iFrogz CS40’s Headphones Comfy for Kids, Perfect for Dad Gift

As a family we like technology. On car rides the kids or during downtime the kids can be found playing games or listening to music. Even in the car the DVD is a best friend. I hate listening to 3 or 4 different toys/games/devices going at the same time. The IFrogz CS40’s headphones that were sent for Shaun and Shae are awesome.

Since they are younger/littler earbuds don’t usually work for them. The CS40’s are full sized headphones with a cushy, comfortable, ear-cupping fit; the CS stands for comfort series, they got that right. The headband is adjustable too so they can be easily worn by anyone in the family. The ear pieces fold into themselves for easy storage too; helpful when the geek drawer is filled to capacity.

I like that the kids can play and listen and I don’t have to listen to it. The standard jack fits into all of their gadgets plus the DVD player in the van; perfect for when the wireless headphone’s batteries decide to die in the middle of a long car ride. I’ve even plugged them into my laptop to watch old episode of Family Guy on Hulu.

Here is the tech breakdown of the CS40’s from IFrogz (I don’t know what any of this mean, but it might be important to someone)

  • Driver Unit: 40 mm
  • Impedance: 32 ohms
  • Sensitivity: 120 dB +/- 3 dB
  • Frequency Response: 30 Hz to 20 kHz
  • Cord Length: 1.2 m
  • Plug: 3.5 mm

All in all I’m impressed with the durability of the CS40’s. Between Shae who leaves her stuff on the floor to be stepped on and Shaun who is a rough 7 year old these have held up perfectly. The sound quality is great and best of all they are comfortable on my kid’s heads and ears.

IFrogz does more than earphones. iFrogz brings you the absolute most original and customizable iPod™, MP3 player, smart phone and digital media accessories around.

Win your own pair of iFrogz CS40’s (value $39.99) for you or a kiddo in your life. Visit iFrogz and let me know what else catches your eye.

VTech MobiGo with Touchscreen Technology Recap

My kids are hooked on their electronics. I really try to keep the bulk of their plugged in time educational but still fun. The new VTech MobiGo combines those 2 things with the latest touch screen technology. Shae can now sit next to her big brother and sister and play like they do.

The MobiGo comes with a cartridge filled with basic (non-character) learning games. Shae’s favorite so far is Ice Escape. If you are familiar with Parking Lot, it’s very similar to that. The object of the game is to move the ice blocks and snowballs to get the penguin to his meal. I was surprised at how well she picked up this puzzle/strategy game. Here is a rundown of the great features:

  • Touch-screen: MobiGo’s touch-screen technology adds a modern twist to electronic learning games, so kids learn while mimicking the way parents use touch-screen devices.
  • Educational games: From fishing, coloring book pages, drawing and playing instruments, kids can discover a wide variety of fun and engaging learning games.
  • Learning skills: MobiGo teaches a wide range of skills including math, vocabulary, spelling, logic and categorization. The slide open QWERTY keyboard introduces older kids to text typing skills.
  • Downloadable Content: Additional games and content will be available for download so kids can customize
  • their MobiGo with the latest innovative games and continue the learning and fun for years to come.
  • Portable: Handheld robust gaming console makes learning fun on the go for little hands and is equipped with headphone and AC adapter jacks.

Our initial experience wasn’t so hot, we had a problem with the audio but VTech jumped in and remedied the situation immediately. Shae was even happier with her replacement and the special extra game that was sent; Toy Story 3. I can’t wait to pick up the Dora game for her. I’m really hoping for a carrying case also, she’s good for leaving her stuff all over the place.

The VTech MobiGo has become Shae’s #1 electronic game system; in fact we gifted her previous sytem within 2 days knowing she was never going to touch it again. The MobiGo is scheduled to be released June 7th at Toys R Us, MSRP $59.99 with games starting $19.99

Casio EX-FS10 Exilim Recap

Melinda and I are what I would call picture junkies. We take pictures all of the time everywhere we go. We currently use an SLR but were looking for a point and shoot to add to our arsenal of cameras. Its been a while since we owned a point and shoot and originally wanted one mainly for its size but after using our Casio EX-FS10 Exilim that we received for analysis there are so many other features we are happy to have.

I was super excited when I heard that our Casio EX-FS10 Exilim arrived. Thank goodness I was not home when it was delivered because I would have wanted to play with the camera right away. Since I wasn’t home Melinda was able to charge the battery, attach the wrist strap and do all of the other things that I hate doing.

