Deciding on what to be for Halloween can be a very daunting task for kids. There are so many costume options out there. Royalty, Superheroes, cartoon characters, mythical creatures and even the classics like clowns and fireman make appearances each year on our neighborhood. This year Shae’s decision was quick. The catalog arrived and while she’s outgrown most of the costumes and gear already she zeroed in on the one that would still work for her.

Dorothy and Toto (in a basket) arrived and the costume was instantly put on. In fact it was worn all weekend. Shae’s been trying to figure out how to get her hair in braids too.

Sol Republic Deck Giveaway

We tried to squeeze in all the summer possible over the last few weeks. A trip to the beach was on the agenda and we packed like we were gonna stay for days. Turns out the weather was pretty perfect and we sat in that sand for hours and hours while the kids played and swam. We were prepared with good food, great company and excellent sounds from the Sol Republic Deck.

When we got to the beach  (a little later than wanted) we found it a bit overcrowded. Seemed like everyone else had the same idea.

This was the first time we hooked up the Sol Republic Deck. We didn’t test it at home and there really was no need to. The connection was clear, the music was loud and the battery hasn’t failed us yet.

Big Step into Middle School #fightforyourwrite [plus giveaway]

Middle School is a big step. No more walking the halls with the kindergarteners or hearing his little sister yell his name across the cafeteria. Shaun is no longer a little boy. He’s growing into a young man. In fact he’s already taller than me at age 11. Yep, he’s 11.
This school year is gonna be so different. He gets to stay after for sports and extra-curriculars. Hopefully he gets into guitar. Hopefully he realizes the huge changes that are about to happen to his life. These are very formative years. These are the years that set you up for high school. These are the years that unfortunately box you into a clique. I hope he sees the greatness in everyone not just one group of kids.

The Fight for your Write campaign is about empowering kids with their creativity and imagination. Handwriting is shown to be beneficial in all aspects of school and life outside the classroom.

If you’re anything like most people these days you want your errands and tasks to be easier. For me this means being about to do lots of things while on the go. I know my dry cleaning can’t be done over my phone but if I can find a “green” dry cleaner with my fingertips then I’m on the right track. Clip coupons to stock up on items on sale or buy just what you need. I’m not one to shop for 20 of 1 item because it’s on sale. I just don’t have the room. But I will snag up a useful item if the price if right AND I have a coupon.

I did last week’s grocery shopping with a focus on back to school snacks. I know school is starting soon and I need to get ready.
