Each year we head to the beach as much as we can get there. It’s one of our favorite places to be as a family. First we hit the beach then we clean up and do dinner and rides. I don’t think my kids will ever grow old of doing rides. One thing Shaun grows old of is the chafing from his swim trunks. The sand and water put a beating on his legs. Littlest Pet Shop Season 3 Premiere Hub Network May 31 9:30AM EST

Do your kids follow the story of Blythe Baxter and her furry friends at the Littlest Pet Shop? The Hub Network is starting season 3 of this kids favorite on May 31, 9:30AM ET/6:30AM PT.

The premier episode, Sleeper introduces a new character, Mr. VonFuzzlebutt, an energetic but rather narcoleptic raccoon. Vinnie the Gecko and Sunil the Monkey are given the task to entertain the new guest of the animal day camp.

Of course chaos ensues and the pets are put under pressure to keep the secret of a sleeping Mr. Von Fuzzlebutt from the other animals and of course their caretaker.

Littlest Pet Shop follows Blythe Baxter and her father who live in a Downtown City apartment above the Littlest Pet Shop — an amazing day camp for pets of all kinds, including a doggie diva, dancing gecko and sweet, adorable panda. The series begins when Blythe discovers that she can miraculously understand and talk to the pets, which leads to fantastical adventures featuring uproarious song-and-dance parodies and sequences to original music. In its third season, Blythe and the few friends who know her secret utilize her unique ability to have fun with her furry friends, solve problems and lend a helping hand— or paw — to other humans and pets.

Hub Network, champions of family fun and the only network dedicated to providing kids and their families with entertainment they can watch together. The Littlest Pet Shop is JUST that type of show. It has a sweet story with just enough humor to get a few chuckles from mom and dad.

At six years old, Shae has lots of opinions about what she wears. She doesn’t always get final say but I like to hear what she thinks about certain styles, patterns and colors. My Little Pony Friendship is Magic Season 5

Twilight Sparkle and her beloved pony friends will continue to celebrate the magic of friendship as the Hub Network announces season five of its hit animated series “My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic.” The series, from Hasbro Studios, is slated to air in 2015 on the Hub Network, champions of family fun and the only network dedicated to providing kids and their families entertainment they can watch together. The network has ordered 26 episodes for season five.

Excited is just one word used to describe how Sabreena and Shae feel about this news. You see this is one cartoon that Shae can get Sabreena to watch with her without complaint. The cuddle up and discuss the plot, the character’s personality traits, why such conflict is happening and how the “problem” should be solved. It’s like their very own soap opera.

“My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic” follows the magical Princess Twilight Sparkle and her trusted assistant Spike, who live in Ponyville in the enchanted land of Equestria, along with her colorful pony friends – honest Applejack, generous Rarity, kind Fluttershy, loyal Rainbow Dash and fun-loving Pinkie Pie. Together, they teach one another valuable lessons about the most powerful magic of all – the magic of friendship!

ConKerr Cancer Pajama Party Recap

Sometimes it takes just a small gesture to make a big impact.

In 2002 a young man, Ryan was diagnosed with cancer. Throughout 6years of treatments, recurrences, surgery and therapy his mother stood by him to create some light in his world. This came in the form of a homemade pillowcase. This separated his pillow from the rest in the hospital and made his stays a bit more inviting and warm. This sparked the start of ConKerr Cancer, and their efforts to bring a smile to every child’s face that is going through similar battles with cancer and other illness.

This past March was the 2nd ConKerr Cancer Pajama Party. We were invited to be Ambassadors to share the news of the event and bring awareness of how simple it is to do something for a child in need. We attended the party at the Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia. From the start I never would’ve guessed this event was only in its 2nd year. The participation and attendance was amazing.

The community rallied together to donate their time and money for this cause. Throughout the evening 1000 guest were invited to explore the museum, enjoy local food and drinks, sew pillowcases, mingle with local celebrities and athletes, bid on auctions and play with animals from the Philadelphia Zoo.

Sabreena was the first to sew a pillowcase with the help of some volunteers.

We thoroughly enjoyed the event and were proud to be a part of such a phenomenal organization.

