cup mayo
1/3 cup sour cream
1/4 grated parmesan cheese
1 1/2 cups shredded cheese (we used a blend of cheddar and mozzarella)

Directions

Add everything to a medium saucepan over low heat and blend till cheeses are melted. This is Ready to Eat. Or transfer to a oven safe dish and back for 15-18 minutes till bubbly.
Serve with veggies, crackers, tortilla chips or toasted pitas.
This is also a great recipe for a make ahead appetizer for that party this weekend. We whip this up often, so often that we get asked to bring this to get-togethers and parties. It’s easy to make, easy to change to accommodate different tastes and most of all it’s delicious.

Ok, now back to racing. If you have never watched racing you are missing out on the thrill of cars racing at 180 MPH inches from one another. I have been to a few live races and they are definitely better in person as you can hear the cars in all of their glory and see all of the action. Now this is just my opinion as some people can’t tolerate the noise but if you come equipped with ear plugs you are in perfect shape.

For those of you that may want to start watching racing check out the upcoming Duck Commander 500 on April 9th. Also, if you aren’t sure who to cheer for why not Ty Dillion in the Nexium Car. Later this season he will be driving the Advil car which is appropriate because some may have a little headache after going to a race live.

Regardless of the headaches and heartburn I LOVE racing on TV and in person and I don’t miss a single race. I love everything that goes into making a race car go like the pit crew, equipment and the driver. There is alot that goes into racing and I love it all.

Xbox One, Forza Motorsport 5 and M&M’s Under The Tree

Shaun loves his Xbox 360 and plays it every single chance he gets so I am really excited for Christmas morning so I can see his face when he opens up his brand spanking new Xbox One and Forza 5. I must admit that I’m also pretty excited for him to open up his Xbox One so I can hook it up and him and I can play Forza Motorsport 5 together. Shaun and I have been playing Forza 4 together on the Xbox 360 and I know we are going to love playing Forza 5 together with the new graphics on the Xbox One.

Melinda and I went to our local WalMart last night and picked up Forza Motorsport 5 and while we were there we also picked up a bag of Peanut Butter M&M’s as well as a ton of other stuff. Shaun loves candy almost as much as he loves Xbox (just like his father, LOL) so we are going to wrap up the M&M’s as well and put them under the tree. I can see him now on Christmas morning playing his Xbox and eating M&M’s, LOL. That is what I snack on when gaming or watching TV so who can blame him for wanting the do the same plus it’s Christmas so we’ll give his a pass on eating candy so early in the morning.

Christmas is 10 days away and thank goodness for that because I have been wanting to give Shaun his Xbox One since I picked it up on Black Friday. Thankfully Melinda stepped in otherwise Shaun would have nothing else to open on Christmas except for his M&M’s, LOL.

Come on Christmas. I am patiently waiting for you but I must admit my patients are wearing thin as I am overly excited for the 25th to arrive.

So now I will just sit back and wait for my $10 eGift card for Walmart to arrive. I am sure that once I do receive it I will just spend it on either more Xbox stuff or more M&M’s either way it’s $10 well spent.

Xbox Video Games Are Better When You Snack With M&M’s

Xbox video games like Forza 4 and M&M’s are my weakness so putting them together is just insane and makes for an awesome afternoon of snacking and gaming.

Recently I picked up Forza 4 for Xbox which is an awesome driving game along with a HUGE (42oz) bag of peanut M&M’s. Let me start by saying that after buying the game and M&M’s I couldn’t get home fast enough to open both of my purchases and get my gaming started. Forza 4 is a game that I can see playing for a long time due to all of the different levels and challenges within the game. I played Forza 4 for a good two to three hours Saturday afternoon and also put a hurting on the M&M’s. Thankfully the kids and Melinda had some peanut M&M’s as well because they are one of my weaknesses and I could have eaten the whole bag by myself. Like I said I played for two to three hours and didn’t even scratch the surface when it comes to cars and tracks but I am looking forward to getting some more free time this weekend and playing again and hopefully upgrading my car and getting some race time on more awesome tracks.

I told Melinda that once I get a hang of Forza 4 and finish the game I want to move onto Forza 5 for Xbox One. I don’t have an Xbox One but I would buy one just to play Forza 5, LOL, that is just the kind of gamer I am. When I find a game that I really like playing I will continue to buy and play every game in that series and now that I am hooked on Forza 4 I will continue to play every Forza game that is released in the series.

Unlimited Plans Rock During Football Season

When people use to tell me about their cheap wireless plan I always thought that cheap meant unreliable but after using Walmart Family Mobile for the last month I no longer believe that.

