iFrogz CS40’s Headphones Comfy for Kids, Perfect for Dad Gift

As a family we like technology. On car rides the kids or during downtime the kids can be found playing games or listening to music. Even in the car the DVD is a best friend. I hate listening to 3 or 4 different toys/games/devices going at the same time. The IFrogz CS40’s headphones that were sent for Shaun and Shae are awesome.

Since they are younger/littler earbuds don’t usually work for them. The CS40’s are full sized headphones with a cushy, comfortable, ear-cupping fit; the CS stands for comfort series, they got that right. The headband is adjustable too so they can be easily worn by anyone in the family. The ear pieces fold into themselves for easy storage too; helpful when the geek drawer is filled to capacity.

I like that the kids can play and listen and I don’t have to listen to it. The standard jack fits into all of their gadgets plus the DVD player in the van; perfect for when the wireless headphone’s batteries decide to die in the middle of a long car ride. I’ve even plugged them into my laptop to watch old episode of Family Guy on Hulu.

Here is the tech breakdown of the CS40’s from IFrogz (I don’t know what any of this mean, but it might be important to someone)

  • Driver Unit: 40 mm
  • Impedance: 32 ohms
  • Sensitivity: 120 dB +/- 3 dB
  • Frequency Response: 30 Hz to 20 kHz
  • Cord Length: 1.2 m
  • Plug: 3.5 mm

All in all I’m impressed with the durability of the CS40’s. Between Shae who leaves her stuff on the floor to be stepped on and Shaun who is a rough 7 year old these have held up perfectly. The sound quality is great and best of all they are comfortable on my kid’s heads and ears.

IFrogz does more than earphones. iFrogz brings you the absolute most original and customizable iPod™, MP3 player, smart phone and digital media accessories around.

Win your own pair of iFrogz CS40’s (value $39.99) for you or a kiddo in your life. Visit iFrogz and let me know what else catches your eye.

Border’s Double Dog Dares You to Read This Summer plus (2) $100 GC Giveaway-CLOSED

Your kids that is! Border’s is challenging kids age 12 to keep up with their summer reading. Simply read 10 books and get 1 free!
Yup, it’s that easy! Kids, read 10 books, log them on the Double-Dog Dare form and bring it into any Borders store and get your choice of 1 of selected titles for free.

Summer unfortunately has the reputation of the mind-drain. All the learning kids do during the regular school year slowly leaks out while swimming, playing ball, climbing trees and vegging out on the sofa. This year can be different! Borders wants to keep your kid’s minds active and fresh for the upcoming school year by enticing them with a free book just for reading 10 books of their choice until August 26th. Read the books they want then choose a book they want from one of the 10 selected titles for FREE.

How do you keep your kids interested in reading especially over the summer?
Jon Scieszka, author of Robot Zot and Knucklehead: Tall Tales and Almost True Stories of Growing up Scieszka says “If you want to inspire your boy reader, expand your definition of reading to include non-fiction, graphic novels, funny books, wordless books, audio books and magazines. Summer reading is a great time to explore texts that aren’t covered/allowed in school reading”.

What books from your childhood would you like to introduce to your kids/friend’s kids/family this summer to start them on a path to lifelong readers? This is your chance to win 1 of 2 $100 Border’s Gift Cards at LookWhatMomFound…and Dad too!

VTech MobiGo with Touchscreen Technology Recap

My kids are hooked on their electronics. I really try to keep the bulk of their plugged in time educational but still fun. The new VTech MobiGo combines those 2 things with the latest touch screen technology. Shae can now sit next to her big brother and sister and play like they do.

The MobiGo comes with a cartridge filled with basic (non-character) learning games. Shae’s favorite so far is Ice Escape. If you are familiar with Parking Lot, it’s very similar to that. The object of the game is to move the ice blocks and snowballs to get the penguin to his meal. I was surprised at how well she picked up this puzzle/strategy game. Here is a rundown of the great features:

  • Touch-screen: MobiGo’s touch-screen technology adds a modern twist to electronic learning games, so kids learn while mimicking the way parents use touch-screen devices.
  • Educational games: From fishing, coloring book pages, drawing and playing instruments, kids can discover a wide variety of fun and engaging learning games.
  • Learning skills: MobiGo teaches a wide range of skills including math, vocabulary, spelling, logic and categorization. The slide open QWERTY keyboard introduces older kids to text typing skills.
  • Downloadable Content: Additional games and content will be available for download so kids can customize
  • their MobiGo with the latest innovative games and continue the learning and fun for years to come.
  • Portable: Handheld robust gaming console makes learning fun on the go for little hands and is equipped with headphone and AC adapter jacks.

Our initial experience wasn’t so hot, we had a problem with the audio but VTech jumped in and remedied the situation immediately. Shae was even happier with her replacement and the special extra game that was sent; Toy Story 3. I can’t wait to pick up the Dora game for her. I’m really hoping for a carrying case also, she’s good for leaving her stuff all over the place.

The VTech MobiGo has become Shae’s #1 electronic game system; in fact we gifted her previous sytem within 2 days knowing she was never going to touch it again. The MobiGo is scheduled to be released June 7th at Toys R Us, MSRP $59.99 with games starting $19.99

Why Didn’t I Think Of Making These Things?

