Wii Excitebots Trick Racing

My kids and I love playing the Wii and are always looking for good games that we can play against each other. We were fortunate to have received a good two player racing game for analysis called Excitebike: Trick Racing.

The fourth game in the Excitebike series, and the second on the Wii platform, Excitebots features a dozen funky bot racers in the form of mechanical insects, amphibians, and mammals. Excitebots: Trick Racing players race around internationally located tracks using their favorite bot which has its own special abilities. You progress thru the game by racing around the tracks at high speeds while doing tricks and performing stunts and playing mini games. The object is to earn stars. You can also earn extra/bonus stars by crossing the finish line sooner. The sooner you finish the more stars you earn so speed is important but so are stunts and style. The stars then can be used to buy a new bot, icons and statues.

Excitebots: Trick Racing can be played with either the Wii remote or the Wii Wheel. The game is awesome using either remote but in my opinion the Wii Wheel gives the game the real driving experience and feeling. After the game arrived at my house yesterday and my son realized what it was he stating the normal harassing hoping I would say yes. Since I could tell he was super excited to try Excitebots I obviously couldn’t say no. The game menus were pretty easy to navigate and once he created a profile for himself he was off to the races. The first thing he did was the training section so he could get familiar with the game and the controls. After he was pretty sure he knew how to play he choose the Bat bot and started racing. At first he didn’t do to well but once he had a few games under his belt he was coming in 1st and 2nd place regularly. When I asked Shaun what he thought of the game he said “Awesome”.
If a 6 year old thinks the game is awesome it must be. I did not get a chance to play but from what I saw I have a feeling I am going to enjoy this game very much. If you get a chance you can pick this game up online and at most major retailers for about $40.00. If you are looking for a quality 2 player race game with a nice bug bot twist Excitebots: Trick Racing is for you. Happy Racing!!!

Nintendo DS Personal Trainer:Walking Recapitulation

Working out and getting into shape is not at the top of everyone’s priority list these days. With work, kids, sports, etc it’s hard to find time to work out. Nintendo has a nice product for the Nintendo DS called Personal Trainer:Walking. Who would have thought the Nintendo DS could help you get into shape but with Personal Trainer:Walking you can achieve your goals and all you have to do it walk.

Personal Trainer:Walking measures your Life Rhythm and step count as you walk by using the two activity meters included. Since Personal Trainer:Walking comes with two activity meters you have one for yourself and you can give the other meter to your kids, spouse, friend or even your dog. Personal Trainer:Walking has some pretty cool features including creating a Mii character when you first register which is a first for the Nintendo DS system. If you have the Nintendo Wii and have a Mii you like you are able to download that Mii to your Nintendo DS which I think is a totally cool feature. You also set your own total daily step count and you activity meter accessory light turns green once you have met your goal. If you feel like taking your fitness to the next level set additional mini targets for yourself, like extra physical activity. Personal Trainer:Walking lets you use the activity monitor data in the game to monitor your routine and graphs your progress by day and week and has a calendar which lets you take a step back and look at your long-term progress.

I was lucky enough to receive the Personal Trainer:Walking for the Nintendo DS to analyse and let me tell you I was totally impressed. It was really easy to set up so you won’t be spending a lot of time trying to figure it out but instead you will be walking and getting closer to your fitness goal. Last night my daughter and I each put on the activity meter and hit the street. After our walk we came home to see our progress which was really easy to do. I am not a big walker for exercise but now that I have the Personal Trainer:Walking for Nintendo DS I will be. I also plan to wear the activity meter to work and thru out the day which will motivate me to take more walks around the office and take the stairs instead of the elevator.

Personal Trainer: Walking is a really nice fitness tool and retails for only $49.99 and is sold online and at most major retailers. The game supports up to four players so you can get others to join you in your quest to WALK more. Enjoy!!!!!!

