Apps to Keep Me on Track

A couple months back I made the leap into the traditional working world after an almost 8 year hiatus.  I’m not saying running this blog hasn’t been work I needed a change of scenery. I needed something more fulfilling and standard.  I’m loving it so far and don’t regret the decision but I know other things have suffered. This blog for example.  I know I’ve neglected it and I’m not sharing the fun things like we used to but I’m still working on getting my life organized with the changes going on.Back to Work on the Computer

Things started falling apart. I was resorting to chicken fingers and mac and cheese too often for dinner. I was letting the kids watch too much television.  I was just absent in the daily grind of home.

I knew I had to find solutions to stay on top of the kids and house. Here are some apps and tools that have gotten me and the kids better adjusted and structured.

Food.com has a beautifully designed FREE app with over 500,000 recipes that  not only helps me with meal ideas but also helps me shop better by incorporation a shopping list and letting me know what area stores are having sales on those items. The recipes are just a touch away when it’s time to cook or prep or gives me ideas based on what’s in my fridge and pantry.Food.com app for busy families

Heads Up is a play anywhere family friendly (with some not so family friendly options) app that the kids LOVE.  When there isn’t enough time to set up a board game or get out of the house we just grab someone’s phone and we’re ready. It’s a cross between charades, head bands, Guess Who and 20  questions. One player hold the phone up to their forehead while the rest of the group gives clues to what is showing up on the screen.  There are so many categories to play.  For just $.99 you get the basic game. For additional small amounts you are able to download more categories.  I spend more on a cup of coffee these days so I don’t mind a dollar here and there for the belly laughs that come from the kids.

Care.com is something I never thought I would need but depending on my mother and Sabreena so much during the week is sometimes a burden. There are times I need a little hand with getting the kids homework done and dinner in the oven.  I live in an area where there are TONS of teens and young adults from the University.  I can find someone last minute for date night or someone to come 2 days a week to make sure the kids are having a healthy snack and getting their chores done. While there is a FREE option that gives limited access Care.com also has subscription plans that may work better for families in need of more regular care for kids and elderly families.

Verizon Family Base helps me keep track of the time spent glued to a device. This service helps me not only control data usage but gives me the opportunity to see what they are doing online and who they are talking to. For just $5 I’m given the peace of mind that they kids are streaming or texting during class or downloading apps that I don’t agree with.#VZWBuzz Lifestyle Blogger

Any.do is more than just a to-do list creator it’s a tool to use for personal and work life where you can share tasks, notes, reminders and even files.  As a family I can delegate chores to be done if I’ve stuck at the office late.  Since I know I’ll be passing the farmers market each Sunday Morning I can give myself a weekly reminder to pick up the produce for meal planning.

CraftGawker is my lifeline to keep me crafty and inspired lately. I haven’t had much to come up with new ideas for arts and crafts with the kids lately so I look at other people’s creations to at least let the kids know I’m still here even though a touch sidetracked with life.  Find ideas for every skill level, every medium and every crafty niche.

While I’ve linked to the iOS version of these apps many of them also come Android and some even are desktop compatible.

I’m not claiming to have my entire life completely organized with the addition of these 5 apps but I am a better mom because I took some action against the chaos that was happening. Looking for help can be easy with the help of your device that’s already in your hand.  As a busy mom I turn to technology more than I like to admit but in all honesty it’s working for me.

What do you use to keep organized when on the go?  What apps do you use the most to keep your home, family, personal life and work running smoothly?

ORGANize winner of Powerful Answers Award #VZWBuzz

I decided long ago that when I die my body is of no use to me anymore so I want it used for good. I am an organ donor. My husband is an organ donor too.  We both know that there are so many people in need of something in the world and while we do our best while alive to contribute to charity and church our giving doesn’t have to stop there.

YOU ARE 6 TIMES MORE LIKELY TO NEED A TRANSPLANT THAN BE A DONOR.

Organize.org

This statement should resonate with you.  It did with Jenna Arnold and Greg Segal. They’ve put together ORGANize.org, an easier way to not only become an organ donor but a way to share it with everyone that needs to know.  No more making sure your driver’s license has a little sticker. No more worrying your family won’t know of your wishes after you pass away.

ORGANize is still working on getting every state to participate for nationwide recognition.  Right now 44 states are supporting the cause.

