Project 52 Week 4

Project 52-Weeks 1-2-3

Project 52 is an attempt to capture life in a couple shots once a week. I attempted to do a picture a day for 2010 and was quickly overwhelmed. This year I’m going to post a picture or two or three that gives you a quick glance into what was going, how I was feeling, what we did, etc….

I’m starting it today but in the future will post each Saturday to give you our “week in review”. Here is the last 3 weeks wrapped up all in one.

We capture all of our special moment in time on digital film. We even display some of those images on digital frames throughout the house. But what happens when you leave the house, how do you share pictures of your most recent vacation with friends and family. Photo albums seem to be a thing of the past with the introduction of digital cameras and the many storage websites available.

mixbook hardcover

Starting with blank pages the easy to use site allows the user to customize to their own liking. Simply click on backgrounds, embellishments and layouts to set you’re your pages just how you like it.

I’ve been working on our Carnival Cruise photo book for a couple weeks now. I know I could’ve sat down and finished it in just a couple days but I’m not good at working like that. Our lives are busy but I know that if I have a few moments to work on the book my progress will always be there. Each album is saved and waiting for me to continue to build on it. I’ve been impressed with the layout options, the variety of stickers, buttons and borders and the ranges of colors and textures available. With a simple click and drag you can change the look of your album easily just as you would a scrapbook.

In her new book Anne Geddes presents the simple and elegant elements of nature and new life. Beginnings is no different from her other photography books; pure bliss. Anne Geddes reveals a range of images that are, in her own words, among the most personally rewarding she has ever created.

As you all should know by now I’m in love with the magnificent work of Anne Geddes; this includes her books, calendars, stationery and journals; even her children’s clothing lines are adorable. My Pure book has been a keepsake for 7 years now, it’s a book that reminds me of the wonders of being pregnant and holding a tiny baby in my arms. Beginnings is exactly the same; each photo is perfect, sometimes more perfect than the one before.

The process took 12 months of photographing the simplest elements of nature and newborn life. A combined 140 images of new subjects as well as some returning faces comes together to form this new masterpiece.

Maneesha was photographed holding a preemie infant girl; 17 years prior she was a preemie being photographer herself.

Take a Picture and Win a Trip to the Superbowl from Canon

Canon U.S.A., Inc, a leader in digital imaging, and the Pro Football Hall of Fame are looking for the best youth football photos from across America. Football fans are encouraged to pick up a camera this season and show their passion for the sport through photography by entering the sixth annual “Why Do You Love Football?” photo challenge.

The nationwide amateur photo contest is divided into two divisions, Adults ages 18 and over and Teens 13-17, and consists of two categories. The category Action focuses on any image that captures football action during game play and Feature comprises any football imagery outside of game action. The winning photographer in both divisions will have the opportunity to attend Super Bowl XLV in North Texas and receive a trip to the  2011 Pro FootballHall of Fame Enshrinement Celebration. The winning photos will be displayed in the Pro Football Hall of Fame for one year.

Fans are invited to enter up to 10 of their best youth football photos from September 2, 2010, to December 1, 2010, by visiting www.usa.canon.com/nfl and following the online entry instructions.

A judging panel consisting of: Archie Manning, former NFL quarterback and father of two Super Bowl MVP quarterbacks; Peter Read Miller, Canon Explorer of Light and Sports Illustrated photographer; and other prominent staff photographers and photo editors will determine the group of 14 finalists in each division. Once the field is narrowed, fans will make the final call by voting for their favorite photo from December 20, 2010 until January 7, 2011, via the contest website listed above, with the Grand Prize winners being announced in early January.

“Year after year I look forward to see how fans portray their passion for the game of football through their photography,” said former NFL quarterback Archie Manning. “Each year the photos entered in the contest get better and better and I am looking forward to see what this year’s will produce.”

The ALBUM keeps your digital pictures in view

I can’t begin to tell you how many digital images we have. Even before we had a digital camera I used to have my film developed AND put on a disk so that I would always have a copy. How many do you think you have? How do you view and share these pictures? My answer is we don’t share as much as we should. I’ve always wanted a better way to share these memories with friends and family.

The ALBUM™ has made this possible. What’s the ALBUM™? To put it simply, it’s a portable digital photogallery that acts like a digital frame. That means not only can you store a ton of photos you can also view them on an end table, at lunch with friends or at a family reunion. The size of the ALBUM™ is key too, small enough to fit in a handbag but with a screen large enough to completely enjoy the image being shown.
Time to get technical:
Size 0.55″
7.7″ x 4.45″
Display Size 7″ (800 x 480 pixels)
Weight 0.9 lbs
Capacity 4 GB (up to 40,000 images) Internal Memory Can be increased to 20GB by inserting an SD memory card
Compatibility USB Device, USB Master, SD Cards
Battery Life 3 hours
Accessories Genuine leather case, Universal Charger with Replaceable Plugs, USB Cable

We recently had the chance to chat with one of the creators Dominika Applova. Being a busy mom she knew she needed a better method of sharing pictures. The idea of the ALBUM™ came from necessity, it had to be simple and FAST and most of all useable. More than just portable storage, the screen allows for an interactive experience; sharing laughs, smiles and tears while scanning photos with family and friends. Dominika really pressed the issue of its simplicity. The ability to plug in almost any gadget and move files is a fantastic draw. The simple 3 button navigation is all that is needed; no complicated menus or permissions to approve. The ALBUM™ is meant to be USED for sharing not storage, it needed to be easy to use.

My favorite feature is you never need a computer to view your shots. Slide out that memory card from the in-laws camera, pop it into the ALBUM™ and take all those xmas pics moments after they were snapped. No more waiting for that email saying they’ve been uploaded to a photo sharing site. Did you give an ALBUM™ as a gift? Hook up your Albums together with a USB cable to share pics NOW not later.

The future is looking promising for The ALBUM™.  Future editions may have the ability of storing and viewing video! I immediately knew Dominika and her team had touched on a unique and original idea that everyone never knew they needed but will soon not be able to leave the house without. No more “Let me see pics of the kids” and coming up empty handed.

What is the point of taking pictures if they won’t be seen? Become a fan of the ALBUMteam Ltd. to keep updated on all the progress and changes on the horizon. Purchase the ALBUM™ for yourself or as that perfect gift for someone else (already loaded with pics of course) directly from Album-Life.
