Adobe and I Are Best Friends

About a month ago I bought a new laptop which is the computer I use when I work from home but I still haven’t installed Acrobat CreatePDF on it as of yet and I am not sure why.

It seems like every time I work from home my boss asks for something in PDF format which I was able to do with my old laptop because I had a pdf converter installed but currently I am unable to do it until I get it installed on my new laptop.  I know what you are thinking you want to know why I don’t just take the ten to twenty minutes that it will take to install it and to be honest I have no answer for you.  I have been extremely busy in the office as well as at home and in the last month or so I haven’t worked from home at all so there has been no urgency on my part to get the pdf converter installed.

I wonder if my boss has a pdf converter because she is always asking me to convert the documents she needs.  Either way I need to get on it ASAP before the New Year so if and when I do work from home the next time I will be prepared.

Last Minute Shopping at Dollar Tree

glitter glue school suppliesDon’t forget about teachers and child care providers for the holidays. We all know teachers and educators are way underpaid for the work that they do so I try to make it a point to show some appreciation during holidays and end of the school year. This year we made homemade gifts to enjoy with the whole family but gifts that are useful like school supplies for teachers are greatly valued.

Teachers tend spend so much money out of their own pockets for school supplies. As a parent I want my child to get the most out of learning so I want to help in any way that I can. I try to help the teachers stock up on basics like glue sticks and erasers but also make it fun with stickers, stamps, festive pencils and art supplies. Dollar Tree is one of my favorite spots to stock up not just for the classroom but for home. We do workbooks and crafts at home and need lots of the same things they use in schools.

This year I shopped for stocking stuffers at the Dollar Tree. I got Shae coloring books, Shaun is getting a couple animal encyclopedias and Sabreena will be seeing new nail polishes and make-up brushes. Shopping for yourself, your family or others Dollar Tree has a little something for everyone.

This could be a cool opportunity

I got a really cool opportunity from a sponsor recently. This particular PR rep’s client liked my review so much that they want to add it to their advertising in their storefronts. How cool is that, a blurb written by me on a real live store. She emailed me and asked if I could send her a PDF of the review. I was instantly confused I mean I know how to take documents from PDF to Word but I don’t know how to do it the other way around. I asked around Twitter-land and was told it was really simple I just needed Acrobat.com. I don’t have that, not that I know of.

Anyway, she got back to me and said she can do it herself she just needed my ok. I figured it would be really cool advertising for LookWhatMomFound…and Dad too!. Even if 1 person comes here and reads something funny or enters a giveaway isn’t that worth it? One new reader is better than no new readers, right.
Blogging to me isn’t about getting famous or having 1 million page views a month. Blogging has always been about sharing cool stuff with you guys and giving you a peek into the chaos and joys of our life.

How Long Could You Survive?

A few years back I worked with a guy who kept a lot of freeze dried food on hand for that just in case moment.  He was Mormon and told me it was necessary for him to keep about 6 months of food on hand for emergency preparedness and at the time I thought that was weird.

Thinking back I can understand why he wanted to be self sufficient when it came to food but he must have had a huge food storage area.  Melinda always laughs at me for keeping extra food on hand.  Don’t get me wrong we don’t have 6 months worth of food but we could probably go about a month.  If we have four jars of spaghetti sauce in our pantry and we use one or two the next time I go shopping I make sure to replenish our sauce supply.

I know that is weird but there is nothing worse than using the last of an item and not having another one just in case.  I like going to the grocery store once a week so I guess being so nuts about our food allows us to do that.  I am not sure where I got this trait from because my parents are like that but I am and we even have a chest freezer that we fill with bulk items from our local BJ’s wholesale club.

Maybe I am nuts but I like knowing that I have extra food on hand just in case I need it.

Do you keep extra food on hand?  If so how long could you live off of your food supply?

Wal-Mart Is Always An Interesting Trip

We live in Newark, Delaware but we do border Elkton Maryland which tends to be a little on the hick side. Don’t get all mad and what not because to me there is nothing wrong with that because my own father leans more towards the hick side. I just find this way of living and thinking interesting to say the least.

The other day I was at the Super Wal-Mart in Elkton when I heard what sounded like a train horn. Living in this area and shopping at this same Wal-Mart for the last 1.5 years I realized there were no train tracks close and after closer examination I realized that sound was coming for a large pickup truck. I am guessing the owner of the pickup truck was researching how to take his hickness to the next level and stumbled upon train horns for trucks and then decided a train horn kit was exactly what would make his truck 100% worthy.  It is kind of cool because I am sure you could force traffic out of your way with this type of horn but it just isn’t something I would install on my car.

Again, I am not judging I just find these kinds of things interesting.

Just thought I would share this information with you.  Ever see or heard a train horn on something other then a train?