My family and I had a chance to try the Griddler and let me tell you I am hooked. Platinum KEURIG Brewer Recapitulation

If you read my husband’s site at all you’d know he works a wacky schedule. Some days he’s at work at 4am, sometimes as early as 1:30am. To be able to get up this early he NEEDS his coffee. For a while he was going without until getting to work to have the “stuff” they provide but when that “stuff” got worse he knew he was going to have to do something different. Buying coffee that early in the morning wasn’t always the answer as there are limited resources for coffee that tasted good and running the coffee pot at that time was a NO-NO unless he was going to deal with woken up kids. He found Keurig and knew this would solve his problems. The Keurig is a single-cup brewing system that allows you to enjoy hot drinks like coffee, tea and hot cocoa in less than 2 minutes with no fuss and no mess and better yet no NOISE. We were debating whether to buy one buy in the meantime but Rob diligently entered a blog giveaway and WON from Life in a House of Blue. To say he was psyched was an understatement. I’ll admit I was a bit excited too. Now he wants the mini brewer for his desk so he can have multiple cups of coffee!

The Keurig is a staple in this house. It gets used at least twice a day sometimes more. When we go on vacation in a couple weeks there is no doubt Keurig is coming with us. My parents came over and were so jealous that my mother went out and bought one for my father. He was so excited too. We’ve tested out lots of coffee, tea and hot cocoa flavors and I think we have narrowed down our favorites, Rob likes Caribou Coffee and I like Green Mountain Coffee. Shae even knows what I’m doing once I pull out my mug and starts yelling coffee and doing a slurping sound. One of the very cool things is you aren’t limited to using the K-cups, there is a Reusable K-Cup Filter that allows us to use our own coffee. Now we can grind some Starbucks (at a reasonable time) and brew if we are in the mood or out of the K-Cups (like that would ever happen).

What we like best is how simple and quick the Keurig is to use. In the past we were notorious for wasting pots of coffee because we would brew then get caught up doing other things or leaving the house and never actually get to drinking it. The Keurig allows me to make my serving in seconds where betting our fancy coffee pot takes forever to get coffee measures, water measured, a filter in and the then waiting for it to grind, brew and finish dripping. This is exactly why I never made coffee on the weekdays. Dropping in a k-Cup and hitting the brew button takes seconds. In the time it takes to give Shae her banana, toast waffles for Sabreena and give Shaun a bowl of cereal my coffee is done and waiting for me. I can then sit with the kids and eat breakfast WITH THEM instead of after them.

Here are the actual features for the Keurig Platinum Brewing System ($169.95)

• 5 Cup Sizes: 4 oz, 6 oz, 8 oz,
10 oz, & 12 oz * (good for things like cup of soup or other recipes)
• Removable 60 oz Reservoir(largest of all brewers)
• Fully Programable Features (timer is available but never used since it only takes seconds)
• Blue Backlit Display(our nightlight)
• Quiet Brew™ Technology(it is very quiet)
• Award Winning Design (small footprint, no bigger than our old brewer)
• Removable drip tray for easy cleanup or access for larger travel mugs
• Sleek design(modern black and chrome styling)

Are you convinced yet? Are you headed out right now to get your own Keurig? Don’t leave the comforts of your sofa, buy online right from Keurig, in fact buy everything you need including the coffee tea and hot cocoa, there are 100’s of brands and flavors available.

Keurig is generously giving LookWhatMomFound readers the chance to win a Platinum Brewing System of their own. Visit Keurig and tell me what flavor K-Cup or accessory would be perfect to go along with your brewer.

Baby Signs with Elizabeth program giveaway

Communication is KEY.
Don’t they say that about everything; marriage, career, friends. What about communication with your baby or toddler? What do you do when they can’t speak, write or read? The Baby Signs® Program teaches babies simple, easy to use gestures for communicating with others. By using motions and mimicking concepts or actions babies are now able to “talk” with parents and caregivers and reduce the frustration felt by all in the past. Baby Signs goes beyond “bye-bye” and “all gone”, your baby can ask to read you to read her a book or for a specific snack without the guessing game of “Why is she crying again”. The Baby Signs® Program helps children develop both language and cognitive skills. Studies show that babies who sign actually develop speech sooner and have larger vocabularies when they do start talking.