A few weeks ago Shaun asked me could we go to the store to buy Silly Bandz. My first comment was what the heck are Silly Bandz because this was the first time I was ever hearing about these things? Shaun told me they were rubber bands that you wore and when you weren’t wearing them they turned into things like animals, cars, shapes and a whole bunch of other stuff.

It was a Sunday afternoon and I told Shaun we could go buy some. I told him he needed to pay for them so he went to his room got some money from his piggy bank. Shaun told me his friends got theirs at the Dollar Store and 7-11 so off we went. 7-11 sounded weird to me so we headed to the Dollar Store but the lady told me they don’t sell them but try AC Moore which we did and found sports Silly Bandz because every other kind was sold out. The lady at AC Moore told me they are so popular they sell out within hours of getting them in. I am assuming since they had sports ones left no body liked those but Shaun wanted some so bad those are the ones he got. At first I was going to make Shaun pay for them thinking they would only be a few bucks and he could pick up the tab. Heck no those things were $5 for 24 bandz how crazy is that? A few days later while getting coffee at 7-11 what do I see at the checkout, Silly Bandz. Well, not Silly Bandz but a knockoff that looks just like the real thing so I picked up another pack for him.

Shaun loves his rubber bracelets things and the other day asked could he take his outside because kids in the neighborhood were trading. These things are extremely popular and I am not sure why but they are so popular they are being band from school because they distracting the kids. I was reading an article this morning that schools in New York, Texas, Florida and Massachusetts have told students not to wear them to school. It is crazy how the simplest little piece of rubber can gain so much popularity but this is just like anything else, a fad which in a few months to a year will end and I will be throwing them away in the trash wondering what happened to the Silly Bandz.

Are your kids into Silly Bandz?

Keep Kids Healthy with Twinlab Marine Friends Omega-3 Giveaway-CLOSED

A healthy kid is what we all hope for but keeping them healthy is our job. With store shelves and internet sites loaded with hyped up supplements and vitamins and minerals how do you know where to turn?

Twinlab has recently introduced Marine Friends™ Children’s Omega-3 Powder. This supplement is shown to play a crucial role in brain function as well as normal growth and development. Omega-3 fatty acids are highly concentrated in the brain and appear to be important for cognitive (brain memory and performance) and behavioral function. In fact, infants who do not get enough omega-3 fatty acids from their mothers during pregnancy are at risk for developing vision and nerve problems. Symptoms of omega-3 fatty acid deficiency include fatigue, poor memory, dry skin, heart problems, mood swings or depression, and poor circulation. The foods that are richest in these healthy fatty acids are sometimes the ones kids like the least; salmon, algae, nut oils, flaxseed and tuna just to name a few. The human body is unable to produce our own Omega-3 fatty acids so we must supplement.

This is where Twinlab Marine Friends™ Children’s Omega-3 Powder comes in. Each serving contains 127mg of naturally sourced EPA and DHA, molecularly distilled for purity. The light tasting powder blends almost invisibly into every day foods and drinks, and the single serving stick pack, makes it easy for kids and parents to get their Omega-3s at home or on the go. NO artificial flavors, colors, preservatives or sweeteners added.

I’ve been mixing 1 powder stick with Shaun’s breakfast orange juice with no complaints. Mixed with milk wasn’t so good though, he didn’t like the flavor so we’ll stick with the OJ. I can see this being mixed in with applesauce, puddings, sprinkled on foods or soups with zero problems. Twinlab® Marine Friends™ Children’s Omega-3 Powder comes in 30-stick pack box for $27.99.

WIN a month’s supply of Twinlab® Marine Friends™ Children’s Omega-3 Powder for your own little one (recommended for children at 1 year of age) here at LookWhatMomFound…and Dad too! Visit Twinlab, what other products are you familiar with?

Hallmark Kids Collection Cards to Encourage and Cheer Kids

Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Groundhogs Day; there’s a day for everyone and everything except for the most important thing in our lives, our children. Children need a special, “It’s all about me” day sometimes too. Hallmark is helping parents do that with their new Kids Collection; a line of cards and gifts designed specifically to cheer kids on, cheer them up and make them smile! Created to help adults’ encouraging words stick, they are little reminders to a child that you’re rooting for them every step of the way.

With 3 kids I’ve realized I don’t praise and encourage enough. There is always so much going on I tend to focus on things that need to be done rather on the things that HAVE been done. Report cards came out this week; straight A’s for Sabreena and very goods for Shaun. They haven’t been rewarded or patted on the back. Along with a card for each of them I think they deserve some special time with mom and dad. Realizing that encouragement for teens like Sabreena might need to differ from encouragement to younger ones like Shae or Shaun, Hallmark developed cards for all different stages of childhood and all different kinds of kids.

Need some help talking to your kids? Hallmark spokeskid and author Alec Greven is offering tips on encouragement and being your kids cheering section. His goal is to help grown-ups make their encouraging words resonate.

Win your own pack of Hallmark Kids Collection Cards here at LookWhatMomFound…and Dad too! Browse the Kids Collection and tell me something from their Tips and Inspiration section that you found helpful or motivating. This contest will have 3 winners, each receiving a mixed selection of the cards described above.
