A Month of Musicals on Netflix #StreamTeam

Musicals are my favorite kinds of movies! I love live action movies based off of broadway hits like RENT, Chicago, or Annie but I also love watching children’s musicals. We made May a month of musicals in our home as part of the Netflix #StreamTeam.Musicals on Netflix #StreamTeam

Disney movies or something like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, a movie that we all watched as a family just a few weeks ago. I even have Frozen Radio saved as a favorite station on iTunes Radio. It plays the songs from all of the Disney movies, even the really obscure ones. Did you know there are French loves songs on the Wall-E soundtrack? I love reminiscing about movies that I haven’t seen since I owned them on VHS.

Netflix has recently put on so many of the old Disney musicals that I love. I noticed a few months ago that Grease and Rent had both been added to the list and I watched them both in a weekend. I can’t wait to see what other shows get put into the stream; I love forcing my little sister to watch them with me. I hope that she will learn to love them as much as I do with enough coaxing. She’s pretty amazing when it comes to memorizing songs, I don’t know if there’s a song on the radio that she doesn’t know how to sing. She and I love to sing our favorite Disney songs together too. Recently she’s been pretty partial to Frozen which I like but the songs can get pretty repetitive. I think we will try to watch something old to me but new to her, like Pocahontas, so she has something new to sing.Netflix Stream Team

Taking it Old School for the Family #NetFlix #StreamTeam

One of my favorite things to do with Shae is to watch all of the old Disney movies that I used to have on VHS. Recently, Netflix has added things like Mulan, Robin Hood, Hercules, The Aristocats, and Pocahontas to instant streaming. As part of the Netflix #StreamTeam we get announcements of new (and old) programming that’s been added.Watching Dumbo #StreamTeam #NetFlixKids

This month they’re taking it old school with shows there were more my mom’s era. I’ve heard her get all excited about Jem and the Holigrams. My grandfather’s been known to watch Saved By the Bell marathons on Saturday mornings when everyone else is sleeping.

#NetFlix #StreamTeam

I’m an obscure Disney movie lover. I’m so excited to find the titles that no one else mentions, those are my favorites, those are the ones I grew up with. Now I can share that with Shae and show her that Disney isn’t always princesses and fairy tales.#NetFlix #StreamTeam Classic Television and Movies

2013 Kia Rio SX 5DR

This is a sponsored post but all opinions are our own!!!!

I love test driving vehicles and I especially love test driving Kia vehicles.  A  while back I had the opportunity to drive the 2013 Kia Rio SX 5DR for a week and let me tell you that was a really fun car to drive.

We are a family of five so the 2013 Kia Rio SX 5DR isn’t quite big enough for my entire family but this would be an awesome first car for Sabreena.  The Rio that I drove was loaded with satellite radio, navigation, leather seats, push button start and a ton of other awesome features.  It was awesome on gas with an estimated EPA combined city/highway of 31 mpg.  The week I had this car I was driving to Brigantine for work which was 80 miles one way so needless to say I was extremely happy with the gas mileage considering I was driving about 160 miles round trip each day.

2014-kia-rio-5dr-hb-auto-sx-instrument-panel_100455441_l

The Kia Rio SX 5DR had a very smooth ride as well as very nice pick up for such a small car.  The leg and head room were very nice as well which is important to me considering I am 6’3.  Overall the Kia Rio SX 5DR had everything I could ask for in a car and a lot more.

A few nights while we had the Kia Melinda and I would just take a ride to get out for a little while and enjoy the car.  We really didn’t have anywhere to go but we had a nice new Kia that looked good and we looked good in so we wanted to show it off.  We did have one guy tell us that he really liked the car and that Kia has come a long way in their design and I couldn’t agree more.  The Kia Rio SX 5DR is really sporty and the one we had really fit the bill.  Nice rims, awesome interior, what more could you ask for in a vehicle.

Overall my experience with the Kia Rio SX 5Dr was 5 stars and I would recommend this car to anyone looking for a vehicle that could accommodate four people.

