Blue Q Gifts Revolution

Don’t you love when you stumble on a new site with fun products? When I found Blue Q I fell in love with their bags. These aren’t just regular bags, they are made from recycled plastic bottles and grain sacks that has been spun into cool and kitschy designs that are super strong and durable. This past weekend I used the Overnighter to pack mine, Rob’s, Shaun’s and Shae’s clothes for a weekend at my parents. Everything FIT! To get an idea of the real size of the overnighter Shae is pictured above sitting in it having her snack. There was no hesitation that the bag was going to be able to support the weight either. With long woven straps it can be slung over your shoulder for easy carrying and its material allows for easy clean-up against spills and dirty shoes. The shopper tote (pictured to the right of the Shae in the overnighter)has come in so handy on several occasions. At the grocery store I handles about 2 times more than a regular plastic bag and I was able to tote all the decoration and last minute items for my sister’s baby shower; paper cutter, pens, markers, tape, hole punch, scissors, folders with shower games, box for raffle, tablecloths, napkins, favors, cosmetic bag, extra shoes, decorations and more odds and ends. It stood up straight the whole time allowing me to reach in and grab whatever I needed with fewer struggles like with floppy reusable bags.

Melinda and I have wanted a clock for the living room for some time now but have never been able to find one that we both liked then along came CSNMirrors.com, an online source for home décor, mirrors, and wall accents. Melinda and I chose the Howard Miller 625-317 – O’Brien Double Dial Wall Clock which retails for $120.97. To me this clock is a deal at that price as it has a very elegant antique look which gives the clock a very expensive look. What I really like most is that it has two clocks that run with two separate movements via one AA battery each so you can set them to different time zones or the same time if you wish. Daisy Giggles, baby shower favors, gifts and stationery

My sister and sister-in-law both have a few weeks left and the babies will be here. The final step was my sister’s baby shower. Along with my mother and sister’s 2 friends I hosted it this past weekend. It went very well in my opinion. Everyone had a great time, food was good, décor was cute, gifts were overflowing and there were lots of smiles and lots of laughter.

As the finishing touch to most showers and gatherings guests are usually given a little keepsake to remember the moments we just spent together. BEARPAW Shoes Evaluation

My very first blog entry (besides my introduction) for LookWhatMomFound was a analysis for Bearpaw boots. I had purchased a brown pair for myself and a black pair for Sabreena last winter and we love them! I actually can’t wait for the weather to cool down so I have an excuse to wear them again. It just made sense to try out the other Bearpaw products as soon as the summer season started coming to an end. I recently received a pair of chestnut Loki slippers. I’m going to say it again, YUM. Luxurious sheepskin lining and a velvety soft suede outer paired with a hard rubber sole makes for comfy wearing ALL DAY. I’ve been wearing these to Shaun’s bus stop, grocery store, park, walks, mall, EVERYWHERE. I wore them this past weekend to my parent’s and my mom pointed at them looked at my dad and said I WANT THEM.

ReliOn Temple Touch Thermometer

Cold and Flu season is among us as well as the bothersome random runny noses and coughs and in general yucky feelings. Is your medicine cabinet stocked? Ours is but I recently received a nice addition, the ReliOn Temple Touch Thermometer.

I may be a young mom but I’m old school when it comes to taking temperature readings for my kids. As infants I did rectal readings and as they grew up it went to the armpit then under the tongue. I never thought I needed technology for something so simple. Well I was wrong. The Temple Touch Thermometer came I went around the house and got everyone’s base temperature, something everyone should know by the way. It was simple, so simple that Shae now asks for the “mometer” at night. The Temple Touch Thermometer uses a unique probe to record heat flow from the blood vessels in the temporal artery and converts it to body temperature.

The process is super simple.

  • Turn it on
  • Wait a couple seconds for the hour glass to finish spinning and beeps twice
  • Firmly press to temple between eye socket and eyebrow
  • Wait 7 seconds for single beep, reading is ready

Seven seconds can feel like an eternity when you have a sick or cranky child but with a little practice and distraction this can be done without the child even knowing. Certain guidelines should be followed when using this product, things that sound obvious but make your go hmmmmm.

  • Make sure your childs head is not wet, moisture can register cooler
  • Do not use if your child has recently been exposed to direct sunlight or other heat source like a warm bath, their skin will warmer
  • Do not use if your child has just exercised or exerted themselves, skin will be warmer after physical activities
  • Keep the Temple Touch Thermometer in a stable environment like a closet or first aid kit, extreme humidity, cold or hot temperatures can alter this products performance

The Temple Touch Thermometer is going to save lots of time and headache this coming winter. While I don’t look forward to sick kids I do look forward to having this handy tool at my disposal for those night-time fevers because that’s when they always spike! Dezign With a Z Wall Decals

We’ve all tried the trick of putting sticky decals on our walls to add come color and design. Most of them turn out flimsy, off-color and lifeless. I found the solution to that problem. We were able to try out decals for the girls rooms. Picking out just the right design took a while because there were so many cool choices. The outcome is really pretty and a striking contrast to the boring walls in the dungeon (her room is in the basement). As you can see I add the included butterflies to her mirror for a little fun change.
For Shae’s room I wanted something pretty and girly but not babyish. Moon Girl jumped out and I knew in the right color it would be the perfect addition to her big girl room.

Dezign With a Z offers a video tutorial for installing your wall decals. The process is quite different from other products I’ve tried in the past, it’s more like a 4 step process rather than a peel ‘n stick method. There is a lot of rubbing involved and while not hard it takes a little bit of time. To do Shae’s room took about 30 minutes from start to finish, the larger decal with all the points and edges takes some maneuvering. Sabreena’s room took about the same time but each flower and leaf decal was positioned and installed individually. A credit card was the best tool and didn’t require such a heavy hand as I thought it would. I am pleased with the results in both rooms and equally pleased with the quality of the decals.
