Take a Picture and Win a Trip to the Superbowl from Canon

Canon U.S.A., Inc, a leader in digital imaging, and the Pro Football Hall of Fame are looking for the best youth football photos from across America. Football fans are encouraged to pick up a camera this season and show their passion for the sport through photography by entering the sixth annual “Why Do You Love Football?” photo challenge.

The nationwide amateur photo contest is divided into two divisions, Adults ages 18 and over and Teens 13-17, and consists of two categories. The category Action focuses on any image that captures football action during game play and Feature comprises any football imagery outside of game action. The winning photographer in both divisions will have the opportunity to attend Super Bowl XLV in North Texas and receive a trip to the  2011 Pro FootballHall of Fame Enshrinement Celebration. The winning photos will be displayed in the Pro Football Hall of Fame for one year.

Fans are invited to enter up to 10 of their best youth football photos from September 2, 2010, to December 1, 2010, by visiting www.usa.canon.com/nfl and following the online entry instructions.

A judging panel consisting of: Archie Manning, former NFL quarterback and father of two Super Bowl MVP quarterbacks; Peter Read Miller, Canon Explorer of Light and Sports Illustrated photographer; and other prominent staff photographers and photo editors will determine the group of 14 finalists in each division. Once the field is narrowed, fans will make the final call by voting for their favorite photo from December 20, 2010 until January 7, 2011, via the contest website listed above, with the Grand Prize winners being announced in early January.

“Year after year I look forward to see how fans portray their passion for the game of football through their photography,” said former NFL quarterback Archie Manning. “Each year the photos entered in the contest get better and better and I am looking forward to see what this year’s will produce.”

Super Mario Bros is 25 Years Old!

Twenty-five years ago today, Nintendo’s original Super Mario Bros.™ video game made its debut in Japan and changed the world of video games forever. Since then, Mario™ has become one of the most renowned and beloved video game characters around the globe.

American Girl says goodbye to Felicity

American Girl officially announced plans to say farewell to Felicity Merriman, one of the company’s treasured historical characters introduced in 1991. Felicity’s complete product collection, including her best friend Elizabeth Cole™, will soon be removed from American Girl’s catalogue, Web site, and retail stores and placed in the American Girl Archives™. Because stories are at the heart of the company’s mission to celebrate girls, the Felicity books will still be sold on americangirl.com, at American Girl’s retail stores, and at bookstores nationwide.

Felicity, a spirited girl living in Williamsburg, VA, in 1774, has captured girls’ imaginations with her compelling story of strength and determination in Colonial America. Countless girls have found a friend in Felicity while learning about the trials and triumphs of growing up at the start of the Revolutionary War, from saving a beautiful horse named Penny to learning how to be a proper gentlewoman.

Nintendo Announces A Price Drop!

Nintendo is dropping the suggested retail price of its Nintendo DSi™ and Nintendo DSi XL™ video game systems. Effective Sept. 12, the new suggested retail price of the Nintendo DSi system will be $149.99, while the new suggested retail price for the Nintendo DSi XL system will be $169.99. The Nintendo DS™ Lite model will remain at a suggested retail price of $129.99. The Nintendo DS family of video game systems is the best-selling in the history of the U.S. and worldwide. The new prices offer consumers tremendous value for their money while providing access to the best portable video game experiences possible.

“We know shoppers want to get the maximum value out of every dollar they spend,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “Our new Nintendo DSi prices make it easier than ever for consumers to access the tremendous variety of games, applications and social tools on the Nintendo DSi and Nintendo DSi XL systems.”

The Nintendo DSi and Nintendo DSi XL systems offer consumers access to more than 1,300 packaged games and more than 200 downloadable games. Both systems feature two built-in cameras and photo- and sound-manipulation software that provide for a more social experience. Users can wirelessly upload photos to Facebook with the touch of a button (wireless broadband Internet access required). The Nintendo DSi XL system, which features a screen that is 93 percent larger than that of the Nintendo DS Lite, comes pre-loaded with software like Brain Age™ Express: Math, Brain Age Express: Arts & Letters, Flipnote Studio™, Photo Clock and the Nintendo DSi Browser.

Through the end of July, total Nintendo DS family hardware sales are more than 42.3 million in the United States alone, according to the NPD Group. Thomas Town opens June 5th Six Flags America

Six Flags America, the Mid-Atlantic’s premier destination for family thrills, today announced the Grand Opening of Thomas TownSM, a newly-created children’s area based on the popular Thomas & Friends™ brand. Thomas Town at Six Flags America will open on Saturday, June 5, at 10:30 a.m. with a Grand Opening ceremony.

The largest permanent theme park attraction based on Thomas & Friends in North America, Thomas Town at Six Flags America features eight rides and attractions designed to thrill families of all ages. This exciting family area’s cornerstone ride is a replica of Thomas the Tank Engine™ that takes guests on a journey through Thomas’ home on the Island of Sodor. Other rides featured at Thomas Town at Six Flags America include Bertie the Bus, Harold the Helicopter, the Sodor Carnival ferris wheel, the Diesel Derby, and the Cranky the Crane drop tower. Good Morning Maryland ABC News, That’s ME!

Working with the Child Hunger Ends Here Campaign has been one of the most inspiring projects of my life. I’ve volunteered before but never felt that I could really make an impact they way I am with this fundraiser.
Good Morning Maryland, ABC 2 News brought me in the studios yesterday morning to talk about the Block Party this weekend and the support I’ve received following that appearance has been overwhelming.