I used Baby Signs when Shaun was little and again with Shae. Shaun was a late talker but was always able to ask for a specific snack or drink. Shae on the other hand was a early talker but Baby Signs helped us understand her better and also communicate with others. At the age of 22 months she still uses some signs out of habit even though she can say them perfectly. I love that she can say thank you for a cookie while doing the sign for thank you, it looks so sweet.

Elizabeth Sprague is the mother of 3 boys and a baby Sign Language Instructor in Portland Oregon. Elizabeth was born deaf in one ear, and obviously had an early interest in learning Sign Language. Growing up in the middle of her mother’s in-home daycare and having six siblings gave her a love of being surrounded by children. Elizabeth studied ASL and Child Psychology, but studying the Baby Signsº Program specifically has been the most fun and rewarding. Being a mommy to three perfect little boys! She has used Baby Sign Language with all of them and has seen the amazing benefits first hand, both immediate and the ones that come later. Here is her youngest son Joshua at age 14 months working on his signs.

Teaching Baby Signs classes is a great way for Elizabeth to share this great way for parents and caregivers to have a window into a child’s life before they can talk. She teaches because she knows it works to provide all the benefits it claims to. Some parents worry about it not being natural or possibly delaying speech, but Elizabeth has the research (both professional and personal) to ease those fears and even downright prove them wrong! She wants to share this program with as many families as she can because it makes happier babies, which leads to happier parents and caregivers……. and who doesn’t want to be happier?

The Benefits of Baby Signs®

Families who use the Baby Signs® Program know firsthand that there are many benefits to using signs with their babies. Using the Baby Signs® Program …
• Reduces tears, tantrums, & frustration
• Allows babies to share their worlds
• Increases respect for babies
• Strengthens the parent-infant bond
• Boosts self-esteem and self-confidence
• Makes learning to talk easier
• Stimulates intellectual development

Over two decades of Baby Signs® research has shown that these proven benefits affect different areas of a child’s development. Using the Baby Signs® Program stimulates:
• Social-Emotional Development
• Language Development
• Cognitive Development

Elizabeth and I are so confident that Baby Signs is an excellent tool for your family that she wants to give my readers the chance to win The Complete Starter Kit; which contains everything parents and their babies need for a successful start to signing fun OR the Baby Signs Potty Training Kit which contains everything you need to make potty training fun and easy.

Cloth Diapering Basics and Happy Heiny One-Size Giveaway

For my next installment of the Preparing for Baby series I’m going to bring you something that is near and dear to my heart, CLOTH DIAPERING. While I’ve been cding Shae since she was a newborn I’m not an expert in all the types of diapers. My new friend Sherrie with Itty Bitty Baby Bunz has given a short and sweet breakdown of the styles and their benefits.

One of the greatest things about choosing to use a cloth diapering method for your child is all the options that are available to you. You truly get to find a system that works for your family’s needs simply because there are so many styles/kinds from which to choose. Unfortunately, all these choices can be quite daunting for families new to cloth. Here’s a quick rundown of what you will find when you decide to use cloth diapers on your child and a basic guide to help deliver you from the confusion:

4 basic types of cloth diapers to choose from
• All-in-One’s/All-in-Two’s
• Pockets
• Fitteds
• Prefolds/Flats

Benefits:
Needs a waterproof wrap/cover-Fitteds & Prefolds/Flats
Needs a special fastener-Fitteds & Prefolds/Flats
Needs inserts to work-Pockets
Has elastic legs/waist- Pockets, Fitteds & Prefolds/Flats
Easy to clean-All-in-One’s/All-in-Two’s, Pockets, Fitteds & Prefolds/Flats
Fast drying-Pockets, Fitteds & Prefolds/Flats
Easy to use-All-in-One’s/All-in-Two’s &Pockets
Available in colors/prints-All-in-One’s/All-in-Two’s, Pockets, Fitteds & Prefolds/Flats
Daddy/babysitter approved-All-in-One’s/All-in-Two’s &Pockets
Trim fit-All-in-One’s/All-in-Two’s & Pockets
Economical-Prefolds/Flats

And the winners are…..