Yale Key Free Deadbolt

I woke up one Saturday morning and found that Rob had installed a new Touchscreen Deadbolt on our front door. I was surprised by one fact, it had gone in so easily and quickly that no one else was even awake in the home.

Yale sent us the Key Free Deadbolt to analyse. This is something that Rob’s been wanting for a long time. Shaun is 11 years old but I DO NOT think he’s responsible enough to have a key to the house. I’m home when they get home from school so there is no need to worry about how they get in the house.

There have been occasions where I’m running around getting errands done and I notice the time. I’ve had to call a neighbor or my mother to meet them. Not the most convenient thing to do. The Key Free Deadbolt gives me peace of mind that they can get in the house safely in case I’m not there. Best feature so far; it locks on its own. Waving your hand over the panel will engage the bolt but kids aren’t thinking about that as they are running out the door for the bus or friends waiting on the sidewalk. Within just a few seconds of the door closing the deadbolt will turn on its own; locking the door securely.

The Yale Key Free Deadbolt comes with an illuminated touchscreen and the ability to give out 25 user codes. This gives us the option of having a “guest code” for emergencies where I have to ask a neighbor or Sabreena’s friend to come over and let the dogs out or close the windows in a rainstorm.

All of these things have happened.

The Yale Keyless Entry products also come with the ability to sync up to some home security systems. This gives parents more peace when they can get text alerts that their children have let themselves in the home after school. Shaun and Shae take turns entering their code to open the door, even when the garage door is open.

Rob said the installation was by far the easiest Honey Do task he’s encountered in a LONG time. The instructions were voice-guided directly from the deadbolt. A couple of screws, some tightening and it was done. We did replace our doorknob too. It had a key and I didn’t want anyone to accidently lock the doorknob when we were trying to go keyless. Unfortunately our local home store didn’t carry Yale products so I didn’t get Yale doorknob but I think we got a good match.

Taking it Old School for the Family #NetFlix #StreamTeam

One of my favorite things to do with Shae is to watch all of the old Disney movies that I used to have on VHS. Recently, Netflix has added things like Mulan, Robin Hood, Hercules, The Aristocats, and Pocahontas to instant streaming. As part of the Netflix #StreamTeam we get announcements of new (and old) programming that’s been added.

This month they’re taking it old school with shows there were more my mom’s era. I’ve heard her get all excited about Jem and the Holigrams. My grandfather’s been known to watch Saved By the Bell marathons on Saturday mornings when everyone else is sleeping.

I’m an obscure Disney movie lover. I’m so excited to find the titles that no one else mentions, those are my favorites, those are the ones I grew up with. Now I can share that with Shae and show her that Disney isn’t always princesses and fairy tales.

Lime Ricki Swimwear Recap

Spring may have just started but I’m already thinking of summer. More specifically I’m thinking about our summer vacation aboard the Carnival Breeze. It’s been a couple of years since we’ve taken a summer vacation so this is going to be special.

Sabreena is 18, has a slim but curvy body but is quite modest. She actually prefers full coverage bathing suits. She’s not going out in rash guards or swim shorts but she keeps it family friendly. Lime Ricki offered up a suit for consideration and she’s quite pleased with the outcome.

The TIED-BUST BLACK TANKINI TOP offers a modern twist on a retro look with panels of colorful floral print and polka dotted and beaded ties. Paired with a basic black bikini bottom it’ll work for swimming, sunbathing, lounging on the Lido deck or playing with Shae at the water park. The adjustable drawstring on the bust gives ample room for bigger boobs. This is something Sabreena was very nervous about. Finding separate pieces is the only way to go when shopping for swimsuits since her top and bottom run different sizes. I’m sure this runs true for many women.

If you follow Rob and I on Facebook or Instagram you’ll notice lots of food pics. We like to share what’s for dinner, where we’re eating out and even some food fails. Lately you’d notice lots of food being cooked on the smoker. For the first few months of using the smoker we made lots of pulled pork, ribs and chicken. I wanted to venture into beef but I wasn’t sure what to make. I was roaming the meat department when the Acme Markets Butcher asked if I needed help. We then had a long conversation about what meats work best with a long slow smoke.

This brought me to the famous brisket. It was the best piece of meat I’ve ever had. I’ve had brisket before but didn’t like it. This was amazing. The butcher gave me some tips and they definitely worked on our favor.
