Sol Republic Deck Giveaway

We tried to squeeze in all the summer possible over the last few weeks. A trip to the beach was on the agenda and we packed like we were gonna stay for days. Turns out the weather was pretty perfect and we sat in that sand for hours and hours while the kids played and swam. We were prepared with good food, great company and excellent sounds from the Sol Republic Deck.

When we got to the beach  (a little later than wanted) we found it a bit overcrowded. Seemed like everyone else had the same idea.

We settled in right next to the lifeguards with a big space for a long soak in the sun. Adding music to the squawking of the seagulls and crash of the waves was a great combination.Sol Republic Deck on Beach

This was the first time we hooked up the Sol Republic Deck. We didn’t test it at home and there really was no need to. The connection was clear, the music was loud and the battery hasn’t failed us yet.

The Deck is truly portable, wireless speaker that allows you to roam up to 300 feet away giving you room to mingle, eat and replenish the chips for a party.  The coolest feature would be the ability to connect to up to 5 devices at one time, called Heist Mode. This gives your friends and family the chance to take control the music from their own phones or tablets.

This would be the perfect gift for the dorm room, bedroom, garage workshop or outdoor party on the deck. The 360° sound has much better quality than anything coming from a smartphone or tablet.  Included with the Deck is this snug carry case to protect against sand, water, scratches and more.Sol republic Deck carry bag

Give the gift of music to someone special in your life. Or enter to win the gift of music here at LookWhatMomFound.com.  Let us know who would love the Sol Republic Deck.Sol Republic Deck Giveaway

HALO Pocket Power Charger Recap

Just a couple of weeks ago I was sent a HALO Pocket Charger. It has a fashionable look and small profile (think tube of mascara) but I was skeptical because there was so much focus on the looks there was no way it was going to perform well. I’m pretty good at keeping my phone charged but my Kindle Fire often dies while I’m reading it. I was headed to football practice and realized that of course my Kindle Fire had no juice so I plugged it into the HALO for the short drive. It gave me enough power to read a few chapters.
HALO Pocket Charger with wrong cable
All summer I’ve been packing for quick trips to the beach with the kids. The process is simple; I pack clothes and necessities and the kids are in charge of their own personal belongings that they want to bring. This usually is a blanket, pillow, stuffed animal, iPod, gaming device and movies for the car. Shae is my thinker. She not only grabs her iPod but her charger and wall adapter. Shaun on the other hand does NOT and is complaining 20 minutes into a car ride that his iPod is dying. Shae being the nice sister lets him borrow the charger but on our most recent trip I packed those things in the trunk in the bags.

Being the smart mom I am I had Shaun charge his iPod on my HALO because I keep it in my purse. I will admit that the first couple of times I tossed my HALO in my bag I forget crucial items to go along with it. The photo above shows the Kindle being charged with the wrong cable, but it worked.
HALO Pocket Charger #giveaway

The HALO Pocket Power Charger from QVC comes with a USB charging cable and 3 interchangeable adapter tips so that you can charge tablets, Bluetooth devices, cameras, phones and gaming devices. Have an iPhone 5? Use your own USB cable to power up. The HALO itself charges through your computer or laptop, no outlet needed.

One thing to remember is to POWER OFF the HALO when you are done charging your device. It will hold a charge up to 12 months when not in use but will drain if those lights are lit up green. Everything you need fits neatly inside an included pouch so it stays contained in your purse, luggage, laptop bag or beach bag. For just $29.98 this is the perfect gift for anyone that wants to stay connected to their technology.

HALO Pocket Charger When the 2800mAH HALO Pocket Power is fully charged itself, it can:

  • Charge a Blackberry over 1.5 times on a single battery.
  • Charge an iPhone 3 over 1.5 times on a single battery.
  • Charge the iPhone 4 1.5 times on a single battery.
  • Partially charge a Pandigital tablet.
  • Charge the Samsung Galaxy S 1.25 times on a single battery.
  • It can also partially charge a Samsung Galaxy S in 10 seconds in order to make a call!

ROKU 2 XS Streaming Player Giveaway

In our bedroom we have a really old television that I won when I was still working over 12 years ago. It’s a 32 inch television and it gets the job done. We only use it really at bed time or when the kids are sick they like to stay in our bed all day and watch TV. The only real problem is that it has none of the conveniences of today’s technology. There’s no inputs for internet connection so we can’t watch our Netflix’s account.

When I heard of the ROKU 2 XS Streaming Player I was a little skeptical that it would even work on such an old television. However, the box clearly states that it “works with virtually any TV.” I also assumed that it was going to be well out of my comfort zone to hook up. I’m not completely technologically illiterate, I usually can figure most things out after a while, but I really thought this was going to be way out of my league. That definitely wasn’t the case here, all that was in the box was the ROKU player, remote control, A/V cable and a power adapter. Since we don’t have any input outlets on the TV because it’s so old but we do have a dvd player hooked up to the TV, I just plugged the A/V cable into the dvd player. Then, I plug the power adapter into the outlet and that was it. I turned the TV on and after about 5 minutes of registering the ROKU and connected it our wireless router it was up and running.

