Summer Skin Care with UNT

Each spring I make my my annual pilgramage to the salon and get my first mani-pedi of the season. This is where I usually indulge in the newest colors that I don’t typically purchase myself. Last week was my appointment and I and brought along UNT Nail Lacquer. I was sent 2 shades of pink from the Pink Fiction Reverie collection; a bubblegum shade called Hot Pants and a bright shimmery fuchsia called Running in Stilletos.

I got my toes done in Hot Pants and it’s a fun contrast to my natural tan and black sandals. The color itself needed about 3 coats for a smooth dark finish. No chips so far either. UNT Nail Lacquers are made with no formaldehyde, toluene and phthalate esters. This makes me comfortable painting Shae’s nails when she wants to be a girly girl.

I also received the Tip Off Acetone Free nail lacquer remover. I used it on my fingertips a couple weeks ago and felt it wasn’t aggressive enough to remove the color. I used a huge amount of remover for one hand and then went to my store brand to finish the job. It’s not that it didn’t work; it just didn’t work as quickly and easily as I was used to.

Save the Honey Bees

Did you know that honey bees are responsible for the pollination of one-third of the foods we eat. Did you also knowthat honey bees are in danger due to “Colony Collapse Disorder”. In the past several years it has been noticed that an alarming amount of honey bees are abruptly abandoning their hives and dying off. The real reason is unknown but some theories are pesticides, environmental changes, genetically modified crops, invading insects and radiation. Whatever the culprit is, the honey bees need to be saved as they are critical to the ecological diversity and health of our planet.
Honey does more than add a pleasant taste to baked goods and drinks. Honey is naturally antiseptic and is used to cleanse in certified organic skin care products, sooth as throat lozenges and heal everyday cuts and scrapes. During the winter when my family gets that scratchy irritating cough I send them to bed with a spoonful of honey to soothe the pain and help get them a peaceful night’s sleep. I Got It From My Momma

The one good thing I got from my mother is good skin.My grandmother looks incredible for her age and people are often surprised when they find out my real age; that is until they see my gray hair.  I remember while growing up watching my mother primp and get all dressed up. She’d try on clothes and heels, moisturize her legs and use fancy skincare products then apply make-up at an old-school light up mirror. I try to do the same routine, except for the heels and lighted make-up mirror. It’s been working pretty well for me up until now.

Health Is Important To Infinity Dish

In today’s work world when people are deciding what company they want to work for they look at a few things like money, health insurance, flexibility as well as health initiatives. Maybe not everyone looks for these things but I do because these are important to me.

Two Weeks Into A Fresher Mouth

I am now into my second week of the Health Invigorating Clean Multi-Protection Rinse Test Drive Program where I need to use Crest Pro-Health Invigorating Clean Multi-Protection Rinse twice daily for one month.

So far I love the product and am very glad I was asked to participate in this program. Like I mentioned in my first post which you can read HERE I am not really a mouth wash/rinse kind of guy. I’m Working Towards A Fresher Mouth!

I don’t know about you but brushing your teeth to me is a pain and tedious but one of the most important things you can do to keep up your hygiene.

People tend to notice your smile and your teeth so it is extremely important to have good oral health practices. I remember when I was younger I used to just brush and thought that was good enough but the dentist put me in my place very quickly. The dentist mentioned in addition to brushing the importance of flossing and using mouth wash. I floss daily but I am not a person who uses mouth wash on a regular basis. FOLLOW UP – Shaun’s Doctors Appointment

On Wednesday Shaun had an appointment with our family doctor so we could begin talks on getting Shaun evaluated for ADD/ADHD.  Our doctor is so cool and when he first came into the room he spoke with Shaun first asking him if he knew why he was at the doctors.  Shaun told him why he thought he was there and he was right then we moved on with talking with the doctor. 

The doctor went over things that could be possible signs and gave Melinda and I some paperwork that needs to be filled out by us and by Shaun’s teachers.  After all of the paperwork is filled out we will then move forward in determining what needs to be done.  The doctor would not talk about any treatment plans or medication.  He told us lets do the paperwork first and move from there which I thought was cool because I do not want to rush into anything.

Melinda is trying to get an appointment with Shaun’s teachers today as she had one Wednesday but it was cancelled due to the snow storm.   So we are on our way to getting to the bottom of this but it is going to take a few weeks but I am ok with that.  I don’t want to rush Shaun’s diagnosis.  We will continue to keep everyone posted!




Our Poor Boy Shaun

Recently Shaun’s quarterly school evaluation came home and it wasn’t good.  It said Shaun talks excessively in all of his classes, distracts others and is below 2nd grade level.  Needless to say Melinda and I aren’t happy and are very upset about this. 

At his last report card Shaun was at “Meets 2nd Grade Expectations” so we are a little suprised at his declining progress in school.  Melinda called to set up a meeting with all of his teachers for this Thursday and a doctors appointment for today.

Melinda and I want to get Shaun evaluated to see if he may have ADD.  I know people think ADD is an excuse but we have been putting this off for a year or so and we can’t ignore it any longer.  Shaun talks excessively, is easily distracted, always moving and has zero attention span.  I am not a fan of medicating young children but if it helps Shaun in school and life I am all for it.  I want Shaun to be successful and I feel right now he is to hyper and distracted for that to happen. 

We will make sure to update everyone as these appointments take place and let you know how things are progressing.
