Father’s Day is time for #RealDadMoments + giveaway

I have this totally obnoxious video of Shae at age 2 running aroung the house shrieking “My Daddy My Daddy My Daddy My Daddy”. It’s something she would do then walk calmly over to Rob to give him a hug and a kiss. It’s a video I watch pretty often because it’s cute to see the love exchanged between the two of them. With Father’s Day coming up in a few short days I watching those videos, gathering up the pictures of Rob and the kids and remembering moments of the kids loving on him hard, #realdadmoments.

The media doesn’t seem to see dads this way. The commercials and horrible “talk shows” portray dads as deadbeats, disconnected from family life and fumbling through life with children. That isn’t the case in our home. Our family works, eats and lives together as a unit not pieces to a mixed-up puzzle.

In our family we have #RealDadMoments

Dove Men+Care is committed to portraying how real men care, the short film below spotlights the expanding and often unrecognized ways dads care for their children featuring #RealDadMoments between children and their fathers, most of which are regrettably absent from media depictions of dads today. Grab a tissue!

This short film is grounded in NEW research from Dove Men+Care, finding that three quarters of dads say they are responsible for their child’s emotional well-being, while only 20% of dads see this role reflected in media.

Dove Men+Care Dad Portrayal Research Study

  • Three quarters of dads say they are responsible for their child’s emotional well-being, while only 20% of dads see this role reflected in media
  • Only 13% of dads believe the media portrays fathers as responsible for childcare
  • 3 out of 5 dads say the media portrays them negatively (61%)

Celebrate the dads in your life with sharing their #RealDadMoments on social media. Upload a picture or video to Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or Vine using #RealDadMoments to give dad he recognition he deserves.

UPS My Choice and Zappos Giveaway #UPSMyChoiceVideos

Now that summer is here one would think that I should be living my life more like a lady of leisure. That is so far from the truth. My calendar is packed with appointments, blog posts due, events, lessons, volunteering and practice for the kids and work. Being organized is key but I can’t always expect everything around me to run on my time. This is where UPS My Choice comes in.

I can continue with my life and my task list and not worry about what’s being delivered and if I’m going to be home for it. UPS My Choice is a new way to ship, receive and manage your deliveries. We all know bloggers get lots of packages. There have been times I’ve come home from a day away and found things at my garage, on my front step, shoved under my door or even at my neighbors. That’s no way for me to handle my business. UPS My Choice lets me direct packages to be delivered at a more convenient time and/or location. Here is my Delivery Planner with my most recent orders from last week and this week. I’m able to make a note for my SHOES to be left at the door because I know I won’t be home during the delivery time frame.

Capturing Memories with DXG #giveaway

As a parent having cameras at your fingertips is a must. There are so many comical, crazy, emotional and downright strange things that go on in our house. Sometimes I require just a camera but for those over the top moments video coverage is all that will do.

DXG is a growing digital camera company that offers inexpensive, high-definition cameras and camcorders. The Luxe Collection features list rivals that of top brands.

  • HD video: 1080p, 720p at 30 fps
  • Connect to your PC via USB 2.0 interface
  • Upload videos to the Internet
  • SDHC compatible

We recently received the LUXE 1080P ULTRA SLIM CAMCORDER in red riviera. As you can see the camera comes completely ready to use without the need to make extra trips to the store for cables or a carrying case. This particular camera records in real 1080p high-def video, captures stills in 12megapixel, has a 3” touchscreen display and had as HDMI port so it can be directly connected to your HDTV for instant reviewing.

I’ve received handheld cameras in the past and the one thing I don’t like about them is the need to plug them into the computer to charge. It’s handy if I’m on or near a computer but that’s not always the case. The LUXE 1080P ULTRA SLIM CAMCORDER comes with a rechargable Li-ion battery & DC power charger.

I think this camera might go directly to Sabreena so she can keep up with her weekly vlog and have instant upload capability.  It’s really lightweight, almost to the point that it feels fake.  The red color is really pretty but the gold accents aren’t my style.  The rainbow of colors that the DXG cameras come in are really fun and make awesome gifts for teens and women who like trendy items.

DXG has many other camera options from the sports series (underwater use) to the 3D for the ultimate in technology.
LookWhatMomFound…and Dad too! readers are getting the chance to win 1 of 4 LUXE 1080P ULTRA SLIM CAMCORDERS (value $250).  Let me know what other DXG camera would come in handy in your life.

Back to School with Lunchopolis Giveaway

The kids go back to school soon and with that comes better meal planning for lunch time. Lunchopolis lunchbox by Enviro Products sent us 2 systems to review to ensure they take along healthy food choices in a safe and convenient way.

I prefer fruit and veggies for snacks but often toss in yogurt, pudding, granola bars, cheese and crackers as additional options and treats for the kids. This systems give me container sizes that are perfect for lots of choices or the option to not use the containers for the times things are prepackaged. My only upgrade idea would be to fit in a small cup for dip, dressing or peanut butter. My kids like apples and peanut butter but there isn’t an easy way to transport it.

This system is perfect for adults too. The sandwich box is perfect for leftovers or a salad and the smaller containers keep healthy non-vending machine options right at your fingertips. Shop for Lunchopolis insultated lunchbox systems at New Wave Enviro. Keep the planet clean and green with less waste and trash.