Now we can access Netflix, we can listen to Pandora, and the kids can play Angry Birds all day long. There are also hundreds of applications that you can add, such as news channels, Hulu Plus, HBO GO, Crackle and Disney Channel. Some apps are free while others do charge a fee. Now the girls can’t wait to be home sick from school now. Their options are limitless now since they love Netflix’s and could play Angry Birds all from the comforts of a bed.

Roku is giving a LookWhatMomFound…and Dad too! reader a Roku 2 XS (value $99.99). Let me know what channel you’d be most excited to watch.

Blackberry Playbook Tablet Recap

As a blogger I need to have the latest and grestest phone, gadgets and electronics and recently I received the Blackberry Playbook  64gb tablet to add to my arsenal of goodies.  So far I am pretty impressed with the overall performance of the Playbook and I find new features daily.

Here is a quick overview of some of the features that I really like:

  • Ultra light and protable – weighs in at .09lbs and super thin with a 7″ LCD (1024 x 600)
  • Storage options – comes in 16gb, 32gb abd 64gb
  • Awesome camera – the front camra is 3mp and the rear camera is 5mp and has 1080p (HD) recording.
  • Connectivity – Wifi, Bluetooth, HDMI and USB Micro

Since I have recieved the tablet a few things that I have used a lot and work very well are email, the web browser and documents to go.  I have taken the Playbook with me when I have went places instead of my bulky laptop and it has worked awesome.  The one thing I need to get over it that it only has Wifi for when I am on the go so you need to have a Wifi hotspot available in order to connect to the web or email but most of the time that doesn’t present a problem.

The Blackberry Playbook has a pretty good selcection of apps through Blackberry App World.  I was able to find Facebook and Twitter and a few other apps that I was looking for.  I am having a hard time finding games for the kids but I must admit I didn’t really spend more than 15 minutes searching so this part is still a work in progress.

The one thing that I don’t like about the Blackberry Playbook is there is no flash on the camera.  I know most tablets do not offer this feature but I wish they did because this is something that I would love to have.

Overall, the Blackberry Playbook stacks up very nicely against other tablets as well as my laptop so if you are in the market for a new tablet take a look at the Blackberry Playbook.

Want to win a Blackberry Playbook 64GB tablet?  If so you are in luck because one lucky Look What Mom Found…and Dad too! reader has a chance to win one.  All you have to do is head over to Blackberry and tell me what you like most about the Blackberry Playbook Tablet.

Just Dance 3 in time for Holiday Parties

She can sometime be quite shy and reserved at times but when asked to dance and act a fool she has no problem letting it all hang out. Sabreena asked for Just Dance 3 for the Wii and while I was a little surprised at first I quickly remembered that her and Shae and Shaun will break out in crazy dances at the drop of a hat for no apparent reason. I knew Just Dance 3 would be a good fit all of them since they enjoy interactive and fun video games they can play together.

The Just Dance franchise has been extremely popular for gamers of all ages and demographics and is the world’s #1 dance game. The introduction of Just Dance 3 incorporates a unique collection of danceable and singable songs from today and yesterday to welcome a larger audience. The soundtrack is sure to get any party started for holiday, event or season. With songs like Party Rock Anthem (Rob’s fave) and Dynamite (Shae’s fave) this is sure to be a hit with the whole family. I’m planning a casual family dinner in the next couple weeks, I think this might be a perfect game to break out, that way my siblings and I can battle.

Just Dance 3 is a dance along video game much like Guitar Hero is to playing the guitar; you do what the screen tells you to. With features like Dance ‘Till You Drop there is no need to stop and change modes, select songs or switch players. Dance till you literally run out of energy or someone else wants a turn. The Dance Crew mode features songs with 4-part choreographies so each member of the band player has the chance to be in the spotlight. These and other cool and interactive features make Just Dance 3 a top pick for the holidays for just about anyone on your list.

HP Envy 110 e-All-In-One To Save The Day

Over the years Melinda and I have accumulated thousands of family photos and we are more do it yourself photo printers rather than having someone print them for us so we need a good quality photo printer. We need a printer that not only does photos but can be used for everyday use as well. Recently we were offered the HP ENVY 110 e-All-In-One for review and so far I am very happy with this printer.

The HP ENVY 110 e-All-In-One is a wireless printer which is also a touch screen that prints up to 7ppm black and 4ppm color. It is also a scanner and e-fax (requires an account) so this is the perfect printer for most people who have multiple needs.

The biggest thing that I like about this printer is you only need two ink cartridges which cost under $50 for the set unlike a lot of printer where ink can cost you close to $100. We have had other photo printers and so far this is the best one we have owed so far. The photo quality is awesome and the regular print quality is great as well. I have used it a few times as a scanner and it has worked well. I did have a hard time getting my computer to recognize the printer but that could be my fault and most likely you will have a better result.

All in all this is a terrific printer that was easy to set up and super easy to use. For additional specs on this printer click HERE because to be honest there are just too many to list.