95% AMERICANS SUPPORT ORGAN DONATION

BUT ONLY 40% ARE REGISTERED

Lets help ORGANize make it 100%.

Organize.org

Be the kind of human that gives till you can’t give anymore, literally.  Verizon recognizes ORGANize as not just an innovative and technologically advanced company but one that is making huge strides to create an awareness to a problem that shouldn’t be.

Stay tuned to ORGANize as they continue to build their database with the help of Verizon’s Powerful Answers Award. The Powerful Answers Award is a multi-million dollar challenge to entrepreneurs, companies and thinkers worldwide to provide innovative solutions in Education, Healthcare, Sustainability, and Transportation. ORGANize created a solution where one was needed. Information can get to patients and doctors faster for better diagnosis, treatment and usable outputs for better wellness and health in the Organ Donation field. This will hopefully mean a stronger organ donation community and more lives saved.

House of Cards is Back #StreamTeam

House of Cards! House of Cards! It’s so close, I can almost taste it. It was a total accident that we started watching this show in the first place. We had just gotten our Netflix account for the first time and dad was lining up a queue of shows and movies that he wanted to watch. House of Cards had just been added to the collection on Netflix so he tossed it in with the rest of his choices. I didn’t really pay it any mind, we have never been a family that watches political dramas, we are more crime show people. I also knew nothing about it until after we started watching it. I was walking through the living room while my mom and dad were watching the second episode and I instantly sat down and started watching it with them. I was blown away. We were all instantly addicted and we watched it every night until it was done. My dad stayed up late to watch it and he doesn’t stay up late to watch anything during the week, not even football. It would be all we would talk about together for weeks. We would pause between episode to discuss what was going to happen next and my mom was always right because she’s way more deceptive than we are.

House of Cards Season 3 Netflix #StreamTeam
And then when the second season came out I had started work so they watched it without me and I was sad. And then it took me a long time to watch it because it’s not really the kind of show that I like to watch by myself because I really enjoy the discussion and the conspiracies. Also, when I watch tv alone, I like to do other things at the same time like be on my phone and play Animal Crossing so I’m never really paying attention. That’s why I just rewatch Bob’s Burgers, Parks and Recreation, and Archer in rotation because I already know all of the episodes.

Back to my original point, it’s just under one month away until Season 3 of House of Cards and we are all incredibly excited. I’m still not sure if we will be watching together or not but I’m looking forward to it either way. I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn’t seen it. Start watching it now and get caught up before the new season so you don’t get accidently see any spoilers from your friends. And if you have already seen it, rewatch it because I’m sure you’ve forgotten some things and you’re going to be really confused when the new season rolls around. Plus, who doesn’t want to see Francis and Claire Underwood and all of their friends/ enemies/ victims in action again. It’s truly and incredibly show and everything you’ve heard about it is true.

Parental control apps, how to protect your kids online

Cell phone became an inseparable part of our lives both for adults and children. Nowadays, kids spent more than 3 hours online via phones, which can be a good sign as we want our children to be technically educated but at the same time it cannot but alert us of possible online dangers.

The appearance of child monitoring software allows us to control and secure our kids online. We can monitor their calls, messages, social media and block unwanted web resources. To make a clear picture, we created a list of top online risks and ways to protect your child online.Parental control apps, how to protect your kids online

• One of the main risks for your child while browsing the internet is 18+ websites. Such websites contain pornography, violence and racial prejudice. It increases anger and disorientate your kid in aspects of morality and overall general behavior.
Cyberbullying may be one of the most widespread problems among teenagers. It is pretty much the same as traditional bullying but this type is even more rigorous. The fact that children cannot see each other when posting and commenting each other’s photos is giving them the feeling of impregnability. If not noticed, cyberbullying can cause social isolation, anger, sadness and even depression.
• According to the latest statistics, children communicate 50-60% of the time via social media like Facebook, Instagram and text messages. 70% of the target for online predators are children of 14 years and older who are seeking new friends online. The problem of online predators is more crucial than it looks at a glance. More than 30% of children are accepting proposals to meet face to face with strangers they meet online, which can cause dramatic problems and even kidnapping.
Sharing personal information is one more thing our children are willing to do at no cost. Browsing the internet pages for fashion, games and cell phones they are usually filling out the form for so-called “free stuff” online. Such forms may contain physical address, cell phone numbers and even billing account numbers.