I have been using the Samsung S4 on #FamilyMobileSaves with Walmart Family Mobile and I have to admit that no contract service is just as if not more reliable than my current provider. Phone activation was super simple and you can manage your account online just like you would with a contract phone. To be honest other than the contract I see NO difference what so ever between contract and non contract phones. At first I was a little concerned since I started using the no contract service during football season which is extremely important to me but so far no problems at all. I have had no dropped calls and the data speed rocks so I haven’t missed a beat at all especially when it comes to my fantasy football teams.

Football season is the time when I am on my phone the most. I am typically always on my phone (LOL) but during football season I tend to kick it up a notch and that has a lot to do with fantasy football. I love having real time scores at my fingertips at all times and real time stats especially since I am in three different fantasy leagues. I am so ridiculous when it comes to football that I keep one page on my phone dedicated to apps that I use most during the football season. I know to some fantasy football seems silly but playing in these leagues allows me to be more into games that I would otherwise not really care about. Plus two of the leagues I am in are for money so that adds more pressure to the mix but who doesn’t like to win money based on how others play, LOL.

So like I said I am a month in using #FamilyMobileSaves with Walmart Family Mobile and I am extremely impressed. Great service, awesome prices and their phone selection rocks. I can’t ask for anything more than what I have experienced over the last month so if your current provider is bleeding you dry take a look at Walmart Family Mobile. I think you will be happy with what you discover like I was.

On The Hunt For The Lowest Price Rate Plan

It’s hard to imagine every day life without my smartphone because it seems to be attached to my hand every waking moment. I can remember my very first mobile phone which was a bag phone when I was in college back in 1992 (yes I know I am old). I would only use my phone to make emergency phone calls due to how expensive it was considering back then there wasn’t a thing such as unlimited plans like there is today.

I also remember being locked into what I thought was an iron clad contract back then but these

days companies are offering contract as well as no contract phones. We are currently with Verizon and have three smart phones and each phone is locked into a 2 year contract. I have been with Verizon so long I am just used to the contract but I am seeing a lot of companies offering no contract phones like ##FamilyMobileSaves with Walmart Family Mobile. After realizing that our cell phone bill on a monthly basis is just way to much money I decided it was time to start hunting for a cheap wireless plan and see if I could save a few bucks a month.

While Melinda and I were at Walmart this past week picking up some odds and ends I noticed the no contract phones back in the entertainment section of the store. I will admit that I was in total overload from all of the different options and rate plans that were available to choose from. The one display that caught my eye was Walmart Family Mobile due to their phone selection, cheap wireless plans and phone pricing. I am HUGE into technology so when I decide to go no contract I want a phone that is new and fresh and with Walmart Family Mobile they offer the Samsung Galaxy S2, S3, S4 as well as the iPhone 5. They offer other phones as well but I am a Samsung fan and I currently have the Note 2 so when I make the switch I want to stick with Samsung so I will be getting the Galaxy S4.

Walmart Family Mobile offers two unlimited plans from what I saw. The first was $29.88 for unlimited talk and text and $39.88 for unlimited talk, text and web. Also you can mix and match up to five lines and when you do the price of those additional likes goes to $24.88 for unlimited talk and text and $34.88 for unlimited talk, text and web. They also offer online account management and information where you can add additional lines, pay your bill and much more. The one thing that you need to know and remember is that for no contract plans you need to purchase the phone out right. For me this is no problem because what I will be saving on a monthly basis will pay for the phone is about two to three months so for me this is a win win situation.

Like I mentioned earlier my phone is attached it my hands like glue and especially now since it’s football season. I am in two fantasy football leagues so I am on my phone non-stop checking games, player stats and how I am doing against my opponent each week so I need a phone and plan that aren’t going to let me down.

I was a little concerned at first about switching now especially during football season to a no contract plan but after doing my research I have nothing to fear. I am actually sorry that I didn’t check into this earlier so I could have been saving cash all alone but live and learn I guess.

For the past week and half I’ve been battling a cold. The kids have been back in school less than a month. Coincidence? I think not.

As a mom to 3 kids in school and activities I worry about germs and illness all the time. I’m the type if mom that plans out the family meals for the week to include homemade mashed potatoes & mac and cheese and made from scratch pizza dough. I like being able to prepare balanced meals that everyone will enjoy. But that doesn’t mean I’m not the first to admit I rely in some cheats to get me through a busy week.

My grocery list usually consists of the things we need to get through the week but I like to toss in some “just in case” items such as Chicken Nuggets, Chicken Fries or Chicken Wings in case our dinner plans have gone awry.

