Winner Chosen: Mommy’s ER Recapitulation

Barely Domestic Mama, June 18, 2009 8:36 AM

I’ve got your button on my blog’s sidebar.

I’m a little to no medicine kind of person. Not just for me either but for my kids. I wasn’t always like this; I remember dosing Sabreena with cough and cold products when she was little. As she grew up and Shaun and Shae came along I started to realize that these products either did little to relive symptoms or were masking more severe ailments. I started pay closer attention to other things that worked and really prefer natural remedies to things like teething, cough and fever.
Some of these remedies and many more have been captured into one DVD series called Mommy’s ER. Mommy’s ER is a 3-part instructional DVD series that teaches moms (and dads!) safe, simple, at-home methods to treat common children’s ailments naturally. I’ve viewed all three DVDs and was quite impressed with the detail as to where Jennifer Crain has gone into not only explaining the methods but as to why they work. The demonstrations are clear and Jennifer’s voice is calming but confident. The first DVD goes through Acute Conditions such as fever, vomiting, earache and other sudden illness that can affect your child. DVD 2 covers chronic health issues such as asthma, allergies and chronic ear infections while DVD 3 is devoted to maintaining a healthy lifestyle with preventative care such as boosting their immune system.

DVD 3 is my favorite. I’m always wondering what I can do better to keep my kids healthy. I have always tried to keep my kids away from excessive sugar especially processed sugars but to find out that sugar, especially white sugar can reduce the effectiveness of our immune systems was startling. Here is Jennifer Crain discussing the importance of sleep for our children.

Jennifer Crain, creator of Mommy ER is a practicing acupuncturist who specializes in treating a variety of children’s health conditions through acupressure, Japanese-style acupuncture and nutritional healing. Founder and owner of The Goji Seed Eastern health clinic in Austin, Texas, Jennifer divides her time between private consultations on children’s and women’s health, and traveling in search of the newest remedies and approaches to natural healing. Prior to opening The Goji Seed and starting Mommy’s ER, Jennifer worked as a reproductive health researcher at University of California at San Francisco and a virologist for the state of California, providing health care and health education to underserved populations. For six years, she directed public health programs in Latin America, where she developed and managed programs in maternal-child healthcare, nutrition and immunization campaigns. She holds a Master’s Degree in Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine from the Academy of Oriental Medicine in Austin. Jennifer opened the Goji Seed Clinic in 2005, where her integrated, holistic approach was quickly embraced by the local community. She has also extensively studied yoga and meditation as tools for health and well-being.

If you are interested in introducing natural changes and therapies into yours and your child’s lives than I would highly suggest purchasing the Mommy’s ER DVD series. It is a comprehensive look into a blend of Eastern and Western medicine and it’s alternatives to an over-use of antibiotics and prescription and over the counter medications. Please understand that this information is not intended to replace your doctor’s recommendations or diagnosis but to add to or supplement while you are waiting for professional advice or care.

Jennifer Crain is giving a Mommy ER DVD series to a LookWhatMomFound reader.

Winner Chosen: American Kids Bedding

I would like the tea party or the olivia set.

June 23, 2009 10:49 PM

If you read my husband’s site (PB and Smelly’s Dad) you’d know that Shae recently went into her big girl bed. We were all excited to move furniture around and work on her staying in bed that we skipped a step…….BEDDING. Yup, mom forgot that the kid needed bedding like everyone else.
American Kids Bedding stepped in and hooked the little girl up. She’s got her own gorgeous floral quilt, sham, sheets and bed skirt. I picked a color palette that was similar to her crib bedding because I’m not a fan of baby pastels. Flowers for Hanna arrived and I quickly fell in love. Rich chocolate brown accents with modern vibrant orange and pink flowers and purple trim fit perfectly with Shae’s colorful personality. She was so excited when we first made her bed she now runs around the house yelling “Big Girl Bed” and gets mad if anyone lays in it. Her bed is lowered right now so the skirt has to wait but everything else fit perfectly. The quilt is a generous size so that we both can fit under it for naps but also soft enough that she can stay on top of it for warmer days. I’m extremely pleased with the quality and color of this gorgeous set from American Kids Bedding.

Heidi, a mother of 3 girls started American Kids Bedding out of passion to create a successful child oriented company as well as stay home to be the main care provider for her children.

“American Kids Bedding allows me to do both. The reason I chose kids bedding was because when looking for my own children there was such a poor selection in all the department stores. All you had to choose from was Sponge Bob, Hannah Montana and Barbie. So I felt it would be great to have a large selection of different styles. Our company is growing day by day and for me this is just the tip of the ice berg and I am very driven for success.”

Just one look at the trendy selections you’ll see why choosing American Kids Bedding is the better choice from discount retailers out there. With her attention to detail, Heidi is able to offer a unique variety for crib bedding, big kid bedding and teen bedding plus individual sheet sets and wall décor to complete a bedroom makeover.