The Casio EX-FS10 Exilim has a ton of great features and here I am going to list a few:

• 9.1-megapixel resolution

• 3x optical image-stabilized zoom

• 30 shot-per-second high-speed burst shooting (6 MP images)

• HD Movie function (will record beautiful videos at a size of 1280×720 pixels)

• Capture images to SD/SDHC memory cards (not included)

• 2.5 cm clear LCD screen

A few of my favorite features of the Casio EX-FS10 Exilim is its size. It is 3.8 inches wide, 2.3 inches high and .64 inches thin which makes it so easy to put it in my back pocket and go. I also like the 30 shot-per-second high-speed burst. What better way for me to catch all of Shaun’s and Shae’s crazy play time activities. So far the camera is awesome but the one thing that is a little bit of a letdown is the HD movie function. From what I have seen you need extremely good natural light in order for the movie to turn out well. I am still playing with the settings and things of that nature to see if I can fine tune to movie quality in low light situations but so far no luck. I used the HD movie function today during the day and the video rocked.

All in all the Casio EX-FS10 Exilim is an excellent camera and can be purchased at places like Amazon and retails for approximately $170.00.

Wii Fit Plus Recap

Working out and exercising doesn’t bother me, actually a lot of the time I really enjoy working out. For those of you who find it boring or not fun to exercise should try working out using Wii Fit Plus. When I feel like I need a change of pace in my routine I turn to Wii Fit Plus.

Wii Fit Plus is packed with every feature from Wii Fit—plus new exercises and tools to personalize your exercise routine. If you already have a profile on the original Wii Fit, you can easily transfer it over to Wii Fit Plus making it a super easy transition. Will Fit Plus has some pretty cool new features like My Wii Fit Plus which allows you to personalize your Wii Fit Plus workouts. Calories Burned is another really cool new feature which allows you to set daily goals on how many calories you want to burn. Everyone who is trying to lose weight watches their calories to some extent and this new feature easily allows you to do that.

Sabreena and I have each used Wii Fit Plus a few times since receiving it for analysis a few days ago. We also have Wii Fit so we could definitely see the improvements made and all of the new strength training routines as well as yoga routines that have been added. One of the areas we really like in Wii Fit and Wii Fit Plus are the balance games and there are 15 cool new ones for Wii Fit Plus. One of my favorite new balance games on the Wii Fit Plus is the Snowball Fight. Sabreena has two favorites which are Island Cycling and Rhythm Kung Fu. All in all the Wii Fit Plus is a very nice improvement over the original Wii Fit.

If you already have Wii Fit you have the Wii balance board so for $19.99 you can upgrade to the disc only version of Wii Fit Plus. If you are new to Wii Fit Plus for $99.99 you can get the disc and the Wii balance board. Wii Fit Plus can be bought at retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, Target, Game Stop and others. Wii Fit Plus is worth the money as well as the time you will spend using it. If you are looking to have some fun while working out give Wii Fit Plus a try.

Logitech Indoor Video Security Master System

Being as anal as I am I always worry about the house when we are away for any length of time. Thank goodness for Logitech because my fears are now calmed with the Logitech Indoor Video Security Master System.

Logitech was nice enough to send me the Indoor Video Security Master System for analysis. I am grateful they did because I received it before Christmas and was able to set the camera up in the living room. The camera was setup so it would capture any activity in the living room which is where our Christmas tree and presents were.
Setup was simple and in less than 15 minutes my camera was up and running. All I had to do was run the setup wizard to install the software on my computer, plug in the USB receiver module and then setup and plug in the camera and that was about it. The Logitech Indoor Video Security Master System uses Homeplug connectivity which means you’ll be up and running in no time—no new wires to run, no network configuration. It transmits encrypted video over your existing electrical wires straight to your PC. It’s really that easy.

Once I was done with these steps the next thing I did was go to the WiLife Command Center and got myself familiar with how the command center works. The WiLife Command Center is where you can playback recorded video or watch live video.

What I think is really cool about the Logitech Indoor Video Security Master System is that when the camera detects motion WiLife automatically records video and saves them as .wmv files on your pc’s hard drive. Once recorded on your hard drive you can go back and watch the video segments via the playback screen.