Fabulous Ice Age #NetFlixKids

Netflix_StreamTeam_Badge

2014 disclosure

The Pairs Ice Dancing Competition is my favorite event in the Olympics. I find the chemistry between the couples beautiful and I am always blown away by the amazing jumps and lifts that they are able to perform all while sliding around on thin blades across ice. The way that the two can travel side by side at such a great speed and then the man lifts her and continues with the woman hoisted over his head all while keeping his balance is astounding. The trust that the woman must have in her partner to allow herself to be tossed into the air and spun around never fails to amaze me. They both posses such power and grace and they move so perfectly together; it’s breath-taking.

The Fabulous Ice Age took me back to the very first ice shows in 1930s night clubs and the ice dancer turned movie star Sonja Henie, up to the modern day Disney On Ice performances.

Fabulous Ice Age #netflixkidsThere was so much wonderful old footage of people with so much joy for what they were doing; I was thrilled. All of those people who spent their lives watching these wonderful shows and collecting props and costumes and memorabilia have such a passion for the sport. I don’t blame them. I love seeing the ice shows that Disney puts on. As soon as they began to talk about the start of the Disney shows, I began to remember all of the wonderful times that I’ve had with my family at those performances. They’re so much fun; getting to see my favorite characters and hear the songs from my favorite movies but all performed on ice. It was sad to hear that the old shows had to end for Disney to begin but a whole new era of Americans got to enjoy ice skating the way people did in the 1930s.

Join @ConKerrCancer PJ Party, Philadelphia Please Touch Museum

While a world free of cancer would be a dream come true right now we have to focus on research, compassion and treatment. Bringing smiles to the faces of those working through diagnosis, healing and living is one of the best ways to show support and kindness.ConKerr Cancer Pajama Party 2014 Philadelphia #ConKerrPJParty

ConKerr Cancer was created to bring smiles to some of the 44,000 children in the US that are going through cancer treatments each year. Their mission is to bring a smiles to children with life changing illnesses and to make them feel special.

ConKerr Cancer provides children with their own special pillowcase to help brighten hospital stays. For a child a hospital can be a scary place. It may be unfamiliar, cold and intimidating but something as simple as bright and cheery pillowcase can soothe and comfort.

On March 21, 2014 my family has been invited to join other families in the Philadelphia area at the ConKerr Cancer Pajama Party at The Please Touch Museum. The night is put together to celebrate special kids, the PJ Party Stars, and their families with a fun night dancing, silly picture taking, meeting celebrities and even sewing pillowcases. All of the fun will be had in our jammies.ConKerr Cancer Pajama Party 2014 Philadelphia #ConKerrPJParty

If you are interested in attending the Pajama Party or sponsoring a child in treatment to attend tickets are available for just $25.

Donations are always accepted also. Any contribution is welcome and will bring a smile to a sick child.

They spend day after frightening day stuck in a hospital room when they should be outside playing with friends. And each and every day, ConKerr Cancer volunteers work selflessly to bring them comfort and smiles through a simple act of love called a pillowcase.

If you are local to the Philadelphia area and want to join us for this event we’re giving away 2 tickets. Let me know if your family has been affected by pediatric cancer in any way?

2013 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport SE AWC

This is a sponsored post but all opinions are our own!!!!

In the last two years I have tried seven or eight cars and I must admit that I love the feel of a new car and a few weeks ago I got the opportunity to drive the 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport SE AWC for a week.

Overall I was super happy with the vehicle and the overall performance.  The one and only thing that I didn’t like was the pick up of the vehicle.  In my opinion the 2.0L DOHC engine doesn’t provide enough punch to get that Outlander moving like I would have liked.  Other than that I must admit the 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport SE AWC was a really fun vehicle to drive.  One of my favorite features was the panoramic glass roof with LED illumination.  I loved that the whole roof was open to the outside and that the sun could just shine right in.  When the kids first got into the Outlander the glass roof is something Shaun noticed and he asked if it opened up like a moon roof, nope.  That would be awesome if it did but from a logistics point of view I am sure putting that entire piece of glass somewhere when open would be a total nightmare.

Back To School With #LifeLock

LifeLock Logo with Tagline

I am a LifeLock Ambassador and was compensated for this post but ALL opinions are my own!!