For your next bedroom makeover shop American Kids Bedding before looking anywhere else. Feel extra good about that purchase too because for the month of June, $5 of every quilt set purchase is being donated to Breast Cancer Research through Wings of Hope. Use discount code MomFoundIt for a $9.99 off your purchase, this basically gives you free shipping for orders under $200.

American Kids Bedding has recently experienced the news that a close family member was diagnosed with breast cancer, news that each and everyone of us dreads. So during the month of June we will be donating $5.00 for each quilt set purchased to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Together we can make a difference, 1 dollar at a time. We thank you in advance for your kindness and support.

Win a child’s sheet set from American Kids Bedding. Visit American Kids Bedding and tell me what quilt set you’d love to have for your little one.

There is nothing as sweet as a baby and her lovey. Just ask Shae and her new yumminess from Child to Cherish. Winner Chosen…Miraclesuit, lose 10lbs in 10 seconds GIVEAWAY

Lisa, June 8, 2009 10:17 AM 2

I’m a follower and I tweeted.

It’s the same old story every year, summer is here and that means bathing suit season. You can stop screaming now because I have an AWESOME swimsuit to show you. The Miraclesuit swimsuit is a unique new swimsuit that contours, shapes, slims and firms the body. It’s called the Miraclesuit because it has three times the “holding power” of the average swimsuit and accomplishes this without the conventional girdle control linings. The magic is in the fabric, called Miratex, which has three times more Spandex than traditional swimsuits. Add that to the unique design, cutting and engineering of the swimsuit, women appear to lose 10 pounds when wearing the Miraclesuit which has sizes up to 18DD.

Sounds like a load of crap right? I kinda thought so too, that was until I tried one on for myself. I actually smiled when I saw myself in the mirror, I even went downstairs to show Rob who was in the kitchen. Its biggest promise of giving the illusion of losing 10lbs was right on the money. It sucked and tucked and hid the waves and rolls. Even better it was comfortable, no corset feeling at all. The support was great, I encourage you to follow the sizing instructions carefully. I was tempted to downsize as I’m slowly getting in better shape but I’m glad I didn’t, the girls wouldn’t have had the hold they needed. I wore the Sonatina yesterday to the beach and I was completely comfortable; nothing shifted or moved out of place. It was sexy but covered all the right places, letting me be a mom but still feeling like a woman.

To purchase your own Miraclesuit and check out specific sizing and styles visit Macy’s, Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Cyberswim.com and other fine retailers.

Miraclesuit is generously giving a LookWhatMomFound reader a swimsuit of their own. Pick your favorite Miraclesuit and size by visiting Cyberswim.com. Come tell me what you would love to win.

Winner Chosen: YouCanMakeThis.com Recapitulation

I would love to get “The Ruffler…Unruffled!” I can’t figure out how to use mine at all. the name pillow looks like something that my daughter would love!!!

mudpiesandmaryjanes(at)gmail(dot)com

I have a fondness for all things handmade. Some of my most cherish possessions are a hand crocheted blanket from my grandmother, a fridge magnet Sabreena made in pre-k and a macaroni necklace from Shaun. I consider myself a bit crafty, I’ve made my fair share of gifts and simple clothing but YouCanMakeThis.com has boosted my craftiness tremendously. With their easy to read, easy to follow ebooks anyone can create gorgeous pieces like a pro.

I was generously sent the Personalized Name Pillow eBook. At first I was a little overwhelmed at the 22 page document. After reading it I realized most of the pages were the letters for personalization and the instructions weren’t really that long. All the details were spelled out clearly; I never had to second guess what I was doing or think that I might have missed a step. It took me a couple weeks to even get started because I thought I had all the materials so I suggest taking the materials needed page with you to the store. Overall it took a few hours total from start to finish to complete my pillow. Unfortunately I can’t show my pillow because it is a gift for someone who reads my site but it is adorable. I didn’t buy any fabric; I used scraps I had on hand so it has a very shabby chic look.

If you want to delve into handmade gifts and clothing and crafting YouCanMakeThis.com needs to be your first stop. I plan on purchasing a handbag eBook and a couple baby items, one can never give too many baby gifts.

I was pleasantly surprised at the ease of making my pillow and praise YouCanMakeThis.com for supplying such a fantastic service.

Do you want your own Personalized Name Pillow eBook? YouCanMakeThis.com is giving 2 LookWhatMomFound readers a copy for themselves.

Winner Chosen…Little Allergies Allergen Block Givewaway

Jennifer, June 8, 2009 10:57 PM
20 I follow your blog

When the seasons change it brings along allergy issues for so many people. This is very true of my little friend Carter. We go to the park very often and it usually ends quickly as he usually spends the time sneezing and rubbing his eyes. I feel bad for him but there isn’t much more I can do for him, until now.