I used Tyson Foods Crispy Chicken Strips for a new meal idea, a twist on Chicken Parmesan.

Chicken Parmesan Pockets

Crispy Chicken Strips (25oz package)
2 tubes of refrigerated Pizza Dough
Italian Blend Shredded Cheese
Pasta or Pizza Sauce

Start by cooking chicken strips according to package directions. Divide each pizza dough into 6 pieces and roll out into 6×8″ rectangles.

Chop cooked chicken into bite size pieces place a small handful on each rectangle of dough and top with sauce and cheese.

Pull up the corners to the top and press edges onto each other to seal closed.

Bake for 12-18 minutes until golden brown. Serve with extra sauce and veggies for a balanced meal.

Modify this recipe to suit your family’s tastes by adding roasted red peppers, chunk mozzarella, spicy marinara or Tyson Food Grilled Chicken Strips instead.

Pepperoni Pizza Puffs #recipe with Tyson Foods #WhatsYourTopping #CBias

Cooking is my job. While Rob is usually on weekend breakfast duty the bulk of the dinners and planning is my responsibility. I like to plan out what is going on for the week so that all ingredients are on hand. This week since the kids are on summer vacation I planned a couple meal solutions besides sandwiches. One of them was Pepperoni Puffs. This muffin shaped fluffy bite is a treat for Shaun and Rob and they can often be found in lunch boxes year round.

Using Tyson Foods Diced Pepperoni has never crossed my mind. In fact I had never heard of it before until I was sent to Walmart to shop for it.

Our Walmart is a one stop shopping center. We go there for everything; groceries, household items, sheets, toys and games and more. Shopping for Tyson Foods Diced Pepperoni I thought was going to be easy but finding it turned into an adventure. I stood in the Meats section looking around with no success. I had to ask an employee. We both located the diced bacon (which I also bought) but it took some digging to find the Pepperoni. Finally! On the top shelf, fallen over in a black box we found them. Not an ideal spot for such a great brand I thought. Luckily I bought 2 because when I went back 2 more times there was none to be found on the shelves.

When making the Pepperoni Puffs I snuck a few bites of diced pepperoni and was surprised at the level of spice. This is how I like my pepperoni. The first bag we used was gone in a day or two. It was used for a pizza topping and for pizza quesadillas. We use a ton of sandwich pepperoni in our house so I see having this on hand regularly for adding spice and flavor to a ton of different recipes.
The puff recipe is something I found somewhere online and doctored to suit our tastes. It can easily be adapted to house sausage, bacon or even chicken.

Pepperoni Pizza Puffs

Ingredients

3/4 cup flour
3/4 tsp baking powder
salt and pepper to taste
1 TBLS Italian seasonings
pinch of red pepper flakes
3/4 cup milk
1 egg, lightly beaten
1tsp chopped garlic
1 cup shredded pizza blend cheese
2 TBLS parmesan cheese
1 cup Tyson Foods Diced Pepperoni
1 cup of pizza sauce, warmed

Instructions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease 24-cup mini muffin or 12 regular size muffin pans with liners.
In a large bowl whisk together flour, baking powder and seasonings.
Add milk, egg, garlic, cheese and pepperoni and gently blend till combined using wooden spoon or rubber spatula.
Scoop into muffin tins.
Bake for 21-24 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
Serve warm or room temperature with pizza sauce for dipping.

These are something the kids have eaten for school lunch that doesn’t have to be kept cold or warm, room temperature is just perfect. The mini muffin size makes for a great pop-able treat for after school and for parties. Doubling the recipe is simple so they can be frozen for eating later on. Sandwiches and salads can get boring so this is a tasty alternative

Mohawk #LicensetoSpill Tour Philadelphia #cbias

This past weekend I was invited to visit the 9th Street Italian Market Festival. The Italian Market in Philadelphia is the nation’s largest outdoor market. On any given day your senses will be assaulted by the rainbow of colorful produce, the scent of baked goods and coffee and the variety of fresh seafood and meats at the butcher shops.

The Italian Market Festival is a gathering of the entire community to celebrate with music, food, shopping and crafts. We were able to be an Italian for a day with food from Chef Peter McAndrews of Paesanos and pastries from Isgro Pasticceria.

This is also a spot for brands to show off some of their newest and best products to the thousands of people walking by. Mohawk Flooring, #LicensetoSpill tour was in attendance to share their newest technology, SmartStrand® carpet flooring. Chip Wade from HGTV’s Elbow Room was on hand to show off the beauty of design of the carpet.