Although the list of possible online dangers can go on, we think it is wise to mention solutions other than the problems. Pumpic parental control mobile monitoring app allows you to monitor your child’s online activity, including social media websites like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, VoIP messages on What’sApp and Viber. You can block unwanted 18+ websites and applications, set the time your child is allowed to access the internet and applications. The most important feature of the app is that you can see real-time GPS location of your child to make sure she/he is at home or at school while you are busy. Contact list, scheduled events, photos and videos will be visible to you as well.

Parental control apps are aimed to help you protect and secure your family. It lets you see the activity and location of your child wherever you are whenever you need. The application is easy to install and use, you can monitor it through your PC or personal cell phone.

No More Filters with Dyson Cinetic #DysonUnfiltered on QVC

Dyson is at it again and pushing the boundaries of the same cyclonic technology they pioneered starting 25 years ago. The Cinetic Big Ball uses tiny, oscillating “Cinetic” cyclone tips that are able to spin out the finest of dust without clogging, thus completely negating the need for a filter. To keep traditional vacuums functioning properly, filters need to be maintained – otherwise, suction drops off. No filter means no annoying filter maintenance, which means Dyson Cinetic Big Ball will operate like new – binful after binful, year after year – making it the only vacuum that truly never loses suction.

lferrisDyson Cinetic Big Ball #DysonUnfiltered

We’ve been working with Dyson for many years and are always impressed with the power, quality and performance. It’s no different with the Dyson Cinetic Big Ball. Shaun is the main vacuumer in the house and he immediately noticed the powerful suction on our main rug, the one the dogs use as their bed, play area and lounging pad.

Dyson Cinetic Big Ball™ features:

  • Self-adjusting cleaner head: Dyson’s base plate automatically adapts to every floor surface, to remove dust from hard floors and carpets.
  • Ball™ technology: Sitting on a ball, the Dyson Cinetic Big Ball™ vacuum has a lower center of gravity, making it easy to steer around furniture.
  • Instant release wand: No catches or parts to assemble, it reaches the top of stairs.
  • Close edge pick-up: Slim frame on the soleplate allows for cleaning up to the baseboard.
  • Hygienic bin emptying: With the press of a button, dust and dirt can be emptied directly into the waste bin.
  • Warranty: 5 year limited manufacturer’s warranty.lferris

Starting on January 15, 2015 you’ll be able to pick up the Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal, $599.99 and Dyson Cinetic Animal, $549.99 exclusively at QVC at 800.345.1515, the QVC apps and QVC.com.

What to Watch in 2015 Netflix #StreamTeam

The New Year is here and I’m so excited for all of the new things that Netflix has coming out next year. Orange is the New Black Season 3 is coming some time in mid 2015. Hopefully the next seasons of Archer and Bobs Burgers will be out soon too. I know my sister is excited about the new show, All Hail King Julien, which is all about the King of the Lemurs from Madagascar. All Hail King Julien Netflix #StreamTeam

There have been tons of great movies and shows on Netflix this year. We can expect new seasons of many of these next year so everyone needs to get caught up soon. These are the 15 shows and movies I think everyone should watch in 2015.What to Watch in 2015 on NetFlix, Movies, Shows and Cartoons #StreamTeam
Shows
1. Parks and Recreation
My all time favorite show. With 6 seasons to go through, there is plenty to catch up on. This is a perfect show if you love binge watching and laughing and Chris Pratt.
2. Orange is the New Black
An amazing look into a women’s prison based on an autobiography. Every character is developed and interesting and bring their own zest to the story. The best part for me is looking into the histories of the inmates and learning how their lives lead them to prison.
3. Criminal Minds
The best crime show ever made. Look into the minds of serial killers and learn way too much about the psychology behind murder. There are a ton of episodes to keep you occupied for weeks.
4. Walking Dead
Because it’s currently on TV, Netflix isn’t caught up completely but there are still 4 full season to watch. It’s got zombies and excellent characters and an elaborate story, all of which make it a great show. There are four seasons to go through and the new one is usually added some time in the fall.
5. The Killing
This show was originally on television but was canceled before it was finished. Netflix picked it up for the last season and gave us an incredible finale. It’s a crime thriller with tons of suspense but every seasons finale is incredible. This is a show I would highly recommend.