The makers of Little Remedies products, Little Allergies® Allergen Block is a topical gel that are applied outside the nostrils to block allergens on contact. They are the FIRST solutions available for allergies that prevent symptoms rather than treating them after they hit. Because they are drug-free, there are no side effects or danger of potential drug interactions. Chloraseptic® and Little Allergies® Allergen Block products are patented formulations which are designed to work in a novel fashion. The gentle, positively-charged water-based gels help filter negatively-charged allergens in the air on contact. Filtering allergens such as pollen, ragweed, pet dander, and dust mites, helps stop them from entering the nasal passages, where they can cause allergic symptoms such as runny nose and sneezing. Therefore, unlike existing allergy products that treat allergy symptoms once the symptoms have started, Allergen Block products, when used as directed, help prevent the start of mild nasal allergy symptoms by reducing the number of allergen particles entering the nostrils. Allergen Block products are safe for children 12 years and younger like all the Little Remedies products because they are drug-free and free of unnecessary additives and dyes. The entire Little Remedies® line is made exclusively for children so they “get everything they need and nothing they don’t.”
I was able to apply Little Allergies to Carter’s nose before we went outside and I did notice a decrease in sneezing and overall discomfort. We were able to stay at the playground for a couple hours and he seemed happy.
Little Allergies® Allergen Block can be purchased at drug stores, mass merchandisers and supermarkets. for approximately $14.99.
Win a tube of Little Allergies® Allergen Block to help your child’s battle against nasal allergies.
Visit Little Allergies® and tell me something you learned about the product or company that isn’t mentioned above.

Winner Chosen: N-fini Shape Recapitulation

Left a message on your healthy tips (see link below), maybe if I follow them I won’t have to use the shapewear LOL

Don’t we all have those little flaws we’d love to hide? Sometimes it’s done with cosmetics or a specific haircut or just the right length skirt. But what about the imperfections that need a little more help? What about the lumps and bumps that happen under our clothes? I’ve purchased so many different brands of slimming/shaping bodywear over the past several years thanks to the umpteen weddings and parties and while they served their purpose for a short while the overall effect didn’t last long. Have you ever sat down in a bodyshaper just to have it roll in the wrong direction? Once you stand up the imperfection you were trying to hide is now magnified by the elastic and spandex pushing it the wrong way.
I want to introduce everyone to N-Fini Shape. This is the best body shaper that I have found. N-Fini Shape has perfected slimwear with their wide selection of camisoles, bodysuits, bottoms, sports bras and dresses. Long gone are the days of pinching boning, excessive hook & eye closures and too tight spandex. N-fini Shape gives the wearer a seamless, smooth finish under her regular clothes. Silky smooth microfiber & spandex material teams up with non-invasive micro-fiber elastic trim to stay put, leaving you with comfortable and supportive shapewear that is wearable all day. No matter what shape or size you are there is an N-fini Shape product for you, giving you coverage top to bottom in sizes from small to 4X, N-fini Shape is made to fit women.

I was lucky enough to receive the Cami Shaper Bra and Underwire. I’ve used it a couple times and each time I was thoroughly pleased. It stayed in place all day, even the straps stayed put. N-fini Shape smoothed the bumps and rolls under my new favorite summer shirt. Rather than just tell you how well this worked for me I’ll show you. Sorry for the NO smile 🙂

One lucky LookWhatMomFound reader is going to receive an N-fini Shape piece of her own.

Winner Chosen…Kokopax Blakely Tote GIVEAWAY

Kaburton at comcastdot net

One of the hardest shopping decisions to make while preparing for baby is picking the perfect diaper bag. The diaper bag is your right hand man; holding all of your belongings in an orderly fashion. Somewhere along the line of finding something useful and practical we’ve lost the fashion.

Kokopax has brought the fashion back without losing the function. The Blakely Ring Tote is a stylish bag o-ring handled bag that closely resembles a handbag but does the duty of a diaper bag. With 3 large inner pockets, separate zipper pocket, bottle/beverage compartment and included clutch this makes not only a great diaper bag but also an overnight bag, beach bag or craft tote. The Blakely Ring Tote has a trendy selection of cotton canvas outer materials with nylon inner; both durable and washable to stand up to regular use and stay looking good.

Kokopax was started in 2007 with a classic framed backpack carrier, modernized with chic materials. Designer and creator, Sarah Spoor, was in need of a hands free solution to carry her babies while cooking, caring for her other children, tending to household activities and moving about regular life. The Kokopax classic carrier was designed; it was the first product from the Kokopax name. The Blakely Tote came soon after, using the same stylish materials, it is a lightweight gorgeous alternative to the bulky diaper bags we have gotten used to seeing. The children’s sun hat and organic monkey attachment for the carrier are the latest additions with the Kokopax name and are meant to complement the existing products.