We Learned, Created and Shared our LeapPad and Tag

Each year there is a new hot electronic toy for kids and we usually end up indulging before any real research. This year that must have toy for kids is the Leapfrog LeapPad learning tablet. Tablets are all the craze right now, we have an iPad and the kids love it but I don’t love them using it. The LeapPad is JUST FOR KIDS with a built in camera, video recorder, activities and games.

leappad-explorer-tablet-leapfrog

set up and play within minutes

Our family hosted a “Learn, Create and Share” party for Shae and some friends to try out the LeapPad and Tag Reading System. With a bowl of frog gummies, froggy faced cupcakes and lilypad placemats we started our party with tasty snacks of course. The real fun began when the kids got to work on activity sheets and testing out the Tag and LeapPad for themselves.

tag-reading-leapfrog-learning

fun with the tag

The set up was easy, hook up to the computer to download apps then hand it over to let the kids explore and have fun. Shae’s first game was Jewel Train; a puzzle game that gets minds thinking. Her new favorite thing is taking pictures so as soon as she found out there was a camera she went snapping away. The quality was good as long as there was enough light. The included software allows kids to manipulate pics with funny faces and drawings.

As a parent I looked for some other features. The size was perfect for small hands with buttons large enough not to miss and materials that weren’t slippery (like the iPad). The response time from when the children tapped the screen and when the movement or action happened was instant. This is important especially when you have impatient kids that will keep clicking or tapping resulting in the wrong answer or outcome. As a whole I’m pleased with the LeapPad and expect it to last many years.

LeapFrog products are a staple in our house. In fact about 10 years ago we purchased another item called a LeapPad; a completely different product than this one but it is still regularly used. Shae’s My First LeapPad is still going strong and has been handed down to my niece. The Leapster was Shaun’s best companion and found a new home with a younger neighbor. Learning can be fun and LeapFrog makes this very clear in every gadget they put out. The library of additional games and apps available for purchase is much larger than other kid devices I’ve seen out there and BONUS for the LeapPad and Tag; there are NO cartridges to lose.

Learn to read, create, write and play with LeapFrog.

I received free LeapFrog products in order to host a Learn, Create and Share Party. LeapFrog did not influence my opinions expressed here as a result.”

Capturing Memories with DXG #giveaway

As a parent having cameras at your fingertips is a must. There are so many comical, crazy, emotional and downright strange things that go on in our house. Sometimes I require just a camera but for those over the top moments video coverage is all that will do.

DXG is a growing digital camera company that offers inexpensive, high-definition cameras and camcorders. The Luxe Collection features list rivals that of top brands.

  • HD video: 1080p, 720p at 30 fps
  • Connect to your PC via USB 2.0 interface
  • Upload videos to the Internet
  • SDHC compatible

We recently received the LUXE 1080P ULTRA SLIM CAMCORDER in red riviera. As you can see the camera comes completely ready to use without the need to make extra trips to the store for cables or a carrying case. This particular camera records in real 1080p high-def video, captures stills in 12megapixel, has a 3” touchscreen display and had as HDMI port so it can be directly connected to your HDTV for instant reviewing.

I’ve received handheld cameras in the past and the one thing I don’t like about them is the need to plug them into the computer to charge. It’s handy if I’m on or near a computer but that’s not always the case. The LUXE 1080P ULTRA SLIM CAMCORDER comes with a rechargable Li-ion battery & DC power charger.

I think this camera might go directly to Sabreena so she can keep up with her weekly vlog and have instant upload capability.  It’s really lightweight, almost to the point that it feels fake.  The red color is really pretty but the gold accents aren’t my style.  The rainbow of colors that the DXG cameras come in are really fun and make awesome gifts for teens and women who like trendy items.

DXG has many other camera options from the sports series (underwater use) to the 3D for the ultimate in technology.
LookWhatMomFound…and Dad too! readers are getting the chance to win 1 of 4 LUXE 1080P ULTRA SLIM CAMCORDERS (value $250).  Let me know what other DXG camera would come in handy in your life.

Big Sound from a Little Package

Music is a staple in Sabreena’s life; her iPod can always be found on her body. Zazzle just made listening to her music more fun. The Doodle is the first ever customizable speaker. Think walkman but cooler; think boombox but smaller. Zazzle lets music lovers play their tune everywhere they go without the constraints of size, cords and bulk OR teeny tiny earbuds.

When the box for Sabreena’s Doodle arrived I was a bit shocked; no I was way shocked. I never looked at the dimensions but for some reason assumed it would be more like alarm clock size. It’s not, it is more like iPod size. The Doodle is tiny, like laughable tiny but it’s adorable and the cupcake design I chose for Sabreena is bright and colorful and unique. Sabreena literally awwwww it to death and immediately found 2 batteries and hooked it up. She loves it, says its perfect for her room and her needs and says now she can share her music with her friends instead of doing that dorky unhygienic sharing earbuds thing I see so many kids doing. It comes with a USB power cord to get juice from the computer or the option to install batteries.

The Doodle is totally customizable too.Whether you are celebrating Father’s Day or have a special event coming up, simply uploading your own photo takes it to a complete different level. Check out the plethora of images already available to pick out the perfect picture or phrase to make it your own.