The Logitech Indoor Video Security Master System also allows you to receive email and cell phone alerts when a camera detects motion. You have the option to receive one of three message types: simple text only, text and one frame of video or a video clip. You also have the ability to remotely watch video while away from home via a computer or Windows Mobile enabled wireless PDAs or cell phones. Log into WiLife Online at online.wilife.com and you can access live video from your cameras anywhere in the world, at any time.

Watch CBS News Videos Online

The Logitech Indoor Video Security Master System supports up to six cameras so if you need to add additional cameras you have the option to. Logitech also has an outdoor camera you can add in addition to the indoor cameras if you need to record what is going on outside of the home. If you need additional features other then what I have listed or system requirements click HERE.

I have been using the Logitech Indoor Video Security Master System for about two months and am really impressed with how easy the system was to setup and use. I am also impressed with the cameras video quality. If you need piece of mind while away from the home I would recommend picking up the Logitech Indoor Video Security Master System.

Want to win your own Logitech Indoor Video Security Master System ? Visit Logitech and tell me what you like most about the indoor or outdoor security system.

Santa’s gift to Shaun, Tony Hawk: RIDE

The hottest video game of the season has a new home in our house. Tony Hawk: RIDE is an innovative motion sensing controller shaped like a skateboard that is available for the Wii, Playstation 3 and XBOX 360.
Have you ever wanted to skate like Tony Hawk? This game lets you lift, tilt and turn to complete over 100 tricks at 6 locations all over the globe. The official website gives a great tutorial on movements to master tricks such as an Ollie or Kick Flip and also how to combine them for cooler effects and game advancement.

This year Santa brought RIDE to Shaun and Sabreena. From the second Shaun saw the box he knew what was is it, he tore through that wrapping and wanted to hook it up to the XBOX 360 right away. He played for hours on Christmas night and easily got the hang of the standard movements and skimmed through the locations and challenges. He likes to test out the different levels of a game before really starting his journey. Shaun also liked trying out all characters/players but always went back to Tony Hawk.

One thing I’d love to see is the Party feature. This lets you play an 8 multiplayer game online with Playstation 3 or XBOX 360.

Unfortunately we’ve had a ton of plans the rest of the weekend that has prohibited Shaun from continuing his training but with the next week off of school there is no doubt that he’s going to master the tricks before heading into the New Year.

If you or your kids are gamers or if you just love extreme sports like our boy does you gotta check out Tony Hawk: RIDE for yourself. Gather up all that holiday cash and gift cards and get your own RIDE.

Tony Hawk: RIDE just in time for the holidays

You should know by now that we love video games, well mostly the kids but I get excited when we find fun games that 1) aren’t violent 2) are interactive 3) entertain more than just one person in the house. I found another winner! Tony Hawk: RIDE

Available for the Wii, XBOX 360 and Play Station 3, RIDE features an innovative motion sensing skateboard controller, and redefines the sports genre by offering a fully dynamic hands-free gaming experience. Designed in conjunction with the game, the cutting edge wireless controller allows for unprecedented freedom and movement. Players of all experience levels will have the chance to feel what it’s really like to skate.

Some of the key features of the game include:

• Anyone Can RIDE: Featuring different modes tailored to skill and preference, Tony Hawk: RIDE is fully accessible to everyone – from hardcore fans to players with no prior skateboarding experience. Without complex button combinations or analog sticks, gamers can literally step on the board to play.

• Unique Motion-Sensitive Controller: Using full motion sensing technology, the intuitive skateboard controller allows players to physically control the action by performing various movements and gestures on the board that directly translate into amazing tricks in the game. Gamers can experience a full range of movement as they rotate, tilt and lift the board in a variety of ways to discover new tricks in the game.

• Exciting, Immersive and Social Game Play: Tony Hawk: RIDE features a diverse set of trick, vert, and speed challenges that allow players to take on their friends and family as they compete with each other via “Hot Seat” game play. With robust multiplayer, online and create-a-skater modes, players can jump into a personalized and extremely social gaming experience

You can find out more information about Tony Hawk: Ride at the official website: http://www.thride.com/us/

Also visit the official Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/tonyhawkride

And follow up on Twitter: http://twitter.com/thride

Keep an eye out Christmas weekend when we get the chance to review our own RIDE.

With today’s economy and high gas prices people are traveling less to visit family. A great way to keep in contact with loved ones is via a webcam and the Logitech Webcam Pro 9000 is a great webcam to use.