“At the kitchen table, long after our babies were asleep, my husband and I thought about a company name. It came easily, from two of my favorite childhood books, Pattycake and Koko’s Kitten. I used to love monkeys and gorillas because they were the next best thing to a real baby. They also carry their babies on their backs. The “pax” play seemed logical because it sounds like “packs,” but means “peace” in Latin. We are all for peace when it comes to carrying babies. “

The family behind Kokopax believes in dreams, otherwise there wouldn’t be a Kokopax. Courage and determination is what pulled Sarah Spoor through to see her dreams come true. This is why they partnered with I-am-perfect to donate 10% of organic line proceeds. I-Am-Perfect is a foundation that serves children with special needs.

Buy anything from Kokopax and receive 10% off with discount code lwmf2009.

Kokopax is giving my readers that chance to win the Blakely Ring Tote of their choice. VISIT Kokopax and tell me which fabric you would choose!

Winner Chosen…Happy Heinys cloth diaper GIVEAWAY

Courtney said…
I like the Royal Blue Size L.

courtneytarver85 at yahoo dot com

May 28, 2009 9:36 PM

When I found out I was pregnant with Shae, to say it was a surprise is an understatement. I was living my baby fever through the mamas at Babytalkbio.com (now The Mamasphere) as they got pregnant, had babies, discussed cool new baby gear and best of all introduced me to cloth diapers. Cloth diapering was never a thought when Sabreena and Shaun were little but all of a sudden all of my “friends” were doing it. I even joked about “If I ever get pregnant again I’m going to cloth diaper”. Well it happened and I kept my promise.

I spent months researching what was going to right for us. We started with prefolds and fitteds with covers then moved to pockets and All-in-Ones from so many different companies and WAHMs. I’ve had some old-faithfuls and some that didn’t last and some that needed a few months till the fit was right. I’m always on the search for a great fitting diaper and I found two from Happy Heinys, the One-Size Pocket Diaper and a regular Pocket Diaper. I always considered Happy Heinys to be one of the “brand name” cloth diapers but never got around to trying them, no particular reason

Itty Bitty Baby Bunz offered me the chance to test these two diapers side by side. I use other One-Size diapers and overall haven’t been impressed in the last several months. Shae is a bottom heavy baby, chunky thighs and full booty, so we often get some butt crack due to the too-short rise. The Happy Heinys One-Size was fantastic. When I first opened them I immediately noticed the super stretch and WIDE aplix closure. These diapers fit so good, I honestly didn’t think I could get such a good fit with a one-size, they say fits newborn to 35 pounds but we are already hovering 32lbs and I see potential in lasting till potty training. The fit is trim, the inner fleece is buttery soft and the Hot Pink color is vibrant. The One-Size comes with 2 inserts, a full size and a small for when the diaper is snapped in the newborn or small setting. I use the small on top of the large insert as extra protection during nap-time.

The sized Pocket Diaper has also be a great addition in the rotation. Again a very trim fit with full booty coverage, super soft inner and bright colors and an extra large pocket opening to make stuffing quick. I choose aplix closure for easy diaper changes for Rob and Sabreena, yes Shae can get them off but I can stop that with bloomers or shorts. I actually prefer the custom fit with aplix (Velcro) closures and Happy Heinys have some of the widest tabs I’ve seen and better yet they lay flat. This makes it a little harder for Shae to pull them off, there aren’t corners sticking up begging for her attention. The regular pocket diapers do not come with inserts; this allows you to choose the style/material insert you prefer and also the absorption level. I use inserts I’ve accumulated or trifolded microfiber towels and I’ll snag the small insert from the One-Size for naptime or another booster we have on hand. We don’t do cloth at bedtime since she’s such a heavy wetter but Happy Heinys say they have tested for up to 12 hours or more for bedtime, I’m not ready to try that yet, maybe when she’s closer to potty training.

I’m glad I finally got to try out Happy Heinys but sad I waited so long. She is almost 2; I could’ve had that much more time to enjoy the great fit and no leak goodness!

Are you interested in taking the leap into Cloth Diapering? Are you a seasoned CDer and want to experience a Happy Heiny for yourself? Itty Bitty Baby Bunz wants to give one of my readers a Happy Heiny Pocket Diaper.

VISIT Itty Bitty Baby Bunz, and tell what size and color Happy Heinys Pocket Diaper would be perfect for your cloth diapering needs!

Started by teacher and baker Ebony Richardson Jackson, Oh So Sweet Treats was born out of her love of sweets and experimenting with new things. Using only top-notch ingredients and offering first class customer service keeps people coming back for more and trying out the unique flavor combinations. Some of May’s cupcakes of the month include Irish Cream Dream and Champagne Wishes.
