Hayneedle.com Recap and Giveaway-CLOSED

As everyone has to know by now we are finally moved and settled into our new place in Delaware. When Melinda and I were looking at places in Delaware the place we are living now really stood out because of a few things but one of the main features was the huge deck. Melinda and I discussed what we could get to make our deck a place where we would hang out often with the kids, family and friends. We had a bistro set but needed two additional chairs and another table to make the deck complete and Hayneedle had the perfect set of Adirondack chairs.

The good thing is Melinda and I decided in advance that we wanted a nice set of Adirondack chairs. So we went to Hayneedle and clicked on the Adirondack chairs link under patio and garden and we were taken to adirondackchairs.com. That is where were given a huge selection to choose from like painted wood, recycled plastic , cedar, teak and many more. After some searching we both agreed on the Big Daddy Reclining Adirondack Chair set with free side table. If you notice these chairs and I have something in common. I will give you a moment to figure it out. Has it come to you yet? If not I will give you the answer, me and the chairs are both called Big Daddy. This kind of made the decision easy for me. Who doesn’t like chairs that share the same name as them?

The chairs are a really nice kiln dried Asian fir with a weather resistant natural finish with an attached retractable ottoman. They came unassembled but it took only about hour total to put both of them together. The step by step directions were easy to follow and very detailed. The side table came already assembled so that setup in seconds. We are really enjoying our chairs so far and they are super comfortable to sit in especially with the ottoman out.

The journey began in 2002 as Netshops when Founders Doug Nielson, Mark Hasebroock and Julie Mahloch acquired Hammocks.com and saw potential to launch more sites each focusing on a certain product category. In August 2009 the name was changed to Hayneedle and a new easy to navigate website was unveiled. Hayneedle consists of 220 stores and counting each devoted to a single product category like dartboards.com and hammocks.com just to name a few.

Hayneedle.com is your one stop shop with so many stores and items to choose from you are bound to find what you are looking for.
Hayneedle is giving on lucky Look What Mom Found…and Dad too! reader one item of their choice worth up to $200. All you have to do is go to Hayneedle and tell me what three stores you like the most.

WHIPLASH™ Scooter for Summer Fun Recap

We’ve worked with Street Surfing in the past so we knew to expect top-notch, quality gear. This summer we got the chance to analyse the crazy popular Whiplash scooter. The Whiplash™ is a self-propelling, revolutionary new ride. It is part scooter, part Wave board (caster board) and totally fun. The Whiplash Scooter’s flexing deck and handlebar fuse together to provide riders with a cool, side to side, whip-like ride. Riders can self-propel the scooter so that their feet never touch the ground or ride it like a a traditional scooter.

I was so proud of Shaun. Rob and I were very concerned about letting Shaun ride the Whiplash. He easily gets discouraged if he doesn’t succeed as something right away. We truly expected his to lose his balance and give up saying riding it was too hard. You can see how WRONG we were. He rides it all the time and all the kids in the neighborhood (old and new) are constantly asking for a chance to try it out.

The Whiplash Scooter is a must buy for kids this summer. Shop at local retailers or online for your own Whiplash (retail value $80), replacement wheels and most importantly helmets. Remember no matter the age of the rider, stay safe.

Win your own Whiplash scooter from LookWhatMomFound…and Dad too! Visit Street Surfing or Whiplash Scooter and tell me who you want to win this for.

Border’s Tip of the Week-Reading Under the Stars

Make it magical under the stars. Like dinner, dancing and sleeping, reading can become the ultimate adventure if done under the stars or by the light of the moon.

Read Out Under the Stars! brought to you from Harper Collins
Consider camping out for a night in your backyard! Take the opportunity to unplug from TV, computers and other distractions and connect as a family by sharing some of your own childhood favorite books with your own kids by camp light in your own backyard.

