Do You Have a Superhero?

We all have people we look up to, cherish and honor, some would call them our superheroes? National Superhero Day is coming up and PowerCapes wants to help you recognize those special people in your life.

National Superhero Day started in 1995 by a group of employees at Marvel Comics. This year will also mark a special occasion, during the annual CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) Superhero Run in Pittsburg- on April 28- they will attempt to break the world record for the most superheroes in one place- the current record is held by Dreamworks and stands at 1,580.

Powercapes wants to outfit all the superheros in the world with their capes and costumes. On April 28th anchors and news reporters in more than 30 cities- from Jacksonville to Los Angeles, Portland to Sacramento- will be wearing PowerCapes for the occasion!

My buddy Marco is my little superhero. He is a superhero fanatic, a kid with trunks full of costumes and gear from comic books, movies and television. I wanted to do something special for him so Powercapes sent him a custom cape. He and his little sister loved it so much she got one too.

Visit Powercapes for a custom cape for your own superhero or superhero lover.

A SuperHero and Her Sidekick #WW

Shae is Supergirl (spiderman’s daughter NOT girlfriend) and Madi is the jammie girl. Madi was wearing a tutu minutes before this but decided it was interfering with her rescue missions.

Dress up is a huge part of our daily play routine. Rob had to build a special cabinet just to hold all of the boys and girls Halloween costumes from years past. We often stock up on accessories and costumes throughout the year just to add to the fun. Yesterday Shae received a SuperGirl costume from Anytime Costumes. It arrived around 2pm and the only time it spent OFF her body was for bath and bedtime. Shae’s been running a fever off and on for a couple days and it stayed on even during the fever spikes.

I love that she chose something different than her typical princess uniform. Shae and her cousin Madi have been playing superhero non-stop. It’s been fun to watch them “save” each other from things like spiders, alligators and enemies. Not sure if they really know what enemies are but that’s ok, they are playing nicely.

Anytime Costumes has a great selections of costumes for Halloween and beyond. The selection isn’t limited to just kids either. Adult and Plus sized costumes in many themes are available too. Shop with confidence too because returns and exchanges are shipped for free within the continental US.

Inappropriate Halloween Costumes for Kids

As a parent we have to make smart decisions for our kids. Have you ever looked at someone’s child and wondered why they were eating that particular snack, playing a certain game or behaving in that manner. Halloween costumes are no better. Over the years I’ve seen some of the most inappropriate costumes on children and wonder what kind of example they are setting. What happened to the days of cartoon characters, superheros and cute furry animals.

It’s Costume Time

It took many hours of intense thought and investigation but the decision has been made; the kids costumes are decided.
boys-kids-red-black-ninja-master-costumeI implored Shaun to NOT pick a costume that had a mask. We’ve done that in the past and it always ends with the mask in the bag because he can’t see well or it’s too hot. This year he chose a Ninja Master Costume. While it does has a mask it’s a half mask that shouldn’t inhibit his sight. The costume comes complete with shirt, pants, hood, leg guards, arm guards and over vest. The sword isn’t included but that is fine with me because I always end up carrying the accessories. Shaun is done, now it’s time to work on Shae.

Costume shopping this year can be easy with Wholesale Halloween Costumes. Whether you are buying 1 or 10 the shipping is fast and cheap. Up the cost $1 and get expedited shipping and delivery within 5 days. There is still plenty of time to order and receive your costume before Halloween.

A good tip is to check out the sale section and accessories section to get great deals on year round dress up supplies and costumes.

I found this ultra cute fairy costume for less than $20 and this Movie Clapper Board for less than $10. You don’t only have to buy costumes for Halloween,; these would be perfect for the kids when they put on shows in the house for rainy day entertainment.
If the choice is a Disney Princess costume, Green Lantern Costume or any other of the 100’s of selections you are bound to find just want the kids want at prices you can agree on. Have a safe and happy Halloween.

My Kids Love Halloween

So last night was Halloween and my kids love this day and have been excited about it for a while.  Actually what kid wouldn’t love this day. This is the only day where you can go to other peoples houses that you don’t know and ask for free candy.  Sounds like a win win to me for any kid.

Shae was Velma and she looked so good and Shaun was a soldier and he looked awesome as well.  We did a little Trick or Treating and I think the kids did pretty well but not as well in years past.  I am assuming it had something to do with the economy but who knows.  I remember in years past most houses would give out candy but not anymore.  This year I would say maybe 1-10 houses were giving out candy.

All in all it was a pretty good Halloween.  A little chilly but still a great night.

Instant Dinosaur Costume
Pip and Bean produce oodles of cool costumes not just for Halloween either. My kids dress up everyday, so should yours

Too Many Tutus
I don’t need another tutu in this house but a tutu tote would be perfect for collecting Trick or Treat goodies. Naptime21 has a selection for every style princess you know.

Time for Tea
My mother collects teapots and those made from pottery are her favorite. This year she didn’t get one at our annual Art/Crafts Festival but I think this one would be a perfect addition anytime of the year.

Spiders Aren’t That Scary
Halloween isn’t complete without a creepy spider. Red Pine Designs are handmade using several techniques all of which produce beautiful pieces of stained glass.

Take if from Bath to Beach-Company Kids Hooded Towel

Bath time is one of the most relaxing moments someone can indulge in. For kids it’s one of the most fun. Company Kids keeps the fun going even when the water and bubbles have all gone. Their hooded towels give kids a costume and cover-up all in one.

We recently received the Company Kids Duckie Hooded Towel for my niece Ella. Her mother tells me that she quacks at each bath time so I thought this would be the perfect gift for her. It roominess and thickness are also perfect to take from the bath to the beach. Keep the sun off their heads and sand off their bodies when it’s time to leave the surf. Made of 100% cotton and a large 50” X 30” size these towels will last kids till ages 6-7 (depending on the size of the kid).

For an extra special gift get your character hooded towel monogrammed for that someone special. Choose from lots of different styles, characters and animals.

Ella will hopefully love her Duckie Towel for her birthday next week.