Cartoons
6. Archer
A weird concept with great execution; Archer follows a team of spies as they go on secret missions and also while they deal with dumb interpersonal conflicts. It’s funny and really weird and everyone should give it a try. It might not be everyone’s sense of humor but it could take some of you by surprise.
7. Bobs Burgers
This follows a family running a burger restaurant deal with low income and all of the other curves life can throw at you in a hilarious way. It shows events that are possible in real life but unlikely to actually happen to any sane person. They’re hilarious and strange but it’s an adorable show that anyone can laugh at.
8. Courage the Cowardly Dog
This is an older show from when I was a kid. It’s really bizarre but for me it’s a classic. It’s also more for older kids because it can be a tad scary and disturbing at times.
9. The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy
Another cartoon from my childhood. The saddest thing to me is that all of the episodes aren’t on Netflix but I’ll take what I can get. This show is the definition of weird. The episodes don’t go in order and they don’t follow any kind of logic. It’s a show about two kids who force the Grim Reaper to be their best friend forever and they meet all kinds of paranormal and supernatural creatures including a giant spider that thinks Billy is his dad and Count Dracula in his later years. Just watch it, I can’t explain it.
10. Adventure Time
Your kids probably already watch this show. I did even before Netflix and I have a few seasons on DVD. It’s adorable and fable-esqe with each episode teaching a lesson. But it also a lot of fun with adventures and monsters and a little bit of romance. This is a show mom and dad would approve of their kids watching. It also has a deep backstory which only the older viewers would be able to comprehend.

Movies
11. Silver Linings Playbook
It was Oscar nominated so you know it’s great but I didn’t hear a ton of buzz about it when it was in theaters. Even if you’ve already seen it, watch it again, it’s a great movie about family and mental illness and how the two are related. And Jennifer Lawrence is in it and she’s adorable.
12. Django Unchained
Not quite the same scope as the other movies on this list. It’s a Quentin Tarantino movie so it’s crazy violent but it’s also incredibly funny. It’s an all around great film that’s a lot of fun for mom and dad. Definitely make sure the kids are gone when you turn this one on though.
13. Annie
Watch the original on Netflix and then go see the reboot in theaters. Both are terrific in their own ways and Annie is a great introduction to the world of musicals and theater for young kids.
14. Camp Takota
It’s indie, it’s adorable, it’s all about friendship. It’s just a cute story about a girl who gets cheated on so she heads back to her childhood camp for the summer; you know a classic storyline. But it is a lot of fun.
15. What Maisie Knew
My mom and I watched it together and we didn’t know anything about it going into it but it turned out to be incredible. It’s so sweet to follow this little girl through her life and her parents dysfunctional life and separation, remarriage and more. But it ends in a great (but odd) way and I enjoyed every minute of it.

How Do You #GiveBack

How To #GiveBack for the HolidaysEach holiday season I think about our kid’s holiday wishlists and immediately get overwhelmed. This year I didn’t let that happen because I stated early on that we’re doing a simpler Christmas.  This is an punishment for them. It was a way to open their eyes to see what was really needed in their lives.

Instead of pages and pages of gift ideas the kids really thought about the things they needed and wanted. The lists are short, deliberate and well thought out.

Even though our own gift giving is smaller scale this year that doesn’t mean we aren’t giving to others. Hasbro included me in their holiday review opportunity but instead of showering my kids with more toys that they don’t need I decided to give everything away to children in need.

Rob’s employer set up an angel for children in the community that weren’t expecting a very good holiday season. We pulled 5 names and donated everything (but 1 thing) to those children.  I’m hoping our small gesture brings a smile to their faces. Every child deserves something of their own, not just on the holidays but every day. As a family we give what we can.  Some weeks we are donating to the food bank or toiletries to the women’s shelter or blankets and towels to the pet shelter. Every donation is helpful.

We also give when we can to Child Hunger Ends Here. As a young child I often didn’t know when and where my next meal was coming from. This shouldn’t happen. No child should ever know what hunger feels like. There are too many resources in this country to allow this to happen. We incorporate efforts in our everyday. Our children always have an extra snack in their lunch box just in case a classmate goes without. Our grocery shopping includes brands that stand for the same cause. We’ve helped grow a community garden.