This weekend Shae and I spent reading 10 Flashing Fireflies while real fireflies danced around us. We settled in at dusk with a pile of books and read until all the books were read. This was new for us, we’d never had this kind of little adventure but it’s turning into a regular event now. Last night we read The Boy Who Wouldn’t Go To Bed and she ended up as sleepy as the character.

Border’s is encouraging reader of all ages to switch up how they read, what they read and especially how much. Remember until August 26th, Border’s is rewarding your kids with a free book when they read 10 of their own. Border’s Double Dog Dare Program is a great way to entice summer reading to avoid brain melt while school is out and best of all it’s FREE. Visit your local Border’s store or online for complete details and rules and for an order form.

Shae’s 1st Bikini from Lil’ Bettie Beachwear plus GIVEAWAY

Summer is here! Today is the official first day of summer. We celebrated this weekend with some fun in the hose in the yard. Shae got to sport her new Lil’ Bettie Beachwear bikini. Her Water Lily Bikini has a bright wavy striped bottom and triangle top adorned with flowers and detailed stitching. This is her first bikini ever and it’s adorable. I love the bright colors; pink, green, orange, blue and fuchsia.

Lil’ Bettie Beachwear carries bikinis, tankinis, 1-pieces, rash guards and cover-ups for girls, age’s baby to tween. All the swim suits are made with Brazilian Lycra to ensure a proper fit and extended life. Brazilian Lycra is different in that it is more tightly woven to last the entire swimming season without stretch or fade.

I was told to up-size when choosing Shae’s swimsuit. Since these swimsuits are made in Brazil they tend to run small. I’m gonna say this is true 100%. Shae has been wearing a 3 but just recently moved up to a 4 but I stuck with a size 4 for the swimsuit. I wish I had thought about it and size-up like I was told. While the swimsuit fits, Shae sports a little butt-crack when she bends down. I’m guessing sizing up won’t really help this but might just cause the bottoms to fall down exposing more than just heiny.

Lil’ Bettie Beachwear is a division of Seaside Brands, Inc. and works hard to give back to the community, specifically the Yellow Bug School. Seaside Brand’s, Inc and Yellow Bug sponsor a school for employee children at no cost, as well as for the poorest children in town so they can get a solid start in life. In the spirit in which Lil’ Bettie was created, a percentage of sales from the line will be donated to the Yellow Bug School which will go toward building an elementary school for the students that otherwise would not get an education.

WIN a Lil’ Bettie Beachwear girls swimsuit for a little girl in your life. Visit Lil’ Bettie and tell me which style you like best. (the winner will submit their size preference and Lil’ Bettie representatives will provide a swimsuit of their choice based on availability)

May is National Barbecue Month With Weber

Spring is upon us so you know what that means: Grilling outdoors. I love this time of year so that we can get outside and have barbeques with our friends and family. I love inviting people over to the house for a relaxing time with great food on the grill.

Not sure if everyone knows but May is National Barbecue Month. Considering I use my grill all of the time even in the winter I love that they have a month dedicated to the good ol’ BBQ.

“Grilling is an American pastime and National Barbecue Month is the perfect time for Americans to map out their summer grilling game plan by determining what equipment is needed, the best recipes to try, and what special grilling occasions with family and friends to mark on the calendar,” says Leslie Wheeler, communications director at the Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Association. “With all the great equipment available to consumers right now, it’s no surprise that grilling has become such a popular way to prepare quick and delicious meals.”

Weber has a new cookbook call Weber’s Way to Grill by Jamie Purviance which I was lucky enough to receive for review.  I have been grilling for a long time but this cookbook has alot of really cool ideas a techniques that I am using and trying to make myself a better griller.  Here is a little background information about the author:

Jamie Purviance graduated from Stanford University and the Culinary Institute of America before launching his career as a food writer for major magazines and newspapers such as Bon Appétit, Better Homes & Gardens, Cooking Light, Fine Cooking, Town & Country, and the Los Angeles Times. He is the author of several best-selling cookbooks, including Weber’s Real Grilling™ and Weber’s Charcoal Grilling™. Purviance is certified by the Kansas City Barbecue Society and serves as a judge for the Memphis in May World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest, in addition to other major competitions. He has also appeared on several national television shows including Today, The Early Show, Good Morning America, Fox & Friends, and the Oprah Winfrey Show—as well as PBS, CNN, the History Channel, and the Food Network.