1800PetMeds Coupons: Perfect for Pet Owners

Pet owners know that there’s a lot more that goes into owning and taking care of an animal than feeding it, giving it water, and make sure it has a place to take care of its “business”. There are medications that they need such as flea and heartworm pills, and there may be health issues down the road such as allergies or sensitive skin. Therefore, it’s important for a pet owner to have somewhere to turn for all pharmacy-related products—a place like 1800PetMeds.

There are many benefits that a consumer can receive when shopping from 1800PetMeds.

Some of the most notable include:

  • Savings! You can save a ton by purchasing from 1800PetMeds instead of from your veterinarian’s office or another online retailer. And when you use a 1800PetMeds coupon code on top of the site’s regular, everyday savings, you’d be surprised how much you can save.
  • All orders over $39 receive free shipping.
  • 1800PetMeds has the largest number of veterinary pharmacists in the worlds whose responsibilities include monitoring for negative drug interactions, ensuring prescription accuracy, and more.
  • Knowledge! 1800PetMeds provides its customers with not only the best products but also with invaluable information regarding being a pet owner. The website’s Pet Education center can help even the newest pet owner understand the ins and outs of how to properly take care of an animal—and what to do if there’s a problem. Furthermore, if you have any questions that should be directed to a pet pharmacist, then 1800PetMeds can help you out. The pharmacy is Vet-VIPPS accredited by the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy and can provide you with top-notch service.
  • 1800PetMeds carries the same high quality, name brand medications and products as your veterinarian’s office.
  • Satisfaction guaranteed! The retailer promises that you’ll get your money back if you’re not completely happy with your purchase. If your pet doesn’t like it, you changed your mind, you ordered the wrong size, your pet gets heartworms, or the product doesn’t work, you’ll get your money back with absolutely no hassle. That’s a lot more than you can say for more of the other pet retailers.
  • All of 1800PetMeds’ products are United States FDA/EPA-approved.
  • The lowest price—guaranteed! 1800PetMeds vows that if you find a lower price elsewhere, then they will honor that price (as long as the produce is FDA/EPA-approved for the U.S., of course). And that doesn’t just mean the product price—that includes shipping and handling charges as well as any other fees that might apply to your purchase.
  • 1800PetMeds does its best to be the best and have the best products. Therefore, they consistently test their products and do what they can to improve them. Before 1800PetMeds sells any products, they’re thoroughly tested so that safety can be ensured.

As you can see, there are many different reasons why you would want to consider purchasing your pet’s medications, food, and other products from 1800PetMeds. By using a petmeds coupon code, the savings just keep adding up.

My Girl Is About To Get Her Drive On

Some of you might already know this and some of you may not but Melinda and I have a 15 year old daughter soon to be 16 in January. I know your first thought is they look way too young to have a 15 year old. Well in my head that is what I want your first thought to be. LOL.

Turning 16 in Delaware means you are now able to get your drivers permit where you are able to drive with adult supervision until you turn 16.5 then you can drive on your own. At the age of 16.5 is when I also need to add Sabreena to our current auto policy due to our insurance companies rules. Honestly I am not looking forward to that day at all considering we pay a fortune without having a teen on our policy but that is part of having kids unless we make her get her own auto policy which I doubt I will do.

A few weeks or so we were discussing what vehicle Sabreena will be driving once she is able to drive and most likely it will be my car which is an 07 Chevy HHR which will be a very dependable first car for her. Giving Sabreena my car means that I need to go out a look for a new car for myself and In Delaware there is a road I call auto alley because they have a ton of dealers like the Chrysler dealer, Jeep Dealer and a few more.

Recently I passed the Dodge dealer and spotted my next car which is the Dodge Challenger. I am not 100% certain that Melinda is going to approve of this as my new car but I hope so because that is one sweet ride. If I was to get the Challenger I want the V8 Hemi with 470 HP. Not sure why I even need a car with that much speed but I do just in case.

So needless to say the next six months or so is going to be a little stressful with Sabreena and teaching her how to drive and everything else that goes with having a teen driver in the house.

Do you have a teen driver? If so how bad is/was it when they started to drive?

Make Sure You Talk To You Kids!!!

Having a 15 year old daughter makes me nervous as hell to begin with and looking through this info graphic about STD’s doesn’t help. This info graphic is the perfect tool for parents to use when talking to their kids about sex and STD’d since it puts it in kind of a cartoon format for kids and young teens to understand. We have spoken to Sabreena about this topic on numerous occasions but you can bet I will have her look through this just so she is 100% sure that what Melinda and I have told her is real and that we weren’t just trying to scare her (even thought maybe I was just a little bit).

Have you spoken to your kids about sex and STD’s?