WIN your own Lunchopolis lunchbox by Enviro Products by telling me a healthy lunch option for kids.

I Don’t Miss These Moments

Since I was the Stay At Home Mom it was primarily my job to handle nighttime feedings. I had the whole schedule down. The pillows would be arranged in the right spot to support my arms and back, the bottles were always premade in the fridge and the tv remote was handy as was the notebook and pen to track time and ounces consumed.

While I was organized to make 3 am feedings effortless that didn’t mean they were easy. I often feel asleep during the feeding only to find a zonked out but soaking wet baby in my arms. The worst moments were when I just gave up the organization and stayed in the rocking chair with the baby and slept straight through to the next feeding.
Evenflo has been bringing humor to the plight of parenthood and compiling some statistics so we all know we aren’t battling alone.

  • 27% of moms are so tired that they’re actually concerned they might fall asleep during the feeding itself. Thirty-five percent of women surveyed admitted to waiting only about 10 minutes after feeding (vs. the recommended 20) to lay their babies back down if they hadn’t burped, and an additional 23% say they were too tired and waited only a few minutes.
  • a whopping 74% of moms reported the responsibility lay with them, while only 5% reported having a set schedule with their spouse to share the responsibility.

While Rob may not have been big at nighttime bottles he’s making up for it now with the kids early morning wake up call on the weekends. The one trait that I don’t mind them getting from him is the ability to rise at the first show of sunlight; that’s only because Rob does the same thing.  How did you handle the dreaded nighttime feedings?  Got stories or advice to share?

Need a little crafting inspiration?

I know a lot of our readers are crafty and talented. Whether it’s baking, sewing, photography or kids crafts we have a some skill.  But I also know that we all suffer from inspiration block sometimes. What gets you over that hump?  What gives you a renewed love of your “craft”?

Peek at this video, see if it helps 🙂

Leslie Hall has been around for a LONG time. She’s originally know as the Gem Sweater girl but can more recently be seen on Yo Gabba Gabba.  Her videos are odd as well as her wardrobe but if she can make a career out of this strange character and behavior than more power to her. She isn’t hurting anyone, she isn’t offending anyone. I take more offense to music artists and the lyrics they sing degrading people and situations in the world.

Project 52 – Week 13

Welcome to my 13th installment of Project 52, my attempt to capture our lives in a couple pictures or videos once a week.

project 52, weekly photos

This week was good. I get in a good routine of eating better, I had less headaches, less sleepiness, less grumpiness.  My niece was gone most of the week so Shae and I spent the last few days running errands, having lunch and just doing stuff.  Last weekend was Rob’s b-day party; not really a party just a casual dinner of some family and friends. I got not a single picture the entire night.  I really have to train myself to put the camera in a more obvious place during things like this.  Below are just a few glimpses into our everyday.

true sign of spring

piggie portrait-shae drew it all by herself except the heart feet

one of our errands was shopping for all new craft supplies

That’s it for this week. Thanks for stopping by. Oh and if you’re doing a Project 52 post link up in a comment and I’ll come by and check it out.

You say tomato….

Shae and I have been working on letter recognition and rhyming. I know some letter combinations are tough but here is Shae just flat out refusing to give it a try; oh and torture me also.

I forgot about this

I was going through old youtube videos and found this one of Shae. We honestly watched the Lion Sleeps Tonight video over and over and over and over and she LOVED it. She’s so little here, LookWhatMomFound wasn’t even a thought then. Of course I teared up when I watched it, i miss her at this stage.

Bambi Diamond Edition release March 1, 2011

Bambi is coming out of the vault, March 1, 2011!  The Diamond Edition debut of BAMBI, Walt’s fifth full-length animated classic, is a heartwarming story about a young deer that quickly learns the lessons of life: love, friendship, loss and heartbreak.

It’s been many years since watching Bambi, in fact I don’t think I even remember the entire story.  This is going to be a Friday movie night pick with the kids. We are slowly replacing all of our DVDs with the Blu-Ray/DVD combos.  The Disney classics are the 1st on the list and I’m excited to introduce Bambi to the kids. Shop for yourself with this $10 off coupon.

The new BAMBI Diamond Edition will be available as a 2-Disc Disney Combo Pack, a High Definition Movie Download and a Standard Definition Movie Download. For those wanting it in standard definition DVD version you’ll have to wait until April 19, 2011. Disney’s new “Second Screen” technology, which is being introduced for the very first time on the BAMBI Diamond Edition release, will further transform the at-home movie watching experience by empowering viewers with the ability to engage with film content on multiple media platforms and bring them to life in their own hands at the touch of a button

For those getting the 2-Disc Combo Pack you’ll have access to fun games and activities as well as never before seen deleted scenes and a song; Twitterpated.  Bambi is 69 years old, it was intended to be Disney’s second full-length animated film after “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” but took 6 years to complete. It is one of Disney’s most beloved classics and its shelf life is limited so get it now before it gets locked up again.

Get your kids involved in the Bambi love with the attached activity and coloring pages till the movie is released March 1st.