School for most kids has either started or will be starting within the next week.  School here in Delaware started on Monday which meant new clothes, sneakers and tons of school supplies for Sabreena, Shaun and Shae. The kids seem pretty excited for school for the most part and I am as well but the one thing that I am not looking forward to is all of the forms that Melinda and I will need to fill out.

I am not a fan of filling out tons of forms that contain personal information and then trusting my children to get them back to school. I’m not saying I don’t trust my kids I am just saying a lot of stuff can happen between the bus stop and the classroom.  I often wonder how much of the information that we are required to fill out and send back to school is actually needed.  Shaun and Shae go to the same school but we are still required to fill out the same general forms with the same exact information.  I often wonder who at the school sees these forms and what is being done to safe guard our personal information.  I am hoping that the forms are filed and that only authorized personnel are able to access them when necessary.

According to LifeLock, children make prime targets for identity thieves specifically because they have no credit history and thus, clean credit reports. Also, because parents don’t think to check their children’s credit histories, the theft can continue unchecked for over a decade. How appealing are children’s identities to identity thieves? According to a recent news article, police agencies are saying children are now the fastest growing segment of identity theft victims.

After reading that children are prime targets for identity theft it scares me even more that I am required to provide so much personal information that I am not even 100% sure is really necessary.  All I can do is cross my fingers and hope that the school is taking every precaution necessary to keep my kids identity safe and every piece of personal information confidential.  Since I am not a fan of crossing my fingers the only fool proof thing to do is stay protected with LifeLock so that I know I am cover and that my children’s  identity is safe and secure.

If you are looking for that extra step in keeping you and your families identity safe make sure you have LifeLock.

The 2013 Kia Optima SX Limited was super fun to drive.  The pickup was incredible and that was because of the turbocharged engine.  Melinda and I would go out for drives just to get the Kia on the road and that is saying a lot because I hate driving most of the time, LOL.  I really liked the size of the Optima from front to back.  The leg room was great which I look for due to me being 6’3.  The truck was another thing I was impressed with.  We loaded it with a trip to the grocery store as well as BJ’s Wholesale and had plenty of room in the trunk.

20130722_110630 - NEW

Some of my favorite features of the Kia Optima SX Limited were the rear view camera, cooled leather seats, navigation system and satellite radio. When it comes to cars I am very hard to please but I will say that this car had so many features that it was feature overload for me.  Like I mentioned to me this car yells luxury  but if you want to find out for yourself head to your local Kia dealer and see for yourself.

Keep Safe While On Vacation With #LifeLock

I am a LifeLock Ambassador and was compensated for this post but ALL opinions are my own!!

If your family is like mine you look forward to June so that school ends and the kids are finally on vacation for the summer.  I always look forward to summer because to me summer means vacation.  I love vacation but packing and getting ready for a week of fun in the sun tends to be very stressful on so many levels.  We are a family of five so a week away from the house means Melinda and I need to pack a lot of clothes, food and toys and the last thing I want to worry about is identity theft.

Don’t forget vacation time doesn’t mean relax on protecting your identity time.  Vacation destinations are prime spots for you and your identity to be targeted and stolen.

Here are a few tips that can help keep you protected:

  • Use public Wi-Fi carefully – Don’t access banking or private information via public Wi-Fi especially in your hotels.  Hackers can easily hack non-secure Wi-Fi connections.
  • Utilize the hotel safe – If your room has a hotel safe be sure to place any personal items in it such as passports, extra money, travelers checks, birth certificates, etc.
  • Use credit not debit – if for some reason your information is stolen or you lose you card you will be less liable with a credit card than with a debit card.
  • Keep your smart phone safe – If you are like me your smart phone has tons of personal information on it that a thief would have a field day with if they got their hands on it. Be sure to keep it safe and know where it is at all times.

During vacation it is very easy for chaos to break out and for you to become disorganized.  I know on many occasions I have misplaced items like my keys and even my phone for a short period of time but thankfully I found them relatively fast.  Sometimes people aren’t as lucky and that is when bad things can happen.  I am not saying that all fo my tips are fool proof and will protect you 100% but they will help you drastically.

If you are looking for that extra step in keeping you and your families identity safe make sure you have LifeLock.