Weber’s Way to Grill is a booking filled with learning techniques. The cookbook have over 160 original recipes with over 1,000 step by step photos so this book is great for a new comer to grilling or a person who had been grilling forever but looking to take their grilling technique to the next level.  This book has everything like when is the proper time to season a steak, why you cook lamb at a higher temperature then you would pork chops.  Weber’s Way to Grill has alot to offer anyone who loves grilling.  Below are some additional details about the book:

Everything a griller wants to know in the most complete grilling technique book ever:

Five keys to grilling great steak
The right way with baby back ribs
What to do when flare-ups happen
The way to smoke a turkey
Five secrets for perfect fish every time
Simple ways to check for doneness
Getting great results with your smoker
The way to handle foods that stick
Working burger magic every time
Over 1,000 step-by-step photos
More than 160 delicious new recipes
Dozens of rubs, sauces, marinades, and more

Weber was also kind enough to send me the Genesis E-320 Gas Grill. This is by far the BEST grill I have ever owned.  The Genesis E-320 has 3 Stainless steel burners and Porcelain-enameled cast-iron cooking grates.  The Genesis also 42,000 BTU-per-hour input and a 12,000 BTU-per-hour input flush-mounted side burner.  In my opinion this grill has it all with its looks and pure cooking power.  To me Weber is associated with quality and after using the Genesis for the last month I will never own any other grill but a Weber.

Gift Hero -Copter Darts Evalutation

When your child gets invited to a birthday party do you dread going to the store and trying to find that perfect age appropriate gift? I know I do but not anymore with this awesome website called Gift Hero.

Gift Hero takes the stress out of gift buying with their simple to use website. All you have to do is go to Gift Hero and on the main page under Gift Finder select gender, age and price. After you hit go a list of gifts will be displayed based on the selections you made. Gift Hero will deliver your gift in a fun and easy gift bag to “wrap” your gift and take to the party. I really like the Gift Finder feature because it insures you are getting an age appropriate gift that the birthday child should love. All of the gifts on Gift Hero have been tested by Stefanie (Owner), Lisa (Owner), their kids and their kid’s friends so you know you are going to get a great gift.
Gift Hero was started by Stefanie and Lisa the mothers of 3 young children. They were tired of the not so good toy selection at big retailers and at their local stores. Stefanie and Lisa figured there was an easier way to find that perfect gift that they would be happy to give to the birthday child. Gift Hero does not offer anything Stefanie and Lisa wouldn’t be thrilled for their own children to receive.

My family had the pleasure of receiving the OgoSport Copter Dart Set from Gift Hero. The Copter Dart Set arrived at the house “wrapped” in the awesome gift bag they provide which would have made it super easy to give as a gift but since this was for my son we opened it and played it immediately. My son and daughter really enjoy playing with the Copter Dart Set so much that it even went on vacation with us last week. With its foldable target and light weight darts this is a must have for any outdoor trip especially family barbeques.

The OgoSport Copter Dart Set comes with 4 foam darts, foldable target and pouch. The darts have flexible foam wings and a weighted plastic tip so they land upright every time. This game can be played either indoors or outdoors.

Next time your child is invited to a birthday party don’t waste your precious time driving to the store to find a gift head over to Gift Hero where you will be sure to find that PERFECT gift.

Stefanie and Lisa of Gift Hero have been nice enough to offer 1 lucky reader a chance to win their very own Copter Dart Set!!!!

Visit Gift Hero and tell me what gift you would like your child to receive for their next birthday.

Sport Brella Analysis

Sklz who is the leader in sports skills development trainers has bulit a brand that consumers trust to deliver the most innovative and effective sports training products available. Sklz has not let consumers down with the creation of Sport-Brella.