Do what you can to #GiveBack this holiday season. But remember others need help all year long. Choose a cause or two that you are passionate about and give them your attention for 2015.

This is in no way sponsored by #VZWBuzz but as a collective we are sharing our stories, efforts and organizations on how we want to #GiveBack this holiday season. Find inspiration from other members of the team.

Doctor Up Store Bought Ingredients

Creating meals and desserts from scratch might be the the best way to nourish your family but who really has time to home cook every single meal. Even though I work from home, meal plan and enjoy cooking and baking I can’t prepare everything for a meal homemade. When I can I do but when I can’t I doctor up store bought ingredients to make my own. These little cheats are a great way to create meals that are your own but without the hassle of too many pots, pans and ingredients when you’re low on time, budget and even interest.

Doctor Up Store Bought IngredientsI know my family would love the taste of a long, slow simmered tomato sauce for our pasta dishes but I just DON’T want to babysit something like that so I opt for my kitchen hack instead.

Create a wonderfully Spicy Pasta Sauce using what comes in a jar as a base. It’s easy to make it all your own with the addition of herbs, vinegar and browned meats. My little trick is to saute a lot of garlic, 5 cloves, in 1/4 cup of olive oil and 2 tsps of butter over low heat so it doesn’t burn. Let that go for a couple minutes, add 2-3 pinches of red pepper flakes, 2 tbsp of red wine vinegar then your jarred sauce. These couple little steps gives your sauce a whole new depth of flavor with very little effort.Doctor Up Store Bought Ingredients

With Holidays centered around the dining table you want to serve dishes that you are proud of. Boxed Stuffing mix can easily be elevated with the addition of sauteed diced veggies, chopped apples and cooked crumbled sausage. No one has to know you took a shortcut.

Instant Mashed Potatoes are not my favorite dish. I always have them on hand though. They make a delicious thickener for soups and stews and bulk up homemade smashed potatoes when I’m short on ingredients but making them taste good on their own takes a few extra steps.  Start with a flavorful stock instead of water and don’t be afraid to increase the butter to 4 tbls as well as 1/4 cup of sour cream. To get an extra creamy feel skip them milk and go for heavy cream.  Doctor Up Store Bought Ingredients

While we LOVE to use our smoker for pulled pork and wings and brisket I’m not big on BBQ Sauce. That doesn’t mean everyone else in my house isn’t. This means we always have bottled stuff in the house. This is one of the simpler things to spruce up.  With the addition of hot sauce, honey, Worcestershire and molasses you can prepare something that no one will ever expect came out of a bottle.

Homemade baked goods are the best things are earth, that is until it is you having to make them. There was a time when I loved baking cakes from scratch but these days I just don’t have the time. This goes for Frosting. Buy  what you can from the store and give a simple vanilla flavor a new life with the addition of 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter, pinch of sea salt and a drizzle of heavy cream.  Chocolate frosting can be made better with non other than MORE chocolate. Mix 1/4 cup melted chocolate and 1/2 cup powdered sugar till you get the right consistency.  For a more gourmand experience top your sweets with chopped nuts, coconut or even chocolate chips.

A $.69 box of corn muffin mix is hard to pass up so don’t. With the addition of a 6oz plain or vanilla yogurt you’ll end up with a sweeter moist Cornbread.Doctor Up Store Bought Ingredients

If you went through all the trouble of making a beautiful roast chicken you should also serve a delicious Gravy on the side. Start with caramelized chopped onions and garlic, crushed thyme and pan drippings and top that off with a jarred gravy of choice to ensure you have plenty.

There was a time when Shae didn’t like my homemade mac and cheese. This broke my heart but she was little so I knew it would just take a little time to change her taste buds. In order to get the rest of the family to eat boxed Mac and Cheese I doctored it up by adding 1/2 cup shredded cheese and whole milk. This 2 little changes make a huge difference, enough to get the rest of the family to eat it once in a while. For a bigger treat top the prepared dish with bread crumbs and toss under the broiler for 2-4 minutes for a crisp crust.

This are just some of the shortcuts we take on our home. What do you do to get through meal time when time is of the essence? What is your best kitchen hack?