Economic Award — Prefolds/Flats
At $20 a dozen plus a few bucks for covers and closures (pins or Snappis), you can effectively diaper your child from birth to potty learning for under $400 dollars. (Throw-away diapers can easily cost you this much in 6 months – eek!) NOTE: you do not need to purchase a huge set of covers because covers can be wiped clean during wet changes and reused.

Transition Award – All-in-1’s
All-in-One’s are exactly that – everything you need to diaper your child in one piece. They require no inserts, no pins and no covers to work properly. They are an excellent transition diaper from throw away to cloth.

Convenience Award – Pocket Diapers
With a just a little preparation (stuffing the insert into the diaper), pocket diapers are the perfect solution for busy families where dad, in-laws, daycares and/or babysitters take part in diapering baby. These diapers are easy to launder (quick drying because of the removable absorbent insert) and easy to place on your baby. Since they require an absorbent material inside the pocket to function properly, pocket diapers offer caregivers exciting options. Microfiber inserts can be used for a trim diaper or add a hemp or second microfiber insert for extra absorbency overnight or for heavy wetters. Prefolds, flats, or even microfiber towels all work in pocket diapers as inexpensive inserts. Extra bonus – never have to touch the wet/soiled diaper! Just shake the insert loose into your laundry pail or bag. No ICK factor!

If you have multiple children in diapers and don’t want to deal with grabbing the right size every time they need a change, a One-Size diaper might be a good option for your family. Or, if you have only one child but don’t wish to purchase a whole new stash of diapers each time your child grows, a One-Size diaper could be the answer for you. There are many different brands of One-Size diapers available; however, most of them work using a system of snaps or fasteners on the front of the diaper. These front adjusters allow you to select the appropriate rise for your child and in essence, grow with your child. One-Size diapers will accommodate most children through their potty learning years. What a savings! A wonderful option for the cloth diapering world, though, like any system, there are a few drawbacks. If you plan to use the same One-Size diaper for three kids, you may begin to see wear and tear by the second or third child. This breakdown of the fibers does not indicate poor craftsmanship or bad quality materials, but rather the effects of washing a garment multiple times a week, month after month. A second reason you may not wish to choose a One-Size diaper is due to the bulk factor. Most moms don’t mind to see the adorable waddle of a child in cloth, but some parents don’t care for the way clothing fits (or doesn’t fit) overtop of a bulky dipe. Especially when your child is a baby, there is excess cloth in a One-Size diaper – it’s waiting there patiently for when it will be needed in the coming months.

Whatever kind of cloth diapering system you choose, you can rest assured that you are doing a great thing on many fronts.
• you are reducing the amount of waste your family contributes to our landfills
• you are saving tons of money by not purchasing paper and plastic you will just throw away every few hours
• you are, in most cases, supporting small businesses and work-at-home moms
• most importantly, you are laying your baby’s delicate skin next to soft, breathable, chemical-free materials for 24 hours each day

One of our favorite One-Size diapers are Happy Heinys One-Size Pockets. With been using this one for over a month and it fits like no other one-size we’ve tried before. With 4 size settings and generous stretch in the elastic this diaper is sure to fit from infantcy through to potty training. As with other Happy Heiney’s I’ve used the outer color is vibrant, the inner liner is soft and resists staining and the aplix closure tabs stay flush against the diaper to deter little fingers from opening. A recent design change has added leg casings instead of the traditional fleece roll out at the legs. I love the look of the little fleece peek out but think the casings work better at containing messes. Itty Bitty Baby Bunz is currently reducing their price for the diapers without leg casings to snatch them up before they are gone.

