Pantene Pro-V Celebrates the Most Beautiful Tresses!

To support the release of “Tangled,” Walt Disney Animation Studios’ 50th full-length animated feature, the world’s leading hair care brand is celebrating the iconic mane of golden-haired Rapunzel to raise awareness of its Pantene Beautiful Lengths campaign.

Started in 2006, the Pantene Beautiful Lengths campaign encourages people to grow, cut and donate their healthy hair to make real-hair wigs for women who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment. More than 220,000 ponytails have been collected for the program to date, and Pantene is aiming to reach its goal of two million inches of total hair collected by year’s end!

Rapunzel’s 70 feet of hair serves as inspiration for Pantene by inspiring families to give back, and teaching children the value of supporting a cause for social good.

Pantene is encouraging YOU to donate your hair! We’re hoping you’ll grow your hair (70 feet of hair not required—only 8 inches!) to magical lengths and make the kindest cut of all.

In order to make the most beautiful, realistic and durable wigs, donated hair must meet the following requirements:

  • Donated hair must be a minimum of 8 inches long (measured from just above the elastic band of the ponytail to the ends)
  • If donating wavy/curly hair, you may straighten it before measuring
  • Hair should be freshly washed and completely dry, without any styling products
  • Hair may be colored with vegetable dyes, rinses and semi-permanent dyes. It cannot be bleached, permanently colored or chemically treated
  • Hair may not be more than 5 percent gray

If you or anyone you know plans to donate, let us know on the Beautiful Lengths tab on Pantene’s Facebook page!

“Pantene is a brand that celebrates strong, healthy, beautiful hair, so working with Disney on ‘Tangled,’ a film featuring an empowered, iconic character that’s known for her long and strong tresses, was a natural choice for us. We’re thrilled with the Pantene-Disney collaboration as we both have huge passion for spreading the message about the Pantene Beautiful Lengths campaign.”

This is NOT a sponsored post but a message that encourages others to do something good with their time or in this case their hair 🙂

Riding To Help Find A Cure For MS

This morning at about 6:30 am I will be on the road riding 100 miles from Cherry Hill, NJ to Ocean City, NJ helping find a cure for MS in the City to Shore Ride.  This will be my second time doing this ride and my third MS ride total.  I will be riding for Team Campbell’s (father in law works for them) and I am pretty excited for the ride.
This is my first century ride this year so hopefully I will finish strong.  If I feel good at the end of the ride Saturday I will ride Sunday from Ocean City, NJ back to Cherry Hill, NJ this time for a total of 75 miles.  If I don’t feel good at the end of Saturday I will be riding back to Cherry Hill, NJ in the car with Melinda and the kids as they will be meeting me at the finish line in Ocean City.
After the ride I am going to get a massage at the finish like for $15 then stuff my face to refuel and then head to the beach with Melinda and the kids to relax and have fun.

RMHC Day of Change

In 2009, Ronald McDonald House Charities raised over $19 million through the RMHC Donation Box program, which helped open 10 Ronald McDonald Houses, 15 Ronald McDonald Family Rooms, and 4 Ronald McDonald Care Mobiles, serving over 4 million children and families in need.

This year’s Day of Change is September 9, 2010.  RMHC is asking all the their supporters to drop off their spare change in Donation Boxes in McDonald’s restaurants. Donation Boxes are a really great way to get families involved in giving back to a meaningful cause – it’s those small acts of kindness and giving to RMHC that keep families together when they need it most.

Help make this day extra-special and this campaign a HUGE success for everyone.  That’s what RMHC is all about anyway … providing resources and stability to families so they can keep their children happy and healthy!

This is not a sponsored post, the information has been presented to us from the RMHC organization to share with your readers, friends and family.   Your experiences and reactions may differ from ours.

Saving Promise is Fighting Against Domestic Violence

We all know there is a steady increase in cases of breast cancer and heart disease. What many people are unaware of is the increase of domestic violence incidents happening each day. Saving Promise is the grassroots efforts of LY Marlow. After being a 3rd generation victim of domestic violence and witnessing the cycle beginning again with granddaughter she knew she had to take a stand. Saving Promise was born.

Domestic violence, also known as intimate partner violence, is a pattern of behaviors designed to control a partner. These behaviors can hurt physically, sexually, psychologically and financially.

  • Physical-grabbing, punching, pushing, slapping, kicking, murder
  • Psychological- emotional and verbal abuse
  • Sexual- Unwanted sexual words or touching, forced or coerced sexual activity, and rape
  • Financial-withholding money, denying a career, confiscating possessions and accounts

More than 32 million Americans are affected by domestic violence each year, and more than three women are murdered each day. Saving Promise blends innovative programs and advocacy campaigns to strengthen domestic violence awareness in your community and around the nation.
Join the Saving Promise ONEVOICE Campaign as we recruit 100,000 people to join our mission and encourage their friends on Facebook, Twitter, My Space and You Tube to do the same.

Sabreena is my shining star. Kohl’s Cares for Kids Toy Story Giveaway-CLOSED

Kohl’s is a company that does amazing things for their communities. Since 2000 The Kohl’s Cares for Kids program had donated more than $126 million to support 100 health and educational opportunities for children nationwide. This program was created as a commitment to the communities the stores serve to benefit projects such as injury prevention, immunizations and education programs for diabetes, asthma and childhood obesity and others.

Each day Kohl’s Cares for Kids provides the net profits of their merchandise sales to support children’s health and education nationwide. The sale of each $5 book or stuffed friend is proof that a little goes a long way. A good book and a snuggly friend can be a positive impact on children far beyond the cash register.

I’m a big fan of Kohl’s stores! We’ve purchased our fair share of books and plush in the past; Sandra Boyton, Dr. Suess, Laura Numeroff, Bill Martin and MORE! We especially love the $5 books. Whether we purchase to keep or give as a gift it’s a great way to bring a smile to a child and help some others in the process.

This season the Kohl’s Care’s for Kids merchandise is in honor of the release of Toy Story 3 in June. Choose from Woody, Buzz and Rex Plush or 1 of 2 Toy Story books as well as Top Secret Restaurant Recipes and Kickin’ Back Country CD all for just $5 each.