My Favorite Movies as a Kid

As a little kid I had about 75 VHS tapes in my room and I watched every single one of them hundreds of times. I’ve always loved movies and I love re watching all of the movies that I loved as a child. These are the movies that I always ask for on DVD when Christmas rolls around. Some of them are classics and some of them are just my favorites. But all of them are on Netflix and they’re all great picks for you and your kids to enjoy together. This is my list of my Top Ten Favorite Movies from My Childhood.

Classic Kids Movies on Netflix

Dumbo
An adorable but incredibly sad story about a flying baby elephant shrew. Baby Mine is one of the saddest lullabies ever written but it’s so beautiful. This movie is super weird though, those pink elephants still freak me out. Only 60 minutes though, great if your kids have short attention spans!

The Prince of Egypt
This is actually the biblical story of Moses. It’s a great way to introduce these kinds of stories to kids who may be having trouble understanding the complex story telling in the bible. However, there are some graphic scenes in this movie involving slavery and death so parents should use their  best judgement on whether it is appropriate for their kids.Favorite Classic Kids Movies on Netflix #StreamTeam

Treasure Planet
Great adventure tale, a journey of a young boy to find riches for his family and redeem his past mistakes. It also has excellent role models for girls and boys including the tough female captain of the ship and the fearless young man who is leading the expedition.

Lilo and Stitch
Everybody loves Stitch. He’s adorable and destructive but he loves and protects Lilo no matter what. This movie sparked a TV show and two sequels but the original is one of my favorite movies. The soundtrack is a hilarious compilation of Elvis tracks and beautiful Hawaiian music. It’s a must watch!

Tarzan
Phil Collins is one of my favorite musician. He went all out on this soundtrack and they are still some of my favorite songs. And it has talking elephants and gorillas. There is a rather dark ending though involving the antagonist falling to his death through some tangled vines but it’s still a great movie for kids. Do not watch Tarzan and Jane though, it’s terrible and you will feel disappointed.  If you must watch a sequel watch Tarzan 2, that ones okay.Favorite Classic Kids Movies on Netflix #StreamTeam

Hercules
Kind of unknown but one of my favorite movies of all-time. The Muses are my favorite Disney characters and they help pull the whole story together. My sister and I both love this movie and I highly recommend it for all ages. As Shae put it, “I like it.” Shae Babiak everyone, such a way with words:P

FernGully: The Last Rainforest
This movie is secretly propaganda against the destruction of the environment but it’s still great and interesting and heartfelt. You follow a little fairy as she pulls a human into her world to show the effects that cutting down the forest has on those who live in it. This movie also has on of the best villain songs in any movie which is sung by Tim Curry. And the late Robin Williams plays a crazy bat so you know it’s going to be funny.

Anastasia
A forgotten princess since she isn’t a part of the Disney family. Anastasia however has strength and resilience and is an excellent role model. She is true to herself and wants nothing more than to find her family. As she and her friends travel from Russia to Paris they face trials but in front of them by the evil Rasputin and must work together to get to Anastasia’s grandmother. Rasputin is hilarious and so is Bartok, his adorable bat friend. I wish Bartok’s movie was on Netflix, it might be even better than Anastasia.

Pocahontas
While it’s not the most accurate tale it is a great way to show the way Natives were treated by the settlers when they came to America. And the songs are beautiful and the animals are cute and the princess is strong and wise and fearless and I wish I was her. This is a great movie for anyone of any age. Also the sequel is pretty good so you’re cleared to watch that one too.

Mulan
Hardcore and honorable, Mulan is a powerful warrior who dresses as a man to protect her aging father from war. She must work together with her unlikely friends to save China from the Huns. Plus this movie has “I’ll Make A Man Out of You” one of the greatest Disney songs ever written. Mulan kicks butt and doesn’t back down from any challenge. The sequel is good but the animation looks really weird so if you do watch it make sure you watch the weird snoopy faces they all make.

Runner-Ups

Robin Hood
It’s the story of Robin Hood but with animals, what’s not to love!

The Emperors New Groove
Such a weird movie but definitely one of David Spades best roles. Maybe his best role. He’s basically playing David Spade but he’s a llama. It’s a really weird movie.Favorite Classic Kids Movies on Netflix #StreamTeam
Chicken Run
Might be weirder than The Emperors New Groove. It’s the story of some chickens who try to learn how to fly from a flightless rooster. It was weird when I was a kid too. But it’s funny and the claymation is incredible. It’s just a silly movie to watch with your kids.