To close out this fantastic Cloth Diaper Basics rundown Sherrie with Itty Bitty Baby Bunz is giving LookWhatMomFound readers the chance to win a Happy Heinys One-Size Diaper.

Belabumbum Lingerie Evaluation

It’s amazing how a piece of lingerie can uplift a women’s spirits, especially when it’s made to fit her body perfectly. Belabumbum (Portuguese for beautiful bottom) specializes in lingerie, lounge wear, maternity lingerie and maternity swimwear for women who crave style alongside necessity. Incorporating the South American and Mediterranean cultures and love of color makes Belabumbum different from other lingerie producers. They know how to make women feel beautiful.

Belabumbum particularly stands out in maternity lingerie with fun and flirty designs. Finally, maternity lingerie that looks lovely! Belabumbum believes that women grow more beautiful during pregnancy, and we also believe that pregnancy can be so much fun. Belabumbum’s maternity line encourages women to feel pampered, sexy, womanly, and just plain cool during what is truly one of the most important times of a woman’s life– during and after pregnancy.

The best way to describe the Filigree Chemise I’ve been wearing is HEAVEN. The material is silky soft and moves like fluid, the lace design is sweet and the amethyst color is modern. It is super sexy without being risqué so I can wear it around the house and not worry about flashing my six year old son. I’m used to always adjusting and tugging to get the right coverage but I am pleasantly surprised that this nightie fits wonderfully. I was nervous about getting a size large, I didn’t think it would fit the size Ds but was I dead wrong. These pieces are designed for real women by real women.

The maternity collection is what really caught my eye at first. No more dowdy sleepwear for pregnant mamas. Be comfortable and still be CUTE in Bird’s Nest Nursing Babydoll and Pant set with a sweet mama bird looking over her nest of eggs. For the non-preggies you’ll love the bold exotic patterns of Indira and Mata Hari collections and their bold colors and unique details. Keep it green with Bamboo Basics with a racerback bra and thong or girlshort panties, made with organic, sustainable bamboo. Whatever your style or whatever the occasion Belabumbum is going to have that perfect ensemble to make you feel the best you have felt in a long time.

Win a chemise from Belebumbum here at LookWhatMomFound. Take a look around and tell me what other garments you think would be perfect for you and WHY. Would it be for a romantic evening with the hubby or for lazy Sunday mornings or midnight cuddling with that brand new baby.

UVSkinz SunBlock Swimwear

For my family summer means swimming, amusement parks, beaches, lakes, boating, picnics and bbqs. This means lots of time spent outdoors so I’m very diligent about suncare especially since skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States.

UV Skinz provides high-quality, fun sun protection clothing for the entire family. With selections including shirts, hats and bottoms, you can outfit everyone with UPF 50+ swimwear to protect against the sun’s harmful rays. Owner Rhonda Sparks tragically lost her husband Darren to skin cancer at the age of 32. From that point on she made it her mission to GET KIDS COVERED!

Darren Lee Farwell was always up for an outdoor adventure. An avid surfer and snowboarder, Darren couldn’t begin to count the number of serious sunburns he had suffered as a kid. He was not aware that just one severe sunburn during a child’s first fifteen years could double the chance of developing skin cancer as an adult. Darren was young and full of life and never thought about skin cancer or how deadly it could be.

The reality of skin cancer touched Darren in 1996 when he was diagnosed with malignant melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer. Darren stayed positive and lively for his three young boys, Ethan, Seth and Caleb and never gave up hope during his long five-year battle with the disease.

On September 14th 2001, at the far-too-young age of 32, Darren succumbed to skin cancer. The legacy that Darren wanted to leave was to encourage people to “stay healthy” and to “take responsibility of their bodies.” Darren’s wife, Rhonda Sparks, her family and the couple’s friends founded the Darren Lee Farwell Foundation on December 1st, 2001 to help fulfill Darren’s legacy.