If you go to the beach, have picnics or attend kids sporting events you can’t be without the Sport-Brella from Sklz. Sport-Brella is perfect at the beach for one person or on the sideline of your kids soccer or football game to provide sun protect for the whole team. The Sport-Brella opens to 7’ wide and with side flaps it offers full cover sun, wind and rain protection. It sets up in a few minutes and is the easiest setup sun shelter available thanks to the folding umbrella action. Sport-Brella provides UPF 50+ sun protection and protects you from 99.5% of UVA and UVB rays.

Here is the full list of details for the Sport-Brella in case I missed something:

    • Quick shade protection from sun, wind and rain

    • Easiest setup sun shelter available thanks to folding umbrella action

    • Rugged umbrella structure with side flaps for full cover protection

    • Top wind vents and side zippered windows for efficient airflow

    • Maximum sun protection UPF 50+ and water repellent

    • Protects over 99.5% of UVA and UVB rays

Sklz was nice enough to send us a Sport-Brella for analysis and I am glad they did. We used to use a regular beach umbrella when we went to the beach and after using the Sport-Brella we realized what a superior product it is. Sport-Brella offers UPF 50+ sun protection that our old beach umbrella was not providing for me or my family. It set up in minutes which is imperative when you have 3 kids who as soon as you hit the sand want to go into the water and play. Sport-Brella provided great shade for my 2 year old to nap. All I had to do was put the umbrella at an angel and stake down the side flaps and my baby had all of the shade and sun protection she needed. Sport-Brella is such a versatile product with so many features and is so simple to use that no one should be without one.

SKLZ has been generous enough to offer one Sport-Brella (retail value of $69.99) to one of our lucky readers.

VISIT SKLZ and come back and tell me another product you would really love to try out.

Winner Chosen: Street Surfing Recapitulation

Tamara B., June 29, 2009 5:31 PM

I am a follower.

The Street Surfing, LLC. Ripple is like no other skateboard on the street. It’s design requires more of a surfing motion, twisting and turning on a dime with caster wheels that turn 360 degrees and a deck that pivots with the movements of your body. The Ripple offers the same great ride, same great quality and same killer performance as the Wave but with a more compact profile that makes it perfect for younger riders. No matter what board you get the tricks and ride will always be cool.

We haven’t had the chance to fully master the Ripple. We’ve had what seems like 40 days and 40 nights of rain and slick surfaces don’t mix well with wheels. Sabreena was able to take it out the other day and practice getting on and starting out. She’s not very athletic but she got the hang of it in a short time. She obviously needs more practice on turning and steering but she actually enjoyed it and plans on heading out again today. She did mention that the boys in the neighborhood loved it and begged to take turns. The few regular skateboarders got the hang of it a bit quicker. Shaun will no doubt get the hang of it pretty good. At the age of 6 he’s pretty athletically inclined and quite the daredevil; just ask my heart as he’s going full speed down a hill on his bike. Rob, who used to skateboard at a kid, attempted to get on and quickly ditched that plan at the first feeling of hitting pavement.

Street Surfing, LLC is a sporting goods product and lifestyle company that manufactures and distributes The Wave®. Headquartered in Newport Beach, California, Street Surfing, LLC is committed to delivering durable, high-quality Street Surfing equipment, accessories and apparel. They offer a variety of Wave boards for different age ranges and skill levels. The Ripple is built for younger riders with its slim design. The Wave Stealth uses Abec 7 bearings and integrated grip tape for a faster ride with more tricks and the new Wave LX has a wider deck for more stability and new lightweight design. Don’t forget to grab a helmet and pads to ensure not only your kids safety but your own.

Street Surfing, LLC is giving my readers the chance to win a Wave LX ($80 value) or Ripple ($80 value) of their own. Visit Street Surfing, LLC and tell me which one you would like to win and who it would be for. Unfortunetely you won’t have a choice of design.