The foundation enabled Rhonda to educate people about the dangers of the sun and develop the UVSkinz line of sun-protection swimwear. Skin cancer is 100% preventable especially when you start prevention early. The first 18 years of life is the most crucial in prevention, one bad burn as a child doubles your chances for skin cancer as an adult. Take care of your children today, cover them up using UVSkinz swimwear for a UPF protection of 50+.

These came from California Cut Flower Commission. They represent cut flowers and foliage growers in California, from San Diego all the way north to the Oregon border. The CCFC has the unique job of helping these growers thrive among huge percentage of imported flowers. Not only does the CCFC want these growers to thrive they want to make sure the products are fresh and superior quality.

Did you know that only 25% of the flowers sold in the United States came from California but California grows 75% of the cut flowers? Shouldn’t all those weddings and showers and memorials and just because moments be benefiting our own economy? California’s cut flower industry is responsible for over 121K jobs and $3.3 billion in wages. If we increase our consumption of California flowers than that makes a positive impact on OUR economy, that’s a good thing.

One way the CCFC is trying to boost the awareness of buying California Grown is coming up with “Hint Cards”. Hint cards are business card size that help incorporate a little romance and whimsy into our lives. It gives a little hint to that loved one that you want some flowers sometimes, just because. Studies found 42% of women DO NOT receive flowers as often as they would like. Rob used to be really good about this many years ago but it’s tapered off over the years. He needs a reminder once in a while and these are going to be perfect for that. The Hint Cards come as a set, each with a cute phrase such as “I dare you to buy me flowers” or “Flowers Make a Girl Happy”. The CCFC is hoping the introduction of this tool will get us women the flowers we deserve as well as make us aware of what is available in our own backyard.

Next time you order a bouquet for someone you love, insist on California grown flowers and foliage. Don’t forget to pick up your own Hint Cards while you’re at it to ensure you get the flowers you deserve.

What to win your own bouquet of beautiful fresh cut flowers or a set of Hint Cards? The California Cut Flower Commission is giving away 25 sets of Hint Cards and a bouquet of flowers to my readers. Plus, you will be given the opportunity to win a grand prize of one free California-grown bouquet every month for one year if they participate in this online survey! http://www.surveygizmo.com/s/134525/ccfc-hint-card-survey

Polliwalks are Fun for Feet *fixed video

Polliwalks gets it right when they say “Fun for Feet”. Never before have I fallen in love with the character of a shoe. Never before has a shoe has so much personality made me smile when I saw it. Polliwalks brings fun to children’s feet with 11 adorable animal shoes. Wearing Polliwalks shoes is like wearing little animals on your feet! They are a constant companion for all of life’s little adventures at home, school and play.

Shae received the new Firefly Polliwalks. I let out a loud AWWWWWW when I opened the box. I couldn’t believe how utterly adorable they were. With a step, jump or stomp these fun clogs light up like real fireflies while leaving a buggy footprint in sand, dirt and water. Just a damp washcloth gets them clean too, no worrying about them getting ruined at the playground. Shae loves her Polliwalks and often picks as her shoe for the day when she comes out of her room wearing them and just a diaper. She shows off the light-up butt and stomps around the house.

These shoes go beyond cute with their superior fit, extreme comfort, easy on and off and lightweight material. Most of the shoes are machine washable expect for those that integrate other materials such as light up butts and faux fur. Created by the imagination of long time footwear designer and former toy designer Joel Rusnak, he thought children’s shoes should be fun and offer toy like features that make wearing them a playful experience. Joel teamed up with his wife and industry colleagues and together they came up with Polliwalks. They are dedicated to creating innovative shoes that appeal to fun side of being a child while keeping the environment in mind. All excess material created from the molding process is recycled, creating no-waste manufacturing. Their minimal packaging is environmentally friendly by using tags and hooks made with recycled paper and plastic.

Polliwalks has taken kids footwear to a new level, giving kids Fun for Feet.
